The forest is awesome. Beautiful towering trees throughout. Great waterfall that really provides beauty after a long rainy day. Overall a really cool place to be!!

Very nice hike. If you just want to hike for exercise and don't care about views, take the blue path. We took the blue to red/orange/yellow back to orange and ending on the red. A little over 5.5 miles RT. The orange trail was long as well as the blue but a nice pay off seeing the 9/11 monument and a small but nice view of the mountains. There were nice little waterfalls along the way. The yellow trail also offered a view point At one point we felt as though we were walking into a magical area the way the sun reflected off the twisted trees and stream. The red trail offered a lot of little cascading waterfalls and a little stone and wooden house. overall a nice hike. I would rate it as moderate only because of the somewhat steep uphill hike on the blue trail.

easy

Great hike to a beautiful waterfall. I took the red trail up. Blue trail looked pretty taxing and I was worried about footing in the snow. Continued to the end of the red trail but did not explore orange trail area with the 9/11 memorial. Next time.

Nice trails, cool waterfalls and little ponds. Trails aren't too narrow (most places) which makes it easier to avoid ticks. Trails are well marked. My dog and I enjoyed our hike and will definitely be back.

Took the blue path up and red back down based on other reviews. All accurate that blue is more difficult. I wish I had more time to explore. I thought the trails were well marked. There were no trail maps, but I went online and downloaded a PDF from the Putnam county website.

Trails themselves were fine. Nice waterfall and some scenic viewpoints. Downsides were no trail maps, a sign of the trails that appeared to be drawn by a 10 year old, very confusing to follow. Wouldn't say this was hard, more easy to moderate

Narrow trails with lots of little adventures along the way. Had a ton of fun exploring.

Amazing and so beautiful and relaxing. The water fall is just perfect.

This trail up to the mountain is amazing! !!

Good hills for running

As easy or hard as you would like to make it. Follow the Red Markers for a slightly easier hike to the waterfalls and the Blue for a nice challenging one. We started on the Blue and finished on the Red. I cut it short due to rain coming but it was a nice hike and nice scenery along the way. Definitely one to do!

Great spot and make sure to visit the neighboring Great Hollow Nature Preserve

Excellent hiking, great trail running and good mountain biking segments. Well marked with blazes and typically low traffic. Offers some challenging elevation gains sections on the blue blaze trail.

This hike is super!

Very nice walk through the woods! The trails are marked well and we did the blue/red/orange/yellow/red trail for 5.4 miles. We saw only 3 people in the parking lot that we never saw again. There was a man with 3 children coming in while we were leaving. We were going to do a trail along the Hudson, but after reading how crowded they get... this was PERFECT! It was also perfect in that it is 9/10 and to remember those fallen on 9/11, 15 years ago, was fitting.

The view was amazing! My boyfriend and I did this trail. We took the path that was extremely steep at first a bit hard but very nice. The view was worth the hike. Breathtaking. The water wasn't flowing much when we went as well. A little sad but hopefully next time it will be flowing more

Nice trails, well maintained. I use them often with my dog for hiking and dog walks. Something for everyone here. From the parking lot on Haviland Hollow: the red triangle trail is a mostly level but tends to get boggy in wet weather. The solid red trail is a bit more uphill but manageable. Both lead to a scenic waterfall. The blue triangle and solid blue have much steeper inclines and are much better suited for avid hikers. These lead up to the orange and yellow trails which have wonderful view points and a 9/11 memorial. The updated maps are much appreciated.

nice area with trails of varying difficulty. The overlook is beautiful in the summer with loads of wild blueberries on the way.

This is a great place to train for OCR's. The outer Red-->Orange-->Blue trail offers a 6.5mi loop with approx. 1,250ft in elevation gain. Most of the gain is tackled in the last couple miles on Blue. There is not much traffic here aside from some dog walkers and hikers. See my recent track here: http://www.mapmyfitness.com/workout/1143775917

The hike is pretty cool. Tons of trails to choose from.

Really enjoyed this hiking area. The GPS takes you right to the parking lot where you can start up the tougher blue trail or the more moderate red. the blue trail is the steepest I encountered by far, but the orange can be a bit steep once you cross the stream you will run into. The little waterfalls are very nice with a bridge to cross and all trails are very well marked. Just note that there are a few trails that's were marked at places designated outside of county land that did not have markings. Also every trail seems to have a side loop trail marked with triangles linking them to others. The 9/11 firefighter memorial was very touching and the view from there was decent. Overall took two of us about three hours with normal trail shoes on, but if you have them wear something with stiffer soles as it can be rocky at points.

This place is awesome! I'm a very avid hiker and this was a great hour and a half day trip. The trails are well kept, and there are maps available for use in the parking lot. The waterfalls are amazing!

Nice place to come for a long afternoon. you can really make up your own journey here combining any number of trails to your liking. We took the pup and she had a blast. We pretty much covered the entire park in relative ease. Mostly flat ground however there are a few trails with a bit of an incline. Some nice views too. All in all a nice, close place. My favorite part was bouldering the water fall area.
