A Crucial American Victory Here in the autumn of 1777, American forces met, defeated and forced a major British army to surrender. This crucial American victory in the Battle of Saratoga renewed patriots

Mother’s Day Walk, we walked the entire 4.2 mile walk with 9 year old boys. Nice scenic walking, paths well maintained. Dogs allowed, we came a week after the storm, and they had it all cleaned up!

It was a beautiful day on this historic trail. It was so warm that I actually got sunburned.

They have a nice couple challenges

Stumbled upon mountain lion tracks by one of the landmarks on the drive through trail..
beautiful place.

Awesome park with a lot of history. Have done trail running and hiking here. Brought my dad here the third time I came and we caught a volunteer historian giving a guided tour to a boy scout troop. Highly recommend catching a tour if you can.

beautiful fall day for a,nice walk around the battlefield!

Walked this on a warm and windy 240th Anniversary of the 2nd Battle of Saratoga. The grassy trail was wet from the morning rain, but was well mowed and presented no worries for ticks. The interpretative signs along the old Champlain Canal were interesting. Migrating warblers flitted about us as we walked along the old canal. Overall, a very enjoyable little walk in a seldom visited part of the battlefield.

A great bike around an awesome Rev War battlefield. Highly recommended.

Light hiking, and very pretty. I try to hit this trail at least once a month.

Beautiful. Historic. And a wonderful array of birds!

Went here in the fall of 2016. Nice trail that is fairly well groomed with one area where there is some elevation change. At the bottom it was a little soggy but that was the only hitch. I would call it light to moderate traffic as I went later in the day and a little later in the season.

We visited this location today and were very pleased with the trail loop. the hike was very muddy and messy which was to be expected as a big thunderstorm came through yesterday. I loved learning the history behind the battle of 1777 while we hiked the historical trail. Our hike ended up being 4.6 miles. We will be back for sure!

enjoyable experience

Nice park for hiking with varied terrain. The trail needed better marking in a couple of areas but for the most part, map and markings are easy to follow for first timers. There is plenty to keep you interested. I would go back.

This is a great trail for dogs. It ended up being more of a workout than we thought due to the snow and the hills. Really pretty though.

Beautiful and Peaceful. Cool learning the history along your walk.

There is a $3 pp entry fee to hike. The trail was well maintained. Half of the trail is through fields with full sun and the other half is through woods. Nice, east trail.

Great Snowshoe Trail on a sunny cold winter day

Monday, October 12, 2015

This was a great hike full of rich American history. The area itself is beautiful and the people that work at the visitors center are very knowledgeable and friendly.

The four mile hike was beautiful. We saw tons of deer. And getting to hear the history of the battles was a wonderful bonus. I went in early October which was the anniversary of some of the battles. It's insane to believe 237 years ago in the same place you are hiking there was a battle. Spooky to think about. They provide you literature on the battles, or have guided tours. Stop in the visitor center, the people who work there are so passionate about their jobs!

The trail was well maintained. It's an easy "hike" with a lot of really cool history along the way. If you take all of the little side trails and check out all of the cannons, plaques, and other things you could easily make a half day trip out of it.
