Great trail, however signage and trail markings not clear. But getting lost was part of the fun.

good walk, the old north road section of the walk is a tic fest, lovely on the shoreline

Not sure why ranked moderate. Gentle slope, not a steep incline. Sandy terrain. Trail well maintained. Super short. Not amazing views but pretty foliage. Late June is probably too late for the wildflowers.

The first part of the trail that has the actual dunes is nice and we'll marked, but the further larger loop is not and we got very lost. Wasn't super enjoyable to walk. I'd recommend doing the short dunes part at the beginning only.

Beautiful water views from the cliffs. Nice wooded, mostly shady. Trail well maintained. Be wary of tics.

Beautiful views but way too many ticks. I never experienced anything like it. My dog had literally over 20 ticks on him. Brought some home too after checking ourselves thoroughly. Not worth it!

I liked this hike, long and easy. From Old North Trail we took Coastal Trail and we saw many scenic views, so beautiful!!! Be aware of ticks, we brought one home :)

Loved it! Great outlooks and scenery! Moderate to light traffic. Dogs and open field in starting parking area - perfect.

Easy walk. Runners beware as lots of loose rocks on beach. Nice views.

We walked north from the parking lot along the trail to the turn around point and then walked along the rocky beach back. Lots of great views

The loop on the dunes was really nice. We walked the rest of the by the water instead of following the trail.

Great trail. Did the smaller loop with my 4 y.o. and he was fine on his own. No bugs at all in late April. Amazing views all around. Try to go early in the morning if you want seclusion, as it gets popular on nice days.

I enjoyed the hike but just really wanted to comment on the state park's lack of signage of specific trails, directions, and marked trails. The map that was provided at the parking lot (by the beach) does not correlate with signage on the actual hikes. Thankfully, my husband and I have a good sense of direction and found our way easily but for others who need clearly marked trails, beware.

Parked at convenient overlook. Very moderate trail through varied terrain. The trails are well marked although I didn’t see one called Hither Hills Trail. Suggest to skip the easternmost part of the path as it goes onto the road and doesn’t add anything in terms of beauty or interest. (Actually goes past a carting company. What is that part for??). Otherwise nice views of the water and lively plant life. Laurels? Azaleas?

Great trail! My suggestion: do the trail in reverse, forget about the eastern bit of the loop and cut over the train tracks, and then add the coastal trail to gain back some distance. Perfect weather in mid-March

11.29.19. An easy loop with some great sea views towards the Connecticut coast. A nice mix of forest and coastline. Here are my stats if you are wondering what you might be in for: Distance: 3.1 miles Elevation Gain: 233 feet Moving Time: 1:12:55

Mea culpa...should have read the reviews on bugs. Horrible mosquito conditions even with a 10+ mph wind. We cut the hike short.

This is a very quick trail. Easy enough for small kids to do. Was VERY buggy, a lot of mosquitos. We had to reapply bug spray frequently. Trail comes out at the harbor which is a red sand beach. Nice for a quick walk.

I dipped off the recorded trail towards the end because it seemed to follow a paved road near the lake, but otherwise it was a nice hike. Surprisingly varied for coastal area. Don’t sleep on this - it’s a nice break away from all the humans out in the Hampton’s!

A variety of terrain, topography and scenery made this a terrific day hike with the wife and the dog. Some stellar views of LI Sound (with Connecticut & Rhode Island in the distance) from atop the rather abrupt bluff edges. Be sure to leash your dog and watch your step; some of these trails literally bottom out after years of exposure to the Northeast elements. We went when it was cold so tick activity was not a factor. But I can see it being as issue when the mercury rises. This 8 mile loop route was just what we needed. I'd definitely do it again.

I really liked this trail. The dunes weren't that impressive, especially compared to dunes in other parts of the country. But the early part of the trail was pretty unique. The little trees with brown leaves growing in the sand with the dunes on either side. It made me think of some kind of video game land or something. A bunch of ladies picking cranberries on a north part of the trail. Pretty fun little trail
