I went dow to the water and the oer lookout. Robin's trail is over grown and has a lot of poison ivy and the last lookout has no lookoutdue to trees (comment section in trail log). There are timber rattle snakes but if you bring a pole you'll be fine. I only saw and just poked it with my pole to get it to move. Great views of the high peaks and the lake.

This was a very rewarding little hike. A steady but gentle climb to a very lovely view. Well maintained trail. Trailhead wasn't exactly where Google Maps took us based on the "Directions" link above, but it's nearby.

It's a shame that a trail which offers beauty, tranquility and solitude is in such poor condition. Granted, the preceding day had rained, but at least 4 sections of trail were bogged for 10-30 yards. Robin Run is overgrown and 10+ small trees have fallen over the trail, a few of which make the trail nearly impassable. Advice: Skip Essex Point and just go to Ore Bend, the views are better there. The overlook at Essex is non-existent due to tree growth.

great view of the lake if the cloud cover isn't too low when you hike.

First, wait till it dries out, at lot. Gnats were miserable. Rated as scenic, was disappointing Pretty trail itself (beware of poison ivy and snakes), the promised “Essex view” was meh, and would not have been anything once the trees leaf out. That said, the view from the outlook half way up was outstanding out to the SW. it might be worth it just to do that as a quick 4m hike with a nice break or lunch stop. Finally, note that the full end to end came in at 6.6 when doing it as an out and back (ie not robins run option)

This was a great hike, I only went up to ore overlook because of time, but the view was great. I had the trail all to myself as all of the other hikers went on other trails. The only other foot prints in the snow were deer it was amazing.

My Golden and I loved this trail and the view. We didn’t see any other hikers on a Friday afternoon.

Very easy trail, about 20 mins to top, and great views for the effort! Highly recommend

Ran in to Rattlesnakes on the trail, do not hike it. in warm weather

A really nice and easy family friendly hike! Great views for such a short hike.

Pretty solid hike. Essex viewpoint is blocked by a few trees.

This is a pretty cool complex of trails that leads to some nice overlooks of Lake Champlain, the High Peaks, the Wildway corridor and Vermont. The trails are wide and really easy to walk. There's some neat stuff like old cabin remains. I'd like to check this place out some more in the future. Note: There are a ton of connecting trails here that aren't listed on All Trails. You may want to research up on them before heading to Split Rock.

Super easy trail that follows an old logging road. The overlook has a great view of the valley. It would certainly be a pleasant picnic spot.
