Robert Moses State Park has about five miles of ocean beach from which visitors can swim, surf or surf-fish. Anglers can also fish from piers. A day-use boat basin can accommodate 40 boats. The park also has picnic areas and the 18-hole Robert Moses State Park Pitch & Putt Golf Course.

Easy, gentle walk. Very scenic and historical.

walked this one a million times

I did this trail yesterday (10/24) from the late afternoon into the night and it wielded a beautiful sunset at the end. It was quite a nice change from the bustling crowds of the summer. The beach was beautiful but be sure to dress in layers as the wind can get pretty sharp.

Always a great, relaxing, walk. There's plenty of wildlife to check out and of course, the lighthouse.

If you want a scenic ride it's ok. Mostly narrow path and slow moving riders can be tough to get around. Don't expect a real workout or path challenge since not a lot of open space.

Easy ride hit the parkway from Field 2 to the lighthouse and back. When you get to a certain part of the lighthouse sand trail you will either have to walk your bike. Unless you have fat tires. Carry some cash and add a trip up the lighthouse as well.

Quick walk to lighthouse

Every summer since I was twelve. The sand stretches make for slow going with bikes; personally, I'd rather walk. We always go back via the (ocean side) beach.

I did this hike in January because I wanted to see the Sunken Forest. It was a very long hike but it was beautiful scenery. I plan on hiking the whole island soon.

Great ride. Once you get through the sand road. Had to walk to pavement. Beautiful scenery, beaches on both sides. General store was open and was told it will be open till 10/15/2016. Enjoy The Ride!

Awesome summer ride! Once you park at Robert Moses State Park Field 5, head eastward toward Fire Island Lighthouse. There's approximately one half mile of hard packed gravel (and a little soft sand) to get through. Once into Fire Island, you will enjoy biking on smooth concrete. Helmet should be worn and a bell is helpful as you will likely navigate through many pedestrians (locals & tourists) depending on the time of day/year. You can also navigate north and south off the main drag (Central Walk) for beautiful scenery in both directions. The towns (Kismet, Saltaire and Fair Harbor) each have their own business districts with restaurants, bars and convenience stores. I highly recommend this road cycling trail. Enjoy!
