Moreau Lake State Park's lake lies amid hardwood forests, pine stands and rocky ridges. Shady groves of trees shelter picnic grounds and a pavilion overlooking the lake. Wooded campgrounds are quiet and secluded, offering facilities for group campers, as well as tent and trailer sites. The sandy beach, nature, hiking and cross-country ski trails, opportunities for boating, fishing and ice fishing, and proximity to the Saratoga Springs and Lake George areas make the park attractive to visitors. A wooden pavilion with a 120-person capacity and three canvas tents, which can accommodate from 35-50 people, may be reserved on a daily basis. In the summer, beach lounges, beach umbrella and fishing gear can be rented. In the winter, snowshoes are available for rent daily. Located on the beach road is our vacation rental. The Lake Shore Cottage provides everything from a refrigerator, stove, dishes and utensils to a screened porch, bathroom with shower, bedding, pillows and a cozy fireplace.

Depending on your abilities, this trail is ok as 2 mile hikes go be certain to bring plenty of bug spray and beer It is your average walk in the woods, rocks, tree stumps and roots but it great fun.

nice little walk. You have to pay $8 for parking though in the summer.

Great hike for kids if they are up for a fair amount of elevation gain! View from the top is worth it.

Mon 5/27: Small parking lot is minimally marked, hidden by trees, located on trail-side of Spier. Can also park at boat launch lot on Spier just south of trail lot, only a couple minutes walk from trail. Western Ridge trail has round yellow markers. Starting WR from this end is primarily in trees, usually rocky, mostly climbing, at times muddy/soggy, with a lot of mosquitoes. As others have said, keep track of the trail markers. Went to Scenic view 13, the first overlook from this end of the WR trail, and back. As a 1st hike in this park, it was worth the view. Would recommend trail shoes given terrain and current conditions. Looking forward to doing more of WR, and adding some of the connecting trails to create a longer loop.

Great hike great work out with great views

Easy hike, beautiful view.

I love this trail. It's just gnarly enough to introduce someone to hiking. I took my friend with me and she loved it. The trail is not easy to discern though, so you have to be alert.

Beautiful, quiet, woodsy trail with a gorgeous overlook of the Hudson River and mountains in the distance. Slightly uphill in the beginning with two muddy areas but leveling out and very dry for the remainder of the trail near the overlook and to the summit. Appropriate for beginner hikers, children and active older adults. I plan to bring my parents on this hike in a few weeks! Lovely.

We LOVE the trail system at Moreau SP; it's close to the house and offers a variety of terrain to suit all abilities. Today took us from the Lake Bonita parking area, along the Waterfall Trail up to the lookout point, and then back along the Lake Ann Trail. Currently there's a fair amount of mud/water on the trails (mud season!), quite deep in some places; wear appropriate foot/leg-wear and walk through it to help avoid erosion of the trails. The streams and waterfalls currently look amazing with all the water.

Beautiful scenery, well marked trail. But couldn’t find trails beyond purple trail!!!!

I love this trail system, can walk all day and make your own loops. 4/20/19: extremely wet: if you hike now please WALK THREW THE MUD not around!

why should you have to pay for parking just to hike up from the park when there are 4 other ways to get to the same place that cost nothing? And this trail is listed as dogs ok. Not in any state park I've ever seen. And the other four say that dogs only allowed on leash.

I hiked the loop yesterday. lots of slush/ice with some bare patches. this trail is one of my favorites, but crampons were the order of the day.

Bit icey, bring some hiking poles but I had a nice time.

Nice, short hike with a decent view at the first overlook. My GPS logged 2.4 miles, 540 feet of elevation gain. You can connect to the Lake Ann trail, or walk the whole ridge to Spier Falls Road. Very icy on 3/17 when we went up, microspikes pretty much mandatory.

A nice short little hike. Mostly ice and packed snow.

Great snowshoe hike around Lake Bonita to get the blood flowing on a chilly winter morning. Easy, rolling trail with some portions more broken out than others. The abundant green discs make the trail easy to follow even if there isn't any snow on the ground. Lots of deer tracks. The picnic bench at the pump house makes for a great place to stop and make some coffee, relax a little, and enjoy the sunshine before heading back to the car park.
