Fabulous intertwining trail with plenty of elevation. The trails down to the Creek are steep but worth the effort. Fun to get off on a loop just to see where it leads. Be aware of bicyclists who don't know they're supposed to be on the west side. Great way to spend an hour or two on a nice Fall day.

Fun and close! Trails are not well marked, so it’s easy to get lost without a gps. All trails eventually loop back around.

Beautiful area to hike-- the first time I walked it, I got completely lost because the trails, while marked, are very confusing. They intersect many times and the colors are hard to follow.

The second time I hiked here, I used my phone much more, which helped me stay on track but robbed the experience of some of its serenity as looking down at a screen isn't an ideal way to be out in the woods for me.

I plan to familiarize myself further with these trails because it is a beautiful plot of land with good changes in elevation.

Nice set of trails. Word of warning to watch your foot in if it just recently rained. Trails can be very slick and steep! Very nice walk with the dogs however! Definitely recommended for a nice trek and many trails to weave through! Also watch for dogs off leash apparently!

Somewhat overgrown and very muddy.Probably better earlier in the year and not after the rain we just had.Very buggy but gave a good workout!

Nice trail and well shaded. Perfect for a hot summer day.

Nice park with a variety of hilly areas. I thought the trails were clearly marked but I also referred back to the trail map on my phone. I liked the blue trail. I don’t think i’d take small children on the white part of the trial near the bay, as the one side of the trail drops off into the the bay. The only bummer was that there were some heavy industrial machines grinding trees on the other side of the bay and it’s was pretty loud (see photo). I think it was just bad luck that i went on a day where they were working.

Trail is well marked on the east side of the bay. The west side of the bay is not marked at all and you will have to walk on the road twice if you chose to hike the loop. My recommendation is hike south from the beginning of the bay by MacGregors bar and as soon as you hit the road turn around and hike back, don't do the loop.

One of my favorite places to hike locally - that and Abe Lincoln right around the corner. Great little bit of trail system going down to the wet area with some neat streams (people kayak through). A little hilly but that adds to the fun. I recommend this to anyone as there are ways to make it easier or shorter if needed, or enough places to explore around for a few hours.

Love this hike! The trails are a little confusing at first, but there is always great wildlife encounter. The park is full of deer, chipmunk, squirrels, plenty of birds, and at the creek I always see turtles and frogs. This is a great hike during the winter too. You can really see the old rifle range with all the leaves gone. Typically, there is very little traffic, which could also be why I like this park so much.

Very buggy. Trails are marked but confusing. Was trying to loop and ended going back out on same trail. Would not do again.

Won't let me give it only 1 star. Didn't hike it. A friend and her niece had their rear windows smashed out in the parking lot. Don't want mine done.

we went here because it was marked dog friendly. unless you have a very independent dog, I would not recommend it. trails were incredibly steep in some spots, and we lost sight of the trail it was so overgrown in others. I'd say this is more meant for hiking and mountain bike riding.

First time coming here, nice trails, not badly marked. Lots of bugs as to be expected some trails were over grown with that said there was a gentleman near the old rifle range clearing brush back from trails with a machete.

some news views but paths are noy clear and bugs were horrible

Hiked the blue, white, and some of the red trail. Good elevation changes and marked trails.

I hiked this trail today. While some parts were really scenic, the trail itself is a mess. There is one section that is well marked, but the remainder requires a lot of guessing as to which paths to follow, and there are many turn offs around. I used this app to keep me on the trail, and good thing I did, otherwise I would have been lost. At one point the trail dumps you in the parking lot of McGregors on Empire Blvd and you need to walk close to a mile on Empire Blvd to get back into the woods. Dangerous and definitely not scenic.

Really surprised at the trail system here. Well marked and groomed. Diverse terrain. Two of us and a dog hiked blue through the center of the area and then white along the water / marsh area.

Love this trail. Can be hard to follow the markings, but the neat history you see and the varied landscape is awesome.

my favorite trail in Rochester

Tuesday, January 03, 2017

Nice trail. Lots of hills, some parts pretty muddy this time of year. Definitely good to take a picture of the map in the parking lot and use the map in this app to figure out the 3 mile loop. There are lots of intersecting trails in this park. Mostly I followed the white trail down to and along the water and then hopped on the yellow trail coming back. It was a nice hike and good exercise.

Great hike though the woods near water. Trails are clearly marked but this apps trail takes you on at least 2 colors. Easy to follow the trails even covered in leaves. Think I did white, yellow, red, blue and some of trail (which is where I saw the deer).

Great trails, well marked and clear! We'll definitely be back again!

great exercise with lots of up and downs, took a pic of the map before i went in helped alot

The trails themselves are well used but they are not very well marked. The intersection areas where multiple trails come together just have a sign but no map. If you don't remember what the map at the road says or you don't have a phone with you then you may end up in circles pretty easily.

Trails are tight up and downs and not friendly for biking.

I'd hike here again because it's a great work out. The bugs are bad in the summer for sure.

Loved it

Nice trails, quality hike, with views to inlets, people kayaking and canoeing. The only problem is that some areas of the trails aren't marked very well. We wound up getting off of marked trails, and found ourselves almost 2 hours walk from the car, in a residential neighborhood. Aside from that, a great place to hike in Rochester.

I've enjoyed hiking the trails at Lucien Morin Park. it's great to see the military history hasn't been erased completely.

the rifle range trail is named for the rifle range used by the national guard for training soldiers for the korean war.

follow the rifle range trail to get to the rifle range and target pit. there is also a pistol range and pit too.

the white gazebo is a former officers watchtower. Prior to use by the National Guard, a private gun club housed in a mansion occuoied the land in the 1920s. before that, it was agricultural, and if you hike in the spring you will see apple blossoms (most are growing on the hillside near the officer tower).

Nice time. Three plus miles, heart pounding, saw a snake, good inclines. One or two spots where the trail was being lost by edge of hills.
