My first trail after many many years. Easy road for everyone.

Smooth paved and no cars. Does it get any better ?
Highly recommend for all types of bikes and all level cyclists.

Good riding
Boardwalk now open to cyclists

Not maintained at all

nice path

Gave it an extra star because it was February and 55 degrees.
Just about 5 miles round trip from across from Maria Regina Church (park on either side of Jerusalem Ave) to Merrick Rd and back. Very twisty and turney , very narrow path with cat-briar bushes encroaching on path. Wouldn't walk/hike in shorts or short sleeves or you'll be bleeding the whole way...especially on the northern limits of the hike. Theres paths on the east side and the west side. I travelled south on the east, returned going north on the west. Areas of wet mud, bog, signs that adjacent neighborhoods drain into the paths so I wouldn't go in the rain. Im here in late Feb so I expect moist. Slippery leaves but not a problem, muddy areas have go-arounds. Many trees down across path, garbage all over, and many many root tripping hazards. Not well maintained but it is February so maybe there's a tune-up before real spring hits. Easy. Just about exactly 10,000 steps for the fitbit users.Massapequa Preserve would be a better choice IMHO.

It was a decent trail just for a 1-2 hour walk in the woods. The garbage was mainly by the LIRR underpass. Enjoyed the walk, thanks!

fairly flat except for the bridges. the wind can work against you.
on the weekend it's fairly busy and not a lot of bike courtesy going on. decent ride.

8.5 miles to TOBAY!

Monday, July 17, 2017

All paved so it's friendly for longboarders, skateboarders, and rollerbladers.

From the parking fields to the beach is a little more 4 miles and there are 3 bridges to cross over.

I never stopped moving but at least 5 ticks found me. Definitely spray the bug repellent before you go here.

A great path to run. Wish there were less cars passing by though.

Awful. Garbage everywhere. Looks like a dumping ground rather than preserve.

Decent Trail. While the scenery is nice there is garbage and graphetti in certain places. The coolest part is the bridge

Great bike path, even for beginners. The hardest part of this is the fact that is 4 miles each way and there are two big hills. However, for the hills you are encouraged to walk your bike up/down them.
This path can be more difficult depending on the wind.

Horrible! Not pretty at all! Tons of garbage and graffiti. Tiny walking path and you are right by the road for a while. Waste of a hike!

Ran the lower two segments of the trail system.. I reached the north end of the middle section and couldn't find the connection to the northern most trail, so turned around. Will try again.

The trails are a bit tight for running, you have to stay alert. I don't think the trails in the southern most section (near the Preserve's building) are marked, but the trail is obvious. Lots of roots and mud to contend with and a few sections of the raised decking that was installed had been vandalized.

It's a shame Sunrise Hwy divides the lower two trails as it is a rhythm buster..

Nice trail for rollerblading! Only negative is that you're along Wantagh Parkway the whole time so cars are constantly going by.

Great flat bike ride. A little windy...

Only did northern part of Takapausha. Will go back for remaining two sections. Will update. Path is well marked and easy to see. Seems to have been paved at somepoint. A good numer of trees had fallen over the path, but this just made it more interesting.
