Trail was nicely marked. Snowy conditions with many very icy spots. Still a nice trail and great view at the top!

Trail is somewhat steep the whole way through and not in great condition. Very stony and eroded. Done a few hundred hikes and this was the only one that's ever put me on crutches (admittedly just for the night)... and not because of a fall. But the views from the summit are amazing.

First half of the trail is fine, about halfway the ice starts. Wasn’t terrible, just be careful! Great view as always

Trail was icy with minimal snow. You could definitely complete the trail without microspikes but we decided to use them on the way down. It was a cold but beautiful day on the trail.

This is one of my all time favorite places to hike. So much fun and the views were incredible. Check out my full write up with pictures and directions. eastcoasthiker.com/trails/cranemountain

Getting there: (as of 11/3/19) From points south, google will tell you to turn down Eddy Rd. to access Tower Rd., but Tower Rd. is actually closed in that direction. Instead, continue down Hadley Hill Rd. until you hit Tower on the right (there’s even a sign for the trailhead). Trail was pretty wet and slick from downed leaves, but no ice to speak of yet. With a faster-than-leisurely pace, it took 40 minutes up and 38 down. The first 0.9 miles is a pretty good uphill, but you’re rewarded with a quarter mile reprieve before the last 0.4 or so summit push. Even with all of the fall foliage gone, the views are still stunning - Hadley is probably one of the best payoffs for the short mileage!

Very wet. Trail was covered with wet leaves, acorns, and sometime mud. Took me about 2 hours 45 min round trip due to the conditions. Only slipped 2x!! Thank goodness for hiking poles!! Would hike again in nicer weather-view from the tower was still worth it!

Enjoyed this hike on Hadley mtn even though it was wet and slippery out today and cloudy and windy at the top. Took me a little under 3 hours round trip and I was going pretty slow and steady on the way up and cautious on the way down. It's pretty short and the views from the fire tower are great!

This was much harder than we anticipated. it took 2 hours to the tower and 1.5 hours to come back down. It was slippery and very wet, but it was worth it! Definitely wear hiking shoes if you want dry feet.

Crane mtn is a fun hike in the Southern Adirondacks and it doesn't seem to be anywhere near as crowded as some of the other more popular trails in the area. There are lots of steep, rocky sections going up and the way down is also challenging. Took the red trail up and blue to red down. The views are amazing and the pond is beautiful! There are sections that could definitely be marked better but overall great hike!

Crane Mountain was awesome. There are lots of challenging rocky areas on the way up. The lasers are a cute and nice change in pace. The views at the top are awesome! The trek down is also challenging and requires some balance but it’s doable. At certain parts the trail could be marked better but overall it was great and I would hike it again!

Not too hard for most beginners but I’d do another smaller shorter hike first but its a constant climb in elevation the first half and from about .5 to .9 is a really steep section on bedrock but after you get to the point where on the mountain your sorta in a valley and the trees get smaller and thinner the hike becomes alot more mello with just a few more climbs but its not that bad. The top has a decent amount of exposed peak with good views looking towards sacandaga and the west and a little bit of views looking east but the fire tower offers panoramic views but the top part of the tower is locked right now, im assuming because the steward isnt up there this time of the year. We overnighted about 50 feet from the exposed part of the peak in the woods on top of the mountain, hammocked from some hardwoods with a tarp over head but the temp droped probably 10 degrees cooler than the town of Hadley because your on a mountain and it rained the first half of the night but then we got up at 4 to look at the stars and saw in total 6 shooting stars. Then sun glowed and all the valleys had clouds and the sunrise was beautiful. Definitely would recommend this hike too all.

Great trail! Went up Red and took Blue down. A little wet right now but not unbearable. Was surprisingly very busy but still had a great time!

I did this hike about 23 years ago with my son who was 10 at the time. He loved it. this time I brought my 12 year old neice. Her favorite was the ladders. Also my favorite! Definitely a great workout!

Took the red up and the blue to the red down. Closer to 3.5 miles round trip. It had rained heavily 24 hours before we hiked it so some wet rocks and flowing water on the trail. The ladders didn’t faze me but I was glad I didn’t bring my dog as I used all fours in several places. For me going done was hard on my knees. I think this is a beautiful trail and well worth the effort. The views on the up and down were great!

There are views the entire time on the summit path, but the 16 ring ladder was rough with the dog. I would stay left toward crane mountain pond, and hike it out and back, if you have a dog with you.
