Pretty rad trail. Challenging for new riders. Plenty of jumps, rocks, roots, logs and other obstacles

Great trail with 2 beautiful overlooks. Quick easy trail for kids..a little rocky at times but 7-9 year olds had a great time!

Great trail, challenging in parts

it was a beautiful morning. honeysuckle just popped, and kinda overcast and cool. trail was perfectly kept. there are ups and downs and a few water spots. I went with my brother. we've lived here for years and never knew it was in our backyard. basically a beautiful day hike, bike, nature walk, nature photo shoot, possibly camping. i reccomend to any locals to check ot out.

Wonderful single track. fun, flowing, technical, and challenging in spots. Lots of surprises and features to keep you engaged. while not an expert, I can imagine this is the type of trail to develop expert level skills.

Recently learned about this trail and set out to hike it. I hit it on a late Friday afternoon and pretty much had the trail to myself.

What a beautiful trail! Not very technical to hike, but entirely a different matter on two wheels.

The entire trail was filled with a wonderful damp organic smell most likely due to the rains a couple days prior. Conditions were dry for the most part, damp in lower lying areas especially where crossing streams.

I’m motivated to return to begin running it with and without a ruck. It’s that fun. It’s been ages since my cyclocross days in the Midwest, but this trail was really calling to me to get back on a bike.

One final note: the trail winds through several private properties and notices are posted. Regardless, the trail is open for public use. However, riding it in wet conditions is prohibited. Don’t play that game!

We intended to hike this trail but upon arrival there were many mountain bikers leaving out. Fortunately we had our mountain bikes with us! Had a great bike. My wife First Time mountain biking, she had a great time but did have to walk some sections. Property is marked private but one guy said he had been biking there for 7 years with no problems just don’t bike when trail is wet. Trail is well marked and directional...at the parking lot start off going to the left.

I have driven this beautiful section of the Parkway many times. I have also hiked some of the trails along the road several times. Great views.

my wife and I did this trail for the first time during the end of NOV, we mad it a 2 day/1night trip. the trail has the potential to be a good trail but with some little changes. first the trail is about 12.5 miles loop.

2.5 on one trail.
4 on the jeep trail
4 on st Mary's trail
and 2 on the last trail

on the whole loop their are only about 3 blazers which makes it really hard to navigate and some points. Their are very minimal signs that are helpful. and the other growth was outrageous. some parts of the trail are relatively flat, but the other parts are either steep incline for miles. or steep decline. plan to spend at least 30 min trying to find the correct trail because their are alot of self made trails.

pros. Their are alot of self made camp sites along the way. one that even over looks the the valley( but there is no water at this site) another real good one is half way thru st Mary's trail, right next to the creek. there are also alot of places to get water.

overall I will probably not do this trail again do to the lack of information and trail blazers.

It was a nice way to end our day of hiking. Total trip about a half an hour. Views were nice. You can see similar views in the overlooks but makes it worth it when you hike to see it!

This is a short and easy trail (with some elevation gain) that leads to lookouts in two different directions. Most of the overlooks along the Blue Ridge Parkway have nicer views. But if you want something that makes you at least work a little bit for it, this is a good place to stop. Use the tracks to locate it or just look for it at MP 123.2.

This is really more of a mountain biking trail. There's a couple of walking trails, but if you want to get back in to the woods, you're on bike trails. Which is fine, if you don't mind stepping out of the way of the bikers. It definitely a sweet place to bike, though.

Also, there is nothing hard about this trail. Very manageable for someone of any aptitude. My dog enjoyed it too!

I did the Muir Natural Trail, but I couldn't find that exact one on the app. It's a nice, short hike. Very clean. The only thing is that it seems to be more a mountain bike area. The hiking trail is separate, but there are some areas of overlap. Beautiful area. I'd definitely go back to check out more of the hiking trails.

We have gone on this hike several times now. We love it. It's quick but will give you a work out!

Went during the spring this year, trail was overgrown, ended up finding ticks on my gear and my partner. Trail doesn't actually come upon the St. Mary river waterfall. Despite this, it was still a beautiful hike and had quite a few spots to camp at. Once you reach the Bald Mountain jeep trail, it widens up and allows you to walk without worry of ticks.

As I have found with other hikes here, it was not accurate with getting me there. Hike itself was pretty short and easy. All uphill in and all downhill out. Nice quick hike. Best when there are no leaves.

This is a great trail for conditioning yourself before hiking longer trails.

Craggy Gardens to Mt. Pisgah is one of my favorite stretches of the BRP. Located on both sides of Asheville, great hikes include Mt. Pisgah, Craggy Gardens, and Craggy Pinnacle. You also can take a detour to the famous Biltmore Estate or stop for lunch in Asheville, maybe stay in luxury at the Grove Park Inn, or stay at the rustic Pisgah Inn. Lots of hiking and lots to see and do.

My 15 year old son and I did this as a 2 day/1 night trip in November. It is a good trip. Good variety of terrain from walking ridgelines, walking the St Mary's river valley, and some just walking in the woods. You may find descriptions that list the blaze colors for these trails. That is a joke. We saw 6 blazes on the whole loop and 2 were more misleading than helpful. So plan some extra time for finding the trail in tricky spots, especially near the campsites. We probably spent 30 minutes total searching for the trail in 3 separate spots. The camp sites near Green Pond and Bear Branch are awesome. Worth a trip, just know that these trails aren't as well marked as most.

What a great intown trail -
We stopped the day after on the way back from Blowing Rock for a short stretch.

This little trail made us envious that we don't have anything like it in Denver (NC).

And if you have 10 minutes, swing off the trail and stop at the animal shelter - maybe a future hiker is waiting for you!

Really great for all ages, and stroller friendly!

I love witnessing the amazing Parkway scenery on this section, completing some of the spectacular trails like Craggy Gardens/Craggy Pinnacle and Mt. Pisgah, and then ending the day exploring wonderful Asheville!

Awesome trail for beginner to intermediate skill level. They do have an optional difficult trail called "the ghost"...so they got something for everyone at Governor's Creek. Little to no sand, which is always good. Highly recommend! Enjoy!
