Visited for the first time in October 2018 and absolutely loved the views. Fair warning - it’s a pretty steep climb at the beginning on this trail, however, totally worth viewing the multicolored autumn trees. Absolutely breathtaking.

Boring terrain no variety straight. Up and straight down

Views were great. Steep uphill but 15 year old pup was able to make it through the whole time!

There were a few steep runs. Nice views. Trails were nicely maintained. We had a visit from the grouse near the summit, who tagged along for a little bit. Hard hike for the kids since we had just done Kipp, but we all enjoyed it. Nice new bench at the top.

Hiked the steep parts but ran the rest. They definitely make you work for the views at the top. It is pretty steep and a good workout. The views at the top were quite surprising and we loved every second.

My husband and I did this hike after dinner in hopes of a good sunset view - we were not disappointed! The trail was well marked and we made it to the top in about twenty minutes, spent ten or so at the top gazing at the view, and fifteen to get down. The two hour estimate on the sign board is a little long for anyone in decent shape. The views from the top are absolutely gorgeous!

Was doing the Cougar Hill trail to complete our Chester Challenge hikes. We didn't see the trail entrance immediately behind the sign-in box, so we added a little walk by going off to the right. After a short walk, we were back on track. A nice wooded walk and the breeze felt good to cool us down.

Spent over 50 summers on Loon Lake, but didn't climb on Kipp until this week. This is a short scamper up to the ledge above the cliffs that grace Kipp's southwestern face. A beautiful view of Loon Lake awaits those who hike up. Suitable for all ages, the hike is wooded and well-marked. Part of the Chester Challenge.

Having nothing better to do on a rainy day at the lake house we decided to go for a hike up Meade Mountain. As I climbed the hill, I couldn't tell if it was sweat or rain drops dripping from me, so I didn't care. The climbs certainly gave me a workout. At all of the lookout spots, all we saw were clouds due to the rain, which was a shame. The board said 2.5 hrs for the hike, we did in just past an hour. A nice hike.

Hiked this with my niece, her husband, and their two kids, aged 8 and 7 years old. The trail is short, but steadily steep to the summit of Meade Mountain. Maybe too steep for younger children and/or those not in decent physical shape. There are three viewpoints, each with approximately a 180-degree field of view. Meade affords views to the northwest to include Hadley, Crane, and Gore mountains. The main Beckman viewpoint looks towards Loon Lake, and the secondary Beckman viewpoint looks towards the northeast and features views of Schroon Lake and Pharaoh Mountain. As of this date, there is a resident grouse on the summit of Meade Mountain. S/he is not shy and will follow you as you walk around the summit area. This hike is part of the Chester Challenge: https://www.townofchesterny.org/chester-challenge.html

This was a wonderful hike and the trail was well labeled. It offered a beautiful view with and informational sign to identify mountain peaks.

Beautiful morning hike with the family and dog. Picturesque views of Loon Lake. This was my five year old daughters first hike. She said, “You can touch the sky from up here!”

Nice short trail with a decent view of Loon Lake and a wooden platform to sit and rest your pack and things. Good spot for a picnic.

An easy hike with only a quick view of Gore Mountain. We hiked the Cougar Hill trail that had a little steep section.

This was a nice quick hike to views of Gore Mountain and Loon Lake. The trail was a mixture of mud and snow and windy at the top. Overall I’ll do this hike again.

This was nice hike that had a steep section where you needed microspikes to get up the trail. There was a nice view of Gore from Meade Mountain summit. The trail was a mix of rotten snow, mud, and ice.

Arrived ready for a nice fall hike and the trail and parking lot were closed. Bummer! Went to Severance Mountain instead, 10-15 minutes away which was pretty equivalent in distance and difficulty.

Great quick trail fir the youngsters I have done this one twice. On the second trip we spotted a fairly big porcupine near the summit. If you are looking for something to do with the young kids, this is it. Only 2 miles round trip.

Great short hike, views of Loon Lake are lovely

Did it to complete Chester Challenge. Took twice as long because if the weird confusing trail systems and maps randomly tacked to the trees.

Great trail, well marked. The sign at the trailhead said it was a 2 hour hike, but it's not really that long. I did it in an hour and 15 minutes, and that was with spending almost a half hour at the summit
