Beginner hiker here:: more like 3 1/2 stars— strenuous and intense climb to the top with a small outlook, but amazing view!

LOTS OF snow and ice. Rocky and very muddy path.

Took about 5 hours to complete the loop. My SO and I went backwards? (Stayed left and went up Devil’s path and then down Jimmy Dolan Notch) so it felt like we climbed most of the way.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND hiking boots/shoes with spikes due to the snow and ice. Bring walking sticks! My boyfriend and I used a thick branch which helped us from not falling too much.

I would say it was pretty strenuous hike. We did it in 3hrs 7minutes... I'd be weary of the coyotes. One or two were following us from a distance on the way down. Enjoyed the view at the top.

Pretty awesome hike, we hit a quite snowy day above 2 feet of snow. Slippery going up and down the snow snowy slopes. I would have used my crampons or trekking poles to facilitate the hike. Great views though once you reach the top. Parking lot gets full quite fast !

Amazing day! Trail is not broken above 3500’. Microspikes and poles are a must! Snowshoes would be a big help as well. Enjoy every step!

Just went up and back on this trail. Snowshoes are definitely required as there is a lot of snow. Coming down is easy since the trail is essentially a toboggan run with very little sticks and branches and stones to get in your way. No view from the top unless you climb the tower but there are handrails on both sides and so we went all the way to the top. Note that the viewing room at the top of the tower and the cabin at the base of it will likely be locked

Attempted 3/17/18. Trails are not fully broke so snowshoes are necessary right now. I’m >200lb so I break through a little easier but still pretty soft. I made it about 1/2 mike in and was just post-holing. Great trail for the distance I did it but stow is almost 20” deep and hasn’t been packed enough to travel without flotation.

A relentless steep climb up the mountain but well worth it!

I went up a day after a storm. Was pretty easy for the first 2 miles, but after that, snow got way too deep. Should have brought along a pair of snow shoes. One of the better hikes close to NYC.

Pretty tough and steep at times, came here with my boyfriend and our husky and made it to 3500 ft elevation before we decided to turn back because the ice made it super slippery and dangerous. Will be back in the warmer weather!

I only did a quick hike to the falls and a little beyond. The trail was icy and the falls were partly frozen.

Steep climb, but the view was definitely worth it. It was a good workout with a couple rocky portions that probably account for it's difficult rating. Overall, a great time, good view and not too difficult.

Just missed the peak colors on my 10/20 hike, but got my first of 35 down. Loved the forest on top of Panther

Started great, takes you straight up. Very icy! Definitely need crampons and an ice axe. My husband and I were using our micro spikes. Got close to the summit but unfortunately didn’t get to reach it. Decided to turn back as we felt it would’ve been unsafe. Lots of slipping and sliding lol BUT we will be back

Pretty tough incline to start if you have a lot of gear. The hotel ruins are beautiful and fun to explore. Hike down to echo lake for a night or two of camping. Lots of available campsites along a trail around the lake. Views from the fire tower are great as well.

Finished! 35er!

This is a straightforward, mostly uphill hike with few turns. It’s pretty much a straight shot from the trailhead to the top of table mountain. Not too difficult and some nice viewpoints along the way.

Beautiful in autumn

Really fun with amazing views.

This was a great trail however the map layout is a bit misleading. If you Map the walk to Boulder Rock it adds a bit of mileage and i don't think it was "Moderate" . However the views were gorgeous. There are some ledges to be really careful on if you go for some good views.

Good views from Giant ledge. The hike is easy and is a good hike for beginners.

Great hike, challenging ascent but fantastic views from the fire tower.

Went up in mid November and it was already snowy and icy at the top. Beautiful.

Basic non-scenic Jeep trail up and back but the abandoned hotel, fire-tower and views at the summit are worth the hike.

Great view!

Steady incline to the tower, but once you reach the top you get the amazing 360 views. The descent towards devils path is rewarded being surrounded by pine forest. The second day, diamond notch falls was nice with the sun rise hitting coming through the trees hitting the water.

Hiked this mountainous montage a few weeks back. Totally worth the challenge. Spent a night between sugarloaf and plateau and the second night on buttermilk falls. Plateau mountain was by far the most challenging and offered two excellent viewpoints. Westkill summit best view for sure. Getting back to the car after 25 miles of hiking was a great sight as we reached the end of our journey.

holy crap. this was an amazing epic hike that I couldn't finish after coming off plateau to route 214. I met up with three women this spring that I had never met before and they kept me going. super tough trails. one minute you're going straight up and another trying to figure out how the hell to get down. I still have yet to complete the second part. lots of ledges to take in views from. loved how the forest and terrain changed mile to mile.

Did the western half from tombstone campground to the northern trailhead. 11.5 miles. 3700 elevation gain. Raining. It was tough but the elevation was quite low in comparison to posted elevations. 4 hours.

awesome hike, rocky and steep on the way up but boy is the pay off worth it when you get to the ledge. Jurassic views!!

Gorgeous views, amazing outlook. Highly trafficked, but with good reason, I've been many times.
