Explore the most popular nature trips trails in Moreau Lake State Park with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

The trails aren't marked very well especially on where to head back to the parking area. We ended up getting lost...just glad we ran into someone who helped us find the right direction & got back to the parking lot.

Great trail, beautiful scenery. Found all 3 geocaches and even caught a small smallmouth. Place to stop and sit, and enjoy the view or have lunch. Many varieties of mushrooms. I recommend going around counterclockwise, as the second half of the loop is easier terrain. One of my new favorite spots.

Great hike with great scenery. Keep your eyes out for the trail markers we almost went off the trail a couple of times.

Great hike, took the grandchildren, stopped at the overlook for lunch, let the kids fish, and hiked around the lake. Good times

Overall nice hike. The last stretch to the overlook (on the light blue trail) is the most challenging. Be prepared for a steeper rocky ascent. Our dog (30 lbs, athletic) had no problems. I don’t know that I would take elderly parents as the review suggest, unless they are in scrambling shape! Nice view. Plenty of room to sit down and take a breather. The rest of the hike is pretty easy. Look for the red trail marker for the Red Oak Ridge to start. $8 parking fee. Stop and cool your feet in the lake on your way out!

This trail is a nice easy hike with a beautiful view of the lake. It's better to enjoy it slow and take in all the surrounding beauty.

Enjoyed the trails and the many types of mushrooms!

this trail is one of my favorites. it offers a great mix of water, woods, and sun, and it just difficult enough to make it a great hike. I would not, however, recommend it for a beginner.

again. this trail is NOT dog friendly. It begins within the park proper. No state park will allow dogs off leash.

Good hike with pretty steep slopes. Just 1.8 miles one way which makes it not so strenuous.
Beautiful trail through the woods.

This hike is much steeper and rockier than described, toward the top especially. Not recommended for small kids, small dogs or people who aren't in decent shape. Overall it was a good hike, nice overlook.

this trail is definitely not for weekend warriors. the lake Bonita trail is a very nice hike, however, and one of my go-to activities.

this trail is NOT dog friendly. it begins in a state park. I don't know who writes your reviews, but accurate information doesn't seem to be a priority with you.

Definitely a pretty hike although it was pretty steep as you get halfway to the top. Not too buggy which was wonderful and the view was gorgeous even though it’s kind of blocked by trees but still nice and relaxing to admire.

I would not recommend this trail for a beginner, but one of my favorites.

Great Hike! Great View - small window, but very pretty that overlooks Moreau Lake.

Trails are marked, but some need to be re-marked as trees have fallen down.

I would rate the trails moderate to hard, depending on the trail your hiking.

Stick to the Blue trail and it will bring you to the overlook.

This trail is not suitable for kids or pets at all.

Nice easy layout. You can access other trail systems and loop out and make it a longer hike. Well marked.

A nice trail. The hike was easy and fun. Just being able to sit by the water was so relaxing. Next time I think I will try some fishing.

Nice hike. Had to pay $8 for parking though. Even though I liked the hike I wouldn’t pay $8 to do it again

Awesome little loop to do if you want to do a short quick hike. Takes about 40 minutes if you stop a few times to enjoy the views!

We were looking for a good 7-8 mile hike with some elevation gain. The Moreau Lake State Park trail system is perfect for making your own loops, which you can change en route according to weather, and your time and energy constraints. We used the Grant Mountain Trail recording as a basis, but modified it to include some bushwhacking but mostly staying on trails (and avoiding the steep descent/ascent towards the end of the track shown on this page). See "Loop De Doo" track for our 7.7 mile jaunt which also has some notes on "new" Red Trail to connect from Eastern Ridge (blue) trail to Lake Ann (purple) trail. Very fun, beautiful view of the lake. There is a nice picnic table at one spot that looks over the lake. Trails are fun.

great work out, easy and beautiful hike! did it today with my 7 month old in a chest harness, he loved it too! will definitely be spending more time here throughout the summer!

“Moderate” - we experience a bit more like “Moder - ondack”. From the parking lot is was fairly moderate, then the steepness and the terrain changed. There was winding rocky ledges, some of our group was on all fours climbing up the nearly vertical 1/2 way point. As challenging, but much easier on the way back. The view was worth the climb.

Easy hike but still a great work out! The pup loved the hike and the lake. Will definitely be going back!

Super easy hike for young kids and old dogs if that's what you are looking for! Great family spot. Will explore more tangents next time.

Climbing rock ladders can be extremely dangerous if foliage is even slightly wet. Definitely not recommended for small children (

I hiked this trail for the first time today. I don't know why this trail is marked as easy. It depends on what part of the trail you are talking about. some parts are easy, some are most certainly not. I would not recommend this trail for a beginner.
