A short, high-end of easy, trail that has a little bit of everything; spectacular clifftop views, a babbling brook, and about a sixty foot waterfall!

Attempted this one today and decided to turn back. I think I just timed it poorly after a recent cold/storm front the night before last, but on the approach the trail was so covered in a thick blanket of leaves that I could barely follow it- much less determine whether each step would put me on solid ground, rocks, roots, or mud. Given how clumsy I am, I decided to try it again another time!

This was an incredible hike. The falls were beautiful and well worth the hike to get there. One of my favorites!

incredible!!! we were able to go when it was slightly rainy and very foggy and the leaves were just changing Oct 26 2019. it made for an incredible visual hike. unlike any other I've been on. easy hike and worth it!!

Hiked 10/24, I loved this trail. Very enjoyable and a perfect fall day. The leaves are starting to peak right now and it was so beautiful just walking in the woods. The falls are breathtaking. The trail terrain is rockier on the side with the gradual incline. The route with the steeper incline has some 40-50% grades but these inclines were short. I took the steep part back up from the falls. I would agree with a moderate rating. It’s pretty easy except for that steep little section. Lots of photographers at the falls and pretty heavy traffic for a Thursday but a fun day!

Fantastic hike to a beautiful waterfall. Strenuous hike but worth it.

if you start from Pisgah Inn it's roughly 6 miles round-trip to the summit and back. The last mile up to Summit is steep. beautiful views all along the trail but there is a giant radio tower at The Summit which impedes some of your view. This Trail can also get very crowded in tourist season so I recommend going early as possible to avoid the large family groups that clog up the trail.

We (ages 20-62) took the east side of the loop going in and was glad we did. Their are a lot of rocks and steps and going down hill was steeper than coming out on the west side loop. The west side loop has a quick short incline coming out of the falls was tough but doable. Awesome photos of the waterfalls. Would suggest this direction for older folks.

We walked this trail on a damp overcast day. The falls were beautiful and the loop trail was a bit challenging but not too much. Trail is completely wooded. Nice setting.

Well traveled and moderately challenging. Going down to the falls and coming up is not easy in some portions. Lots of inexperienced hikers made it but I would not advise this trail if you or someone you are traveling with has immobility problems. The falls were breathtaking and something that was worth the hike to see. Our favorite hike of the day.

absolutely beautiful with varied scenery!

I loved the hike. Went on a foggy day and did not have much to look at, but loved what I did see. Taking my grandkids (ages 10,9,8 and 7) on hikes is the greatest. They loved the challange.

We hiked today with cloudy and overcast weather but it was still a great hike. We started at the Inn parking lot to make it 5 miles RT (not 3) and took the Mountain to Sea trail until we got to an overview parking lot (not on the main part of the heavily trafficked BRP). We followed the road just about a hundred yards to another parking lot, where you cross the road to get on the Mt. Pisgah trail. It was pretty well marked. We kept following the Mt Pisgah signs. From there it is about a mile and a half up to the summit, which has a lookout tower that is a great lunch spot (and a great view when it isn't cloudy). Took us about an hour and 20 or 25 minutes to reach the top. It is a nice climb, good workout. On the way back we followed the All Trails path that leads to the campground parking lot, and it was harder to follow because it is broken up by a picnic area and some parking lots, and you have to find the trail again on the other side of the lots. It is also more overgrown than the Mountains to Sea Trail. But both ways were beautiful woods, wildflowers, rhodedendrons etc. and we thoroughly enjoyed it. One tip: if you want to shower after, the campground across the street from the Pisgah Inn will let you use their hot showers for $3! They were nice and clean too. We will be back!

Great variety. Easy hikes in areas and challenging in others. Falls are wonderful!!

Really enjoyed this hike with the family. We found a few Salamanders along the way which was exciting for the kids. Some parts of the trail was pretty rocky, so good hiking shoes/boots should be worn.

Amazing payoff for a decent hike. A few parts of the trail are a little washed out and rocky, just be sure to wear good shoes and you’ll be fine.

Good trail with steep decline in the beginning. Waterfall was very awesome. Much bigger than we thought and great place to take pictures. We completed the loop with some steep uphill climb’s and well-maintained trails through the woods. Definitely worth the hike.

Trail was being worked on while we were there, adding some rock steps. very well maintained. it's a moderate hike because its uphill without much of a break, but then coming back was rather easy. the Antenna tower was a drawback , views were nice, but for me too many people. If starting at end of parking area trailhead, up and back was 3 miles. enjoyed, but would do the Deep Gap trail at Mt Mitchell before doing this one again .

The first section from the picnic area was somewhat overgrown and had some uncleared blowdowns. Once on the main trail it was typical wide trail clearing. Some rocks at first as the grade increased so did the rocks and steps. Difficulty increases as you near the top but 360 degree views were worth the effort for me!

Nice quick hike. Well traveled but not too crowded. Well marked, near impossible to get lost. Would recommend going counter clockwise. Great for the doggies!

NE portion of the loop a lot more interesting than the SW portion. Great hike and amazing waterfall view.

The loop trail has the waterfall at about the halfway mark. I suggest entering the path further from the camping gatehouse. It’s a smoother trail (less rocky) and has more to see like the feeding streams to the Falls & overlook areas. Plenty of challenge with decent/climb on the loop

I really enjoyed this trail. I did the loop then did and extra mile and a half cuz I was feeling frisky!! Lots to see even in the rain and fog. This is definitely my favorite waterfall hike in western North Carolina so far
