HikingGreat!

This was a good, quick hike up to some pretty views. A little steep at the beginning, but not a bad climb. Pretty uncrowded despite good weather midday on a Saturday. Street parking by the hostel was full, but we easily found a spot in the lot across the river.

This was a great beginner trail. We made it up and down in around 2hrs. The trail wasn’t too busy. We brought our dog a long and he enjoyed himself. Great views and it was a good place for us to build some confidence! Looking forward to more trails this week. :)

I was really intrigued why there were so many ratings and it was still 5 stars — but after doing it I can honestly say it meets those expectations. It was absolutely beautiful from start to finish. I would rate it definitely moderate to hard — the incline is rough to get through at points. But overall I never felt lost or didn’t know where I was going, and the views are Breathtaking. Do not miss this hike. I drove 6 hours to try this one out, and not disappointed! I took my German Shepherd with me, and he did perfect, no issues with dogs .

Nature trips

Need improvements. Steps down to the falls are steep not easy to navigate. Tree roots sticking out on the trail making it easy to fall. Not well kept. The falls were gorgeous.

We leisurely hiked this, not all the way to Big Bald because we ran out of daylight, but we enjoyed the solidago field clearing & the trail was clear and well marked. We had it all to ourselves on a Tuesday afternoon.

Nice trail for an overnight. Campsite and water at the state line. Last water to peak is about 3.5 miles in. You’ll want to fill up if planning to stay on the peak. I agree with the moderate rating. Will wear you out but not as tough as if coming from Carver’s gap

Steady climb to nice views of river. Best views are beyond All Trails end - about 1.15.

Beautiful hike. Nice steady climbs to make you feel like you got somewhere with some real pretty forest views before you get to the top of Big Bald. If you're backpacking, the best water source right on the trail that I saw was about 5 miles in.

Awesome trail with a beautiful destination. We took our 2 and 7 year olds and they were able to make it on their own, and loved the waterfalls and playing around at the bottom.

Great trail with good views about 1.7 miles out. We only went to the first overlook and back.

HikingGreat!Rocky

Absolutely great hike, tho I would rate it harder than moderate. Significant part of elevation is over boulders which are pretty slick when wet. Poles are essential, especially for descent. Well maintained Trail is mostly forested with a few nice views until reaching bald area for last mile or so which is spectacular. Only encountered 4 other people.

this trail for first time hikers WAS strenuous, but we are also out of shape and wanted a work out, we wanted a challenge! it was so worth it, when the trees clear out and you see that beautiful cliff edge view, it takes your breathe away! we watched a train go by and rafters on the river. a wonderful start to our new hiking adventures!!

Beautiful falls! There’s multiple waterfalls on the way down to the one that’s known as “blue hole”. It’s pretty steep so bring good shoes. The roots from the trees really help. Only bad thing is there’s a lot of trash. Found a full bag of diapers left by the falls as well as Starbucks cups, lots of clothes, etc. bring a trash bag and gloves to help keep it clean and don’t forget to pack out your own trash!!

The first four miles or so are through well-covered forest. The mile before the summit goes across a ridge line with gorgeous views. Trail is well maintained but rocky and would be very slippery when wet. It’s well marked as well. The forest is very cool on the way up, but if you like to be able to look out I’d recommend starting on the North Carolina side and doing the Overmountain trail to Hump Mountain route. My Strava recorded about 5.5 miles to the top, 11 mile total round trip.
