Loved this hike! It really wasn’t as difficult as some of the “hard” trails I’ve been on. It was muddy and wet but it’s been raining a bunch lately. The view at the top is beautiful. I’ll hike it again in the summer.

quite muddy and wet towards the summit which made it a bit more difficult (more so on the way down), but the view was breathtaking. took about 4.5 hours from the farthest parking lot to the top and then back. hard to see some of the trail markers, but it was manageable. had to walk through water which went right to my knees due to a lot of rain recently. definitely will go again and would recommend.

Camped overnight at the first Campground after the summit trail (6ish miles in). The trail got a little gnarly with downed trees and leaves obscuring the path at times. Definitely a remote hike in shoulder season as we were the only campers and saw only 2 people on the way out

Really beautiful though trail was very wet today so last mile or so to summit was slippery on the rock(s). Could drive our Subaru Outback almost to the second parking lot near Pharoah mountain trailhead but encountered giant knee-deep puddle in road. (There’s another parking area before the puddle.) Amazing views in all directions. Took us 4.5 hours with two adults and two dogs and nearly an hour spent at the top.

This is 8+ miles!! Lots of ups and downs both way. A bit hard to follow in places. The view is partially blocked by trees too. Definitely won’t be doing again.

Stumbled upon this trail while out for a drive. A great trail especially in the fall. We did 3.9 miles and it was very easy to follow trail. The pond is very nice and does have some rock scrambles on the one side that for kids can be tricky, but 3 young ones managed. Majority of trail is level with some various ups and downs nothing at all difficult. Did on 10-15-19 and trees have great color. Would definitely come back.

Great hike into the Pharaoh Wilderness. Plenty of parking space. Start off hiking down the old dirt roadway (not passable via car) to what used to be a parking lot. Following AllTrails, you’ll cross a wooden footbridge through a marsh until you enter the forest (another check in / sign in spot) and you’ll continue into the forest. The trail is wide and well marked. You’ll reach a short bridge over a stream and continue through the forest to Pharaoh Lk. There are spots along the trail for scenic views. You’ll come upon a way point where you can take other trails to other destinations. Lean-To’s and a restroom are at this location. There’s a small bridge w/ a great view of the narrows. I continued to follow the blue blazes and AllTrails map. To me the best scenic view was from the way point foot bridge as opposed to where AllTrails takes you. Trail was easy enough and in a great forest setting. Would recommend for an skill level. I’d say it’s kid friendly.

What spectacular scenery. The stream and waterfalls. It was one of the best hiking trails I have been on yet. Some rocks and tree roots to watch for but a easy trail.

Great place to see the fall colours. We did a loop which included Pharaoh Lake. Relatively easy to drive to the big water hole. Toughest spot is the ditch in the first 100 ft. Though vehicles did cross the water hole too far back in to chance doing this. Leave it to the locals

It’s been a while, (30 years), since I’ve been here. I was surprised to see a “moderate” rating. Don’t let that scare you away. This trail is well kept, and easily traversed. If you have a higher vehicle, you can take about .6 off, by driving to the actual trailhead, not the first parking lot. The camping areas were clean, and the exact same as the last time I was there...which was nice to see. Thanks to all the people that visit, for keeping it beautiful.

I've hiked this trail several times carrying my toddler and it is an easy trail to the pond. The trail around the pond is not as well maintained and there are overgrown spots. The trail is marked, which made it easier to figure out where the trail was in the spots where there was overgrowth. It looks like people tend to hike to the pond but not around it. I would consider this more of a nature walk and less of a "hike," so if you're looking for hiking conditions (elevation gains, rock scrambles, etc.), this is not for you. if you're looking for a nice walk through the woods with some very minor hills, then this is a good choice. It would be perfect for a beginner hiker.

Beautiful trail, this was wonderful on a fall afternoon. Definitely recommend going in late September, it wasn’t buggy at all. A few crickets at the top but that’s about it. We would definitely recommend going up to the second lot to park your car, we walked up from the first lot and a 9 mile hike becomes 11 miles when you add in the access road.

Trail is easy to moderate until the last mile, then it gets very rocky and steep. Gets slippery in certain spots. The view at the top is 100% worth it. Pack a lunch and stay a while! I went in late summer and it was mostly dry on the trail and no bugs. Very enjoyable hike.

When reading reviews on this trail my only concern was if I could park my car at crane pond i wasn’t sure if my Nissan rouge would make it through the last water part so I didn’t try, there is a short trail that will get you around the water!! But when I got to the other side I saw another rouge and a Subaru Forester so I could have made it!! I will say you need to drive slow and watch out for rocks and potholes!! As for the hike it was hard but rewarding when I got to the top!!!
