Mills Mansion Staatsburgh State Park is a great place to spend the day. Trail is mostly shaded by woods and there are great views of the Hudson River. Trails are part of Mills Estate (now a NYS Park) and there is a lovely lawn to relax and picnic on after a hike. Property faces west so beautiful sunsets are possible.

Great place to camp and hike. Breathtaking views of the Hudson. All four of my young kids competed this hike.

Great find! Did the river trail, good for all skill levels

I have hiked this trail for years. Some days you can find quotes hung on trees limbs from a local publisher. The quotes lend a positive vibe and set the tone for a sense of peace in the woods. Otherwise this trail is worth the hike anytime of year. Just be careful when near the river edge, the trail becomes narrow.

This is a beautiful trail no matter what season it is. Nice and easy with good views of the river.

This is a nice easy walk with a few inclines. They have a few different trails. We started on blue trail and took white trail back. The white trail is nice & gets you close to the river.

on Norrie Point Trail

Monday, November 16, 2015

The trail begins at mills mansion and leads you along the Hudson to Norrie point. We followed the train tracks back and got a couple train winds!!!!

We absolutely loved this trail! It can be confusing however because the trail markers are not as clear as they should be.

The white trail along the river is great - the remainder could be blazed a bit more clearly, and the maps could match the blazes a little better, but they're fun as well. It's hard to really get lost this close to the river though, so this isn't a major knock. The campsites are a bit small, and somewhat confusingly marked. Not the greatest spot for camping, but being fairly accessible by mass transit makes this one worth visiting if you don't have a car.

Yesterday I saw probably one of the best sunsets I've seen around the NY area, there in Staatsburg! Beautiful place! Great choice for a summer house. Mill's had the right idea :) The area is full of friendly deer around the common grounds. The trail has amazing views of the Hudson river, colorful mountains, and a small light~house. The historic area would make for a great family outing, casual date, or friendly picnic! Just make sure to have a way to keep mosquitoes away (it's full of them during this time).

I believe the driving directions an incorrect "pin drop" location. Mills Mansion is across the river in Staatsburg, not in Ulster Park. I think the Norrie Point Trail entry on Alltrails would get you closer to Mills Mansion. However, the "pin drop" for this entry is close to Esopus Meadows which is a nice little hike with an easy trail to a view of the Hudson.

Great hike for the family. Well maintained trails, great views all times of the year (sleigh riding in winter!) Beautiful views of the Hudson River. I still haven't toured the mansion, but hope to this fall. Lots of historical information to absorb! Enjoy :)

Nice trail right along the river, there are a few cabins that the trail goes past so watch for surprised campers. A couple really nice viewpoints across the river at the hills and some castle looking building.

Nice afternoon hike. Easy. Bring the kids. Beautiful views of the Hudson. Riverside ice is cool in the winter, just don't fall in.. Bring camera & binoculars. Close to other family attractions.

This is one of my favorite areas for cross country skiing. I am waiting for snow that has not fallen yet in 2012!

on Norrie Point Trail

Saturday, September 04, 2010

we parked at the enviormental center walked on the lefttside of roadway and took the white trailhead after the bridge on leftside.the white trial also known as the river trail, because you see beautiful views of the hudson.the end which lead directly to the blue trail which leads you to the mills historic walk, there you will see historic houses and the beautiful mills mansion atop of a hill. you can walk around the compunds but to tour the inside of the mansion there a fee with tour guides. we returned via blue trail which allows you to see more historic houses. but be carefull as the trail brings you out into the roadway the first time just walk to your right and you will see the blue trail markings and the enterace to pick up the trail again. then you come out again and cross the street you will see a monument go through pick up the trail again you will exit the trail at the roadway just a few hundred feet where you will see where you started from on the white trail walk back to the parking.the only two problem we encountered were the white trail head was poorly maintained so look carefully. the other was there was garbage in an area in the middle of the hike looks like camp fire party gone wild.other than that the trails are marked very well, it was worth the 3.5 hour hike.

Nice and easy family hike with little signs about the history of the place around the mansion. Lots of deer on the property.
