I have driven this beautiful section of the Parkway many times. I have also hiked some of the trails along the road several times. Great views.

my wife and I did this trail for the first time during the end of NOV, we mad it a 2 day/1night trip. the trail has the potential to be a good trail but with some little changes. first the trail is about 12.5 miles loop.

2.5 on one trail.
4 on the jeep trail
4 on st Mary's trail
and 2 on the last trail

on the whole loop their are only about 3 blazers which makes it really hard to navigate and some points. Their are very minimal signs that are helpful. and the other growth was outrageous. some parts of the trail are relatively flat, but the other parts are either steep incline for miles. or steep decline. plan to spend at least 30 min trying to find the correct trail because their are alot of self made trails.

pros. Their are alot of self made camp sites along the way. one that even over looks the the valley( but there is no water at this site) another real good one is half way thru st Mary's trail, right next to the creek. there are also alot of places to get water.

overall I will probably not do this trail again do to the lack of information and trail blazers.

This is really more of a mountain biking trail. There's a couple of walking trails, but if you want to get back in to the woods, you're on bike trails. Which is fine, if you don't mind stepping out of the way of the bikers. It definitely a sweet place to bike, though.

Also, there is nothing hard about this trail. Very manageable for someone of any aptitude. My dog enjoyed it too!

I did the Muir Natural Trail, but I couldn't find that exact one on the app. It's a nice, short hike. Very clean. The only thing is that it seems to be more a mountain bike area. The hiking trail is separate, but there are some areas of overlap. Beautiful area. I'd definitely go back to check out more of the hiking trails.

impressive. could use a bit more maintainence but trails are very good

Try to go on a blue sky day! An AMAZING view!

Went during the spring this year, trail was overgrown, ended up finding ticks on my gear and my partner. Trail doesn't actually come upon the St. Mary river waterfall. Despite this, it was still a beautiful hike and had quite a few spots to camp at. Once you reach the Bald Mountain jeep trail, it widens up and allows you to walk without worry of ticks.

Nice hike. Very little elevation change. I parallels the Parkway.

This hike is much easier than McAfee Knob or Dragons Tooth but I'm not in shape enough to call any 7.7 mile hike "easy". Lol. It was great! Crosses over the parkway several times, so you could shorten the hike by parking at any of several overlooks along the way. In the winter many places offer a through trees, view on both sides of the trail!
This is a new favorite for sure. Only downside is most of the trail you can hear traffic on the parkway.

This is a great trail for conditioning yourself before hiking longer trails.

Craggy Gardens to Mt. Pisgah is one of my favorite stretches of the BRP. Located on both sides of Asheville, great hikes include Mt. Pisgah, Craggy Gardens, and Craggy Pinnacle. You also can take a detour to the famous Biltmore Estate or stop for lunch in Asheville, maybe stay in luxury at the Grove Park Inn, or stay at the rustic Pisgah Inn. Lots of hiking and lots to see and do.

My 15 year old son and I did this as a 2 day/1 night trip in November. It is a good trip. Good variety of terrain from walking ridgelines, walking the St Mary's river valley, and some just walking in the woods. You may find descriptions that list the blaze colors for these trails. That is a joke. We saw 6 blazes on the whole loop and 2 were more misleading than helpful. So plan some extra time for finding the trail in tricky spots, especially near the campsites. We probably spent 30 minutes total searching for the trail in 3 separate spots. The camp sites near Green Pond and Bear Branch are awesome. Worth a trip, just know that these trails aren't as well marked as most.

I hiked with my wife and three kids...they just loved it. Trails are properly marked to enhance the experience. Definitely I will come back to do the other loops.

Good trail. My 11 and 9 year old loved it. My 3 year finished by himself, but he was ready for a nap by the end of the trail.

This place is great. Family friendly and fun to walk, run, or bike. There is very easy route around the perimeter of the lake that is just under a mile. It's beautiful to look at. Run it twice for a good daily run. If you want to follow the bike trails make sure you bring water and wear bug spray.

Drove through this section with a thunderstorm coming over the mountain, turning the visibility to very low. It was exciting.

We tried this hike for the first time, going backwards from the typical route. We made this a 3 day/2-night trip, which spanned a weekend with evening thunderstorms and then snow on day 3. There are a few spots with large campsites, and ample creek crossings. My least favorite part was walking the fire roads, as it is not very exciting, but otherwise a great hike. Just to add, for those that like off-roaring or mtn biking, there are nice views and camp sites along the fire road. We opted to bypass the trip to the falls, but will definitely go back sometime.

A great experience!!!

great trails and family oriented park

Wednesday, April 02, 2014

This trail is 10 miles long if you bypass the expert sections, and 12 if you ride everything. Great trail with lots of challenging terrain. Definitely not a beginner trail. Lots of new jumps added over the winter. If it's been a few years since you last rode this trail, it's not the same trail.

Trail was the best so far I ran. Says 4 miles and some changes, I do ran today about 6 and not same route and even skipping some routes means is more then those 4 was annotated. Have all kind of stuff, jumps, hills, new trails, all .....
So far the best one of 5 on my belt using this app.....

on San-Lee Park Trail

Thursday, November 01, 2012

Lunch spot. I came hungry hoping to find more edibles on the hike. Ended up with a small soup, tasty but not filling. Good hike though. Putty root, wild ginger, and dandy lion. There's tons of ginger, have to hunt for anything else. Several great streams to properly procure water.

Fast nice hike with varying elevation changes and scenery. Very enjoyable apart from double backing numerous times in some areas.

Love this trail. Don't just hang out by the lake but get out back some... favorite area for now is twin peaks. Last weekend was with my boys (6, 3) they enjoyed it just as much.
