Best walking trails in Cape Hatteras National Seashore, North Carolina

This trail is a wooden boardwalk behind the Bodie Lighthouse that feeds to a marsh overlook. You are likely to see various wildlife on your trip. Check the park website for current information: https://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/bils.htm When the lighthouse is open, you can climb the lighthouse to the top. There is a photo book at the Bodie Island Lighthouse that shows pictures of the views from the top of the lighthouse if you are unable to climb the stairs. Accessibility: There are at least 2 designated handicapped-accessible spaces in the parking lot at the visitors center on a paved surface. At least 2 of them are van-accessible with striped access aisles. The trail surface is all flat (0-1% grade), wooden boardwalk, and typically at least 6 feet wide. Show more
