Great view at the end

Great trail, can't believe it isn't more popular in the hiking/backpacking community. Was out on the trail for 4 days last August from Long Lake up to Lake Placid. Great to have the lean-to's available, especially during some chilly nights!

Great hike! Did it in the middle of February and it was quite icy so be careful! Other than that it was beautiful until it started raining halfway through!!

Actually did this trail by starting at Owens Pond and coming down Copperas, which totaled about 4 miles. Owens is more scenic. Also, I certainly you wouldn’t want to have started the walk climbing up from the copperas trailhead. Nice little leanto at the pond though.

Fun easy hike to the pond. Lots of snow down but it was packed well. We got by fine with microspikes. You could probably do it with just boots because there is very little grade. Nice and tranquil ending. Probably took a total of 1.5 hours out and back.

Sunny and cold winter day. Challenging in the snow but the view of the lake was worth it!

Canoed the length of Little Tupper Lake. Big lake with no motor boats. Several camping options on small islands in the lake. Traveling up Rock Pond's outflow, had to cross over two beaver dams.

A pleasant hike with one nice view of Cranberry Lake. The listed mileage is for an out and back, although most people do the loop by walking through the campsite to the other trailhead. If you do the loop through the campsite the mileage is 3.4 miles. It is an easy hike from the first trailhead to the top; if you go from the trailhead near campsite 132 in the opposite direction it's steeper going up.

The red trail starting on Floodwood Road just past Middle Pond is in terrific shape but the return blue trail that you go on by the canoe carry between Fish Creek and Follensby Clear Pond is in pretty bad shape, almost bushwacking and going through multiple bogs.
One spot where the blue trail crosses a stream between Little Polliwog Pond and Horseshoe Pond there was a bridge, now there are just pieces of a bridge.
Also it is 7.5 miles not 6

Nice walk with good views of the lake if the camp sites are not being used. Not strenuous at all.

This trail is part of the Forked Lake State Campground, and is used by people to access their sites, and is not technically a public trail. You will be charged a day use fee for parking and hiking it.

The pond was amazing, the hike was very easy and flat, even though the day that we went was rainy we still loved it! There was no beach that we saw but there was a great rock to have a picnic on!

trail running

Not ideal at all for running since there are a ton of rocks and roots. The trail needs some maintenance since some areas branches cover the path. The path is narrow but copperas pond is a beautiful view. Bug spray is a must!

This was mostly a kayaking trip. You can go to Tickner's and rent a canoe or kayak for the day. You pay for it and they give you paddles and life jackets. The kayaks are already at nick's lake. Great place to paddle. No motorized boats. Good camping, picnic and beach area. 6 mile trail around lake. We only did about 2 miles of the hike but paddled around the entire lake. About a 5 to 6 mile trip. Great place for everyone.

Beautiful trail, a TONNNN of flies. Might just have been the season.

This was a little more strenuous than we expected for a trail labeled easy but it was perfect for the whole family. We found a spot to jump into the lake and cool down. Remember your bug spray.

We did a quick hike to Bear Mountain Overlook. We started in Cranberry Lake Campground - Loop IV. Short mile hike up, steep in some areas. View from Overlook is great. Would try longer route next time.

Lovely spot very close to town, available by your favorite watercraft. Mostly kayaks and canoes on this lake though some fishermen and pontoon boats. We did some of the southern portion as a half-day paddle and it was beautiful. The NY State boat launch gives very easy (and free) access with bathroom facilities. We saw bald eagles and loons. There are lots of campsites (permit required, need to reserve in February for July and August) and picnic sites on the lake that are beautiful.

We hiked this trail with our three German short haired pointers. It was an easy dog friendly hike that allowed us and them to swim in the pond. The trail was very quiet and in fact we were the only ones on it. The view of the mountains surrounding the pond is breathtaking and peaceful. The only drawback is that there is no easy access to the pond at the end of the trail, but there is a rocky area that allows access to the water. Overall it's a hike that we'll repeat again with the dogs.

Not a great view. Keep on hiking through to big moose road. Stay overnight at one of the shelters or ponds.

The only difficulty was that the entrance from the road is not marked. we drove by a few times before figuring out what must be the entrance.
