Great hike! Definitely does not seem long as stated. It has amazing views of the lake.

Good trail for kids and dogs. reasonably wide and some nice Sandy beaches for play. some spots appear to get wet if there has been rain. they have some things out to step on, but still may get a little muddy.

Started at Bisby entrance. Mostly level trail through woods. Once at the southern end of lake there are more challenges. At western side close to the campers ended up on road for a stretch. Nice hike.

Loved this trail! It has a nice grade most of the way up, levels off for a bit and then gets really steep before the top. It was a great challenge! Awesome views at the top, and tons of dragonfly’s!

We started this trail from the entrance near campsite 31 & all agree we would rate this as a moderate, not easy, hike. There was a fairly steep incline with decent elevation the first half of the hike going in this direction. We’re all experienced hikers & were all quite winded the the time we made it to the lookout. I definitely recommend novice hikers start from the trailhead, but if you want a great workout, start on the opposite end.

Rating from a 7 year old- It has tons of nice sounds.

Rating from a 5 year old- It was fun.

From the parents- Easy hike for the kids with a nice lookout over Cranberry Lake.

Me and my 6 year old daughter did the trail on mtn bikes. For the most part she was able to ride all of it except the big hill. We had fun. Well marked. More of a hiking than biking trail though.

Before you reach the trail-head, you should get some amazing views of Debar Mountain from the road side, especially if you are traveling North from the Tupper Lake / Saranac Lake regions. The trail makes a great adventure for the entire family. We hiked this trail in early summer when the Wild Flowers were blooming and the Song birds were singing. Lots to see on the way up the trail, including the Debar Mt Debar. When you get to the summit, you are rewarded with amazing views of Meacham Lake & Clear Pond.

pretty easy steep on way out if you follow the loop. can be done with kids excellent view if you go a bit past the summit.

Great hike, about a half hour. Water was super clear. Nice and refreshing.

Did this hike yesterday...We originally were going to start at the Bisby trailhead, but just as we arrived some hikers had already turned back because they said there was a mud hole so large/deep that they couldnt get around or through it. So we drove into the Nick's Lake site about 3/4 miles up the road and paid for the parking ($10). The lake itself is beautiful, but the hike really wasn't what we expected. We started to the left, keeping the lake on our right the whole time, and were the only ones to sign the register for the day at that time. The first 4 miles or so we're SWARMING with mosquitos. Even hikers strength deet didn't work. This was really unfortunate because it forced us to kind of power through the hike to outpace them, leaving no time to stop, rest, or really enjoy our surroundings. So we thought of this as more of a workout than anything else. We paced pretty fast and finished the whole hike in just about 2 hours. The terrain was easy enough to navigate and the trail was well marked. A few wet/muddy spots and three or four very short but somewhat steep inclines. The last mile or so of the hike was the only part that we could actually enjoy, by then the wind picked up off the lake and the trail winds through an area covered in pine needles with no muddy/standing water so the mosquito swarms were finally gone. I would reccomend that if anyone does this hike during bug season...start to the right (keeping the lake on your left) that way if the bugs get too bad you have a shorter/easy out. This was far from our favorite hiking experience unfortunately.

Great hike! Did it in the middle of February and it was quite icy so be careful! Other than that it was beautiful until it started raining halfway through!!

Went 2/24/18. Trail is wide; groomed for snow mobiles. Not icy.

A really relaxing hike around a beautiful lake! Easy navigate and perfect for anyone seeking beautiful views of the Adirondacks!

A pleasant hike with one nice view of Cranberry Lake. The listed mileage is for an out and back, although most people do the loop by walking through the campsite to the other trailhead. If you do the loop through the campsite the mileage is 3.4 miles. It is an easy hike from the first trailhead to the top; if you go from the trailhead near campsite 132 in the opposite direction it's steeper going up.

This was mostly a kayaking trip. You can go to Tickner's and rent a canoe or kayak for the day. You pay for it and they give you paddles and life jackets. The kayaks are already at nick's lake. Great place to paddle. No motorized boats. Good camping, picnic and beach area. 6 mile trail around lake. We only did about 2 miles of the hike but paddled around the entire lake. About a 5 to 6 mile trip. Great place for everyone.

Great hike. Easy for kids. Took about 30 minutes each way. Swim was nice. Not as much beach as in past years due to rain, but shallow and sandy bottom.

Great little hike for the afternoon. Easy enough for my little dog too. Had a beautiful view of the lake and was great to swim in!

We did a quick hike to Bear Mountain Overlook. We started in Cranberry Lake Campground - Loop IV. Short mile hike up, steep in some areas. View from Overlook is great. Would try longer route next time.

Not a great view. Keep on hiking through to big moose road. Stay overnight at one of the shelters or ponds.

April 15 , great day for a hike up to Derbar. Still a lot of snow and ice which is to be expected during this time of the year. Temperature was around -4c and by midday it was +13c. Quite challenging the last mile due to all the ice.

Classic Adirondack moderate flat hike that is sure to please.

A nice hike to do if you're staying at Meacham Lake Campground. I did this in the summer and saw lots of bear signs. From the trailhead you follow an old road and then after about a mile the trail branches to the left. The grade remains gentle until you come to a lean-to.After that, for the last half mile or so, its a steep ascent to the summit. There are good views north towards Quebec but trees just below the summit rock obstruct the view right below.

Nice hike! Look for campsite 37, this is where the dirt road to the trailhead/ login is.
It about a half mile from campsite 37 to the parking lot.
From the log in, it is about a 3 mile hike up a gradual ascent to the lean too. Lovely walk through a mixed hardwood forest!
From the lean too on, it gets a bit tough. It's a steep climb for about 8/10 of a mile, or so.
On the day we hiked the ground was wet, and with the exposed tree roots, bare rocks, and wet leaves, it made for a challenging hike to the summit.
We were hiking with our dog, Stella. During this last scramble we kept her leashed both up and down this section of trail. Both too help her find the right path up, and later down what was a somewhat treacherous climb.
Slow but sure here was the key!
Upon reaching the summit there is a nice rock ledge to rest up and have lunch.
Unfortunately we had a rolling fog on top that limited our view. It did lift a bit, and I am sure it's a great view on a clear day.
Our descent actually took a bit longer than the ascent. 1 . 50 mins up, 2 hours and five mins down.
All in all this is a great mountain to hike. We saw a total of 4 groups of 12 people, and 3 dogs.
Well worth the time!!
