Very easy. Conditions are a little icy in spots. Of course we were the only people today

Trails are wide and grassy in some points. Not hard, would rate easy-moderate. Gradual elevation. Keep dogs on leash as bear have been sighted on occasion, as well as other wildlife.

Easy trail, more of a walk than a hike. Not much of an elevation gain at all, any age can do this. Beautiful views at the top of the tower. Informative signs listed along the trail providing details about the history of fire towers which was interesting. The trail is marked well with markers that are a picture of a fire tower. A little confusing finding the start of the trail, pay close attention to the map to find where to park. The trail is surrounded by lakes that you can walk around after which are nice as well. Took at most 2 hours to complete.

Beautiful trail. Have snowshoed as well. Would certainly not consider it as difficult or hard. However, depending on your activity level, I guess it could be.

The best feature of this hike is that it hugs the lake throughout. My dog enjoyed dips in and out along the way! Footing can get a bit tricky because of tree roots, so it's wise to prepare for a skinned knee (which I learned the hard way-LOL),

Nice trail with varying difficulty levels. On average, I'd rate it moderate instead of hard. There's a tiny pebble beach along the way, which was a refreshing spot for our dog (and my feet!) to cool off.

Rather technical, but not much for elevation. Well maintained and marked in my opinion. At times the trail got wide, but the blaze was always spottable. I would run this trail again if in the area.

Great easy hike. slight climb in elevation. Great view from fire tower.

Nice view at the top, saw some dogs!! (Frogs, salamanders, voles, and finches, too!)

Combined this with Fire Tower and it was a good hike. Pretty forest views. Good if you want to work on your cardio and just get some miles in. Trail is mostly flat with tree roots. A few rocky areas.

Not well marked but Long Pond is almost entirely in view. The trail is also on Google maps.

Considering it’s close proximately to the Capital district, Grafton Park and the Long Pond are both clean and very well maintained.

Lovely and easy

Great little walk. Sturdiest fire tower I have been in. Great view, except for the cell phone tower.

Nice easy hike, but definitely not an lazy stroll thru the woods. Some muddy patches. Interesting signage about the history of the tower. Awesome views!

I don't know who rated this hard, but it is totally inaccurate. I combined this with Dickinson Fire tower, and while it took some extra time...it should be rated the same as that which is easy. All in all a good combo hike.

Fun little hike

Hike is very easy, a little muddy but pretty flat, so slipping isn't a concern. I followed Long Pond Road (it's a dirt road through Grafton State Park) to the trailhead, google maps got me there with no problem. Trailhead parking is very small, maybe 4 cars maximum. I followed the firetower signs for a while and came upon a house and barn - the path to the firetower is just beyond the house, don't stop! There is a red gate blocking a gravel trail up a hill, this is the firetower trail. The firetower itself was amazing, probably 60 feet up and provides incredible views. Definitely worth the trip, I plan to do this again with more people, as there is a nice clearing and a picnic table at the base of the tower. Be careful if you have a car with low clearance, the road to the trailhead was muddy!

I loved it..and the beach area..had a great little hike

on Long Pond Trail

Not well marked at all. I ended up having to turn around after .5mi because of a swampy area and no blazes. Lake view was nice, however and beach area was a good alternative.

The trail was extremely muddy (to be expected this time of year) but the many rocks helped us avoid much of the goop, and some recent maintenance was done to help with drainage on the trail. The trail is relatively flat, with a few upward climbs (and accompanying downward treks). My children and I enjoyed the few spots where you could look out across the lake, and wished there were more such vantage points.

I had a bit of trouble finding this trail. After reading another comment about not using Google maps, I used Waze. It brought me to the maintenance access road, rather than the hiking trail. There was only a very small pull off, so I did and walked up the access road to the tower, which only took a few minutes. This route is definitely not a hike.
The view from the tower was great, even on a gloomy day. I look forward to going back, and doing the actual hike.
The trail is easy to find if you follow Long Pond road (paved) past the Grafton winter access gate, to North Long Pond road (dirt)
this route will also bring you to other trails, as well as the ponds for fishing & kayaking.

This was a nice hike to a firetower that's not in the Adirondacks. It was a gentle hike that offered views of the Greens, Taconic Range, and the Helderberg Mountains.

Great views at the top of the tower! My children and I were almost run over by a group of 5 dirt bikers on the way down, even thought they were not allowed on the trail. Just be aware of your surroundings. Overall a great hike!
