Super easy, well kept trail. The lake is really lovely. It's a little crowded for my taste, but what a great time of year to go. The leaves are starting to change, and it will only get better in the next couple of weeks.

Skipped Lake Awosting, Did Rainbow Falls and the Shawangunk Ridge Trail up to Litchfield Ledge, Castle Point, and Hamilton Point Carriage Rd back. The cut-through from Castle Point down to Hamilton Point CR is a little hard to find and is a straight down scramble. Beautiful.

Beautiful!

beautiful place to enjoy with family

Easy Walk Beautiful View !

Beautiful views, easy path with some incline but not steep.

Gorgeous views on this trail, very kid-friendly and lots of signs, just follow the red diamonds. Lots of other good trails too. We went with 3,5,8 years old kids and they were fine the whole time. You can bathe at the lake if you want and there is just a parking fee to get in.

One of the best hikes I’ve done in a while! Did this solo- the trail was very well marked, manicured but also secluded. So many scenic lookouts it was difficult to keep pace! I did the loop and then later the waterfall trail which was worthwhile, a total of just under 5 miles when you factor in the connection paths. I spotted salamanders, millipedes and caterpillars. The trail was almost empty during the week. I did have to pay the $10 parking fee but it paid off because the trails were so well maintained.

Very cool waterfall! A great place for a picnic to chill and watch the falls. Like others mentioned, not a "hike", but a cool, quick stroll.

Very easy walk, nice views around the lake and plenty of good places for picnics etc. Not the kind of walk we’d do but my partner had hurt his ankle!

Some of the most gorgeous views ever- majestic!!!

Very pleasant 2.5 miles hike on a large carriage road. in different points, get out of the main road and get to beautiful view points.

I considered the trail moderate and very scenic- the Awosting waterfall is breath taking and inspiring. The creek it pools into is cool and refreshing on a hot day, though fall is now approaching. There are little detours on the trails that bring you to beautiful views. Some to little creeks, others to rocky ground overlooking the mountain. You just have to adventure and see for yourself.

Very nice. It’s not necessarily a “hike” (more like a nice stroll) but you get to see pretty waterfalls and forest. I think this would be a great walk for families with kiddos.

Super easy trail-good for families with children and older folk. Beautiful views of the lake!

Great time

Awesome trail! I wouldn’t call it a “hike” because the trail is so well groomed and the terrain is very easy to navigate. Beautiful series of waterfalls.

Cliff and lake views- nice

Great trail! The main part is on a carriage road and very easy to walk. There are options to break off onto various (more challenging) footpaths along the route, but even just staying on the main road was beautiful—small waterfalls, scenic views, and interesting wildlife! Not too crowded either. After three miles this trail ends and morphs into other trails, like the Castle Point trail, etc. AllTrails counts it as a 10 mile loop if you do a combination of all of those smaller trails after the 3 mile Awosting trail (which ends at Lake Awosting). The whole ten miles is worth it though...crystal clear lakes, cliffs, rocky outcrops, mostly flat the whole time if you stay on the carriage road. A great walk!

5 stars for great views! Nice easy trail, waterfalls were full and beautiful today!

we did this yesterday with a slight alterations. absolutely beautiful views. We got caught in an endless thunderstorm (there was only a 20% chance it would storm) on the way back through Castle Rock which was quite terrifying with all the lightning, but also incredible with the views of the storm over the land. we had done this one before when it was very, very hot and it was much harder so the rains were actually a nature blessing in disguise.

Falls were flowing well today. Easy for children. Did find a tick on my sons shoe so be watchful.

Everything I have hiked in Minnewaska has been great and this one is great too. Nice for hiking, picnicking, or just a leisurely stroll.
A nice lake, great view points, a water fall, and even small beach if you so desire.
I would suggest going on a weekday or not peak time as it can get very crowded.

My only complaint was with the Millbrook Mountain foot path - at the start a sign stated that its a mile hike (2 miles there and back)that leads to a some great cliffs (always a favorite of mine), About 75% of the way there is another sign that states you can not go further without a MOHONK pass (its not like i could purchase one mid trail) and upon arrival at the end of the trail i came to find the cliffs were closed for nesting falcons. I am not about to disturb the falcons but it would have been nice to know prior to the start since its really the reason to take this trail.
Both were surprises and NOT stated anywhere at the start. I only bring this up because everything else was VERY well marked so it seemed odd.
