Perfect day, cold and crisp, beautiful views!

Nice Trail with lots of views. Lots of ups and downs.

It was a very challenging trail, it took 4 hours to get up in 3 hours to get down. Snow shoes are a must with the snowy and icy conditions. Over all it was a great hike and I would definitely do it again.

Hiked Gilligan for the second time this year. Last time I did it in the rain and got no view. This time I did it on a chilly day with all the leaves on the ground. Really impressed with the view. Really fun little mountain!

Challenging but great.

Steep in spots but beautiful views from several different spots. My very athletic little 6 year old loved this hike.

This was an unplanned hike, due to the trail we were going to hike being closed for hunting. This hike did not disappoint. The trail was nicely marked, and was in fact quite easy. There are a few places to take in some views as well. It was a short hike, and perfect for an impromptu trip!

Would definitely not recommend as a first hike.

Interestingly, I used this trailhead by accident...I was actually aiming for the primary trailhead and the ridge trail. About 2/3 of the way up, I'm asking my wife and daughter "Where are the views that were supposed to be all along this route?" But, even so, we weren't disappointed. And yes, the last .7 mi is a killer. But well worth the views at the top!

Great hike with some amazing views!!!

wonderful hike. beautiful view!

A nice hike, beautiful views. VERY busy, and while descending were pushed by Canadians. While hiking with our child, we don't go as fast as others, and the Canadians have NO trail etiquette at all. The trail itself is lovely, and we had a good time. Would have LOVED to take more photos, but we were in some very thick foggy clouds. So dense, we more often than not had no views at all, but it was still incredible!

Amazing! Husband, our dog and I hiked with full gear from New Russia and spent the night at the campsite just east of Mary Louise Lake. Anyone hiking in to camp should know that the yellow sign about 400 feet prior to the Lake stating Privy will lead you to where the primitive campsite is. There are about four sites.

Best hike yet. Amazing views the whole way.

Started from the trailhead parking off hwy 9, went up to Blueberry Cobbles, snapped photos from various outlooks (great views!), then Mason mountain - again, great opportunities to see the path ahead and the peaks. Got to the summit and wandered around taking pictures. Last climb might be challenging for newbies but, generally, this is a fairly short and not so difficult hike with a plenty of spots to admire the views.

One of the most beautiful hikes in the Adirondacks.

was tough and long but the many summits and views are worth it! lots of trail markers so the path was easy to stay on!

This was a nice traverse that paid off in nice views along the ridge. The trail wasn't muddy at all and we ended up hiking Giant also. I'll definitely do this hike again.

Spectacular climb to the summit of Giant Mountain. Its a steep and long climb but breathtaking at the conclusion.

This trail goes nowhere. I went in both directions at the fork. To the left (south) it deadend, the trail just disappears. To the right (WNW) it continues toward Dix etc... but there is no spur to take you up the peaks. This only exists if you are going to bushwhack the entire way, which is not a trail.

Good trail. Pretty rocky terrain, but nothing too steep. Great views near and at the top.

I took the Roaring Brook Falls trail towards Giants Nubble so I could fit the fall into the hike more easily. The falls are definitely better viewed from the road but standing at the top was neat. I thought this hike was a little strenuous, but I think it is my favorite Adirondack view so far. Amazing.

Challenging but a lot of fun and entirely worth the effort! The views from the top of Giant are breathtaking.

A nice short hike where you're guaranteed to have plenty of beautiful views.

Just a great relaxed hike. The trail is marked well and the terrain is very manageable. This is ranked moderate. I haven't done any easy hikes but this was much easier than other moderates I have done. Don't get me wrong, I was sweating but it was extremely enjoyable. I think I'll be back to camp along the trail and take it to Lower Wolfjaw.

Started this hike with the intent of hitting Giant and RPR out and back. Once at RPR we meet a great guy and his daughter that offered to take us back to the chapel pond trail head if we chose to head back to New Russia. we jumped at the opportunity knowing from some prior research that this route offered some stunning views. It did not disappoint. marie Louise pond was just one of the highlights(see photo). Hitting some of the minor peaks in succession got to be a bit grueling on the knees at some points being that we already had the ascent up to giant and then that gnarly decent to RPR already under our belts. It was a long day of hiking and we were glad to reach New Russia once we got there.[ FitBit recorded 44,697 steps for the day.] Hope to do this again someday but not anytime soon.

Awesome!!!! Did this hike on 7/5/2017
Great for the kids. Next time gonna go down to roaring Brook Falls

Hiked up to the top of giant from the roaring brook trail head. took a group of us about 4 hours round trip with two having no hiking experience at all. beautiful summit and brook. would definitely recommend
