I ride this trail regularly. it's busy on the weekends near the dam, but a great trail.
Bridges are well maintained, and the trail clean.

Fantastic trail to ride. From Falls lake in north raleigh to Riverwood in Clayton (and eventually further). Can't wait for the continuation. I have ridden the full length and it has many variations, spots great for the family or weekend rider all the way to challenging hills for the serious rider. It also connects to several other popular trails. Careful of some bridges as they are beginning to show some age. As I write this, they are about to start repairs on one of the bigger bridges between Buffalo park and Anderson pointe. No detour, so plan accordingly. Otherwise, enjoy. It's definitely my favorite trail in the triangle.

If you are biking make sure you bring a patch kit &/or extra tube there is someone putting tacks on the trail ! My husband and another lady got a flat and we found about 30 tacks on the trail . I called the police about it. We Love the trail for triking and walking.

I put in at Horse Shoe Farm and rode about 10 miles toward Clayton. It was a beautiful trail, although not as shady as I had hoped. I recommend you get out early. The Falls were gorgeous, a beautiful little respite along the way. The wooden bridges are quaint, although the one near the 14-mile marker was not smooth at all. I was afraid I was going to blow a tire... Maybe that could be smoothed out ?? Great ride, can't wait to see the rest of the trail. Next ride...

Absolutely gorgeous. Took our bikes and 9 month old son out and cruised 10 miles of this trail. A couple little up hills, but nothing too hard or too sustained. Well kept, smooth asphalt, minimal fooy traffic, and completely separate from the road/cars.

Great for my Saturday morning bike rides to help build up my endurance since I am a beginner and the path is paved and not strenuous. I live close enough to walk to the entrance by the dam, so I take my dog occasionally for walks as well. It's been great so far. We truly enjoy this trail. Thanks Raleigh!!!

30+ miles of uninterrupted asphalt that intersects with at least two other trails. Beautiful river and tributary crossings. Several parking lots along the trail.

My first ride here was today. I started at Falls Lake Dam and road down to Horseshoe Farm Park and back. It was about 16 miles total. It's a great greenway with lots of nice bridges and it rarely loses sight with the river. I will definitely be back so that I can explore other parts of the greenway.

The Neuse River Trail, now spanning 27.5 miles one way and going all the way from Falls Lake Dam to Clayton, NC is a great trail to explore. (This is also a duplicate with the other Neuse River Trail entry, but am treating it as a walking/running trail and the other as a biking trail.) From the dam to the WRAL Soccer Fields is about 6.5 miles. We parked in the lot just south of the dam, explored the dam area and walked south along the trail for a few miles before returning to the parking lot. You miss much of what we saw if you are just tooling down the trail on a bike [which is a great ride because you can go farther], so try it both ways, enter at different access points and just explore. Raleigh has done a great job on this trail. Planning to do this again soon.

Great ride! The whole trail is now paved from Falls Lake Dam to Clayton, making for some really good biking, walking and exploring. We started at Anderson Point Park and rode north all the way to the dam, up Abbots Creek Trail to the first road, and back to Anderson Point Park, about 38 miles. The point near Horseshoe Farm Park is the biggest uphill but not too bad. Mostly flat, there are multiple access points along the way so you can pick how far you want to ride. I noticed two entries for Neuse River Trail, so am treating this one for biking and the other for walking/hiking. Also a good running trail. Raleigh does a great job of keeping you off the streets as you meander your way along the Neuse. Enjoy!

Nice and tranquil hike. Paved roads, so I would like to come back and do the trail by bike. As warning, a lot of the trail is flooded and impassable due to recent rainy days (as of Jan 2 2016).

I rode 15 miles from the start of the trail to the Milbourne Dam. Great ride, I rented a bike and the rental guy said the trail goes 33 miles all the way to Clayton. Great trail through woods, by the river, past a dam and wooden bridges over bog areas.

Great trail! Good length, scenic and lots of wildlife. The overview states that it spans 6.5 miles to the soccer trail but just beyond the soccer field it spans all the way to the Wake/Johnston county line. There is a 3/4 mile segment to be completed in August and when completed the trail length will be 27.5 miles to the county line.
