Horrible experience. It's sad that a place as wonderful as the Blue Ridge Parkway is ruined by selfish, stupid, nasty people.

Why? The trail is heavily trafficked in summertime (especially on weekends) and the site suffers because of it. Great views from the visitors center at the base of the trail and the top...that is if you can ignore the human feces along the trail. I counted 8 piles of crap on or just off the path to the summit - I noticed numerous stable flies in several more places but had no desire to investigate further.

Then there was the cigarette butts I saw at the summit and the people smoking during their hike. Disgusting. As if that wasn't enough, the screaming kids make you wish birth control was a government mandate.

I was with my wife so I tried a popular little hike along BLP and I'll never do it again. If you're a true nature lover then avoid this area along with other popular places along the Trail.

Should you wish to hike this mangled, poop-laden trail you'll find it a moderately-difficult 0.6 mile climb to the top.

The overlook on the knob is small and crowded in the Summer. Honestly the parking lot has a more panoramic view, much better for photography. The parkway is closed all winter. It's best to go in the fall to see the leaves and mountain ash berries.

Great little trail with stunning views! Worth the beautiful scenic drive along the blue ridge parkway! It is all uphill but short so it's bearable!

Great hike with beautiful views

Views are amazing! While the trail is shorter; it is uphill on the whole way out, so it is still a challenge. Will be going back.

Loved it! The drive up is pretty incredible. There is a nice visitor's center with clean and adequate bathrooms. The hike up is definitely a steep climb but there are So many breathtaking views and opportunities to take a breather (which you will need!) Once you Finally make it to the top it is Exquisite! The trail itself is well maintained, more rocky at the top but managable and so worth it.
