Great trail. Slight incline. Beautiful waterfall. But.. the last 50' down to the falls is quite difficult, especially with small children. Be careful.

HikingGreat!

The views from Beartown Mtn are very limited due to summer foliage. The highlight for me was the evergreen forest and the smell of Christmas trees. It's incredibly lush and magical. Hiking down to Beartown Mtn is a complete descent composed of switchbacks and rocky terrain. It's a good workout coming back up.

Super short, but nice little falls. Don’t go on a weekend. Only room for 3 or 4 cars max.

Easy gentle climb on a wide gravel trail. 1mile from the gate you will see an orange ribbon hanging from a tree branch on the left and a tree with a blue circle and a carved arrow pointing left on the side trail. Follow it down a short distance 1/4 mile or so until the last section which is a short but very narrow, muddy and slippy tree rooted section that steeply goes down to the fall. Small clear safe pool for a dip.

Easy stroll on gravel roadbed to pretty little falls and pool. Nice addition if you happen to be in the area.

Steady climb to nice views of river. Best views are beyond All Trails end - about 1.15.

I completed this while hiking from Carvers Gap to Roan High Bluff and back. There are no views until you reach Toll House Gap. But it was still quite enjoyable hiking up (and back down) through the thick forest of fir trees.

Awesome trail and waterfall. Everyone had a blast including my toddler once we made it to the falls. Only tough part is the direct descent to the bottom of falls but I did it with a baby carrier on.

Labor Day weekend 2020. Thankful for my walking stick, Chacos and long sleeved tee shirt I decided to wear. Hiked Sat morning after a cold front moved through. This entire trail is in the trees so 55 degrees was a bit chilly. Outside of the 16 water crossings (one way) and the rocky, root riddled ground, this is an easy 4 mile out and back trail with a beautiful payoff. The water was flowing nicely so the falls were beautiful. This trailhead is easy to find and the trail is clearly marked with blue blazes/blue reflective triangles. We arrived at the trailhead at 0740 and arrived back at our vehicle at 1150. We didn’t see a soul until we were more than halfway back out. Was so nice to have the falls all to ourselves. Highly recommend!

BackpackingGreat!

Beautiful hike. Nice steady climbs to make you feel like you got somewhere with some real pretty forest views before you get to the top of Big Bald. If you're backpacking, the best water source right on the trail that I saw was about 5 miles in.

Harder than expected. Balsa make it hot. Cold on top of the grassy ridge bald. Amazing views on clear days.

Awesome trail with a beautiful destination. We took our 2 and 7 year olds and they were able to make it on their own, and loved the waterfalls and playing around at the bottom.

Great trail with good views about 1.7 miles out. We only went to the first overlook and back.

The trail is a slow incline upwards, very doable and got a work out. path is rocky and muddy but okay. getting to the bottom of the falls is the hardest part but worth it for the peaceful pool at the bottom with the waterfall. will bring out bathing suits next time!

The trail is definitely hard. It frequently gets narrow enough that you wonder if it’s going to disappear entirely. Still, the trail is fairly easy to follow. It’s a great hike if you want to feel like you’re exploring new territory. Twice there were very steep climbs that made me wish for boots with better tread. I’m 50 and in good shape but this hike forced me to stop a couple times for rest.

The road getting up to the trail is sketchy at best including, but not limited to: trappers, moonshine stills, and beer bottles lining the road. Spotting the trail was difficult, we passed it and had to go back. The trail itself is confusing at first because it starts as what looks like an ATV “road” which the trail turns off of after a minute or two. After that, it is a quiet and enjoyable walk through the woods. It was also a challenge which can be hard to find for experienced and fit hikers. I would only recommend this trail to experienced hikers due to the narrow and difficult to discern at places with several side trails that lead to nowhere. Once you reach the “top” the trail just dead-ends at a spot in the middle of the forest with no lookout. In addition, the trail looks to me no more than a ravine then an actual trail with some sections having flowing water one must jump over. On the other hand, the fungi population is impressive if you enjoy that sort of thing, I wish I had gotten more pictures of them! And there is a small stream along the trail that makes a pleasant rippling sound. We saw deer tracks and bear scat so I’m sure you can get a good look at some wildlife if you tread quietly enough.

I didn't give it one star and it won't let me edit that. My track is below. This is so far out of 270 trails I've done, my favorite. I conquered my fear was water crossing and was a 'pro' by the time I came back down. 32 crossings! Thank you to someone for mentioning NOT to turn left on Pete something Rd. Go straight. You saved me from getting lost. Go until the gravel road ends. About room for 5-6 vehicles up there. Bring dry shoes, you will get wet and don't stop on the trail until you find yourself standing at the bottom of the falls. The trail does go to the bottom of the falls. I LOVED this hike! It is very rocky, wear supportive shoes and what ever you do, don't forget your trekking poles/walking stick!
