We had so much fun looking for the petroglyphs! You don't have to look too hard. It's a mile up a hill. The trail is rocky, but we were going slow anyway looking at them. The trailhead offers generous parking. Flush toilets. There's a $5 charge to be paid at the office. National Park passes accepted.

pretty neat, nothing strenuous just cool

Great casual hike. Thousands of petroglyphs and a couple excavated huts to see. Only $5 for day parking. Lots of wildlife - lizards, snakes, and. even spotted a roadrunner!

Very easy trail. Easy to walk and enjoy the hundreds of petroglyphs. Nice views of the Sacramento mountains.

Magical place - love love love! I could get lost in the rocks here for hours.

Easy hike. My toddler loved climbing around all the rocks and watching the lizards scamper about. We got to see a snake, too. That was pretty neat for my little. We could have spent all afternoon there. We will definitely be back.

Thunder and lightning when I was there but still enjoyed the easy walk

Fun trail, fairly easy. Hundreds of petroglyphs. Beautiful view of snow covered mountains in early March. Make sure you close the gate....

Fun trail! Not stroller friendly at all!

Fun little hike that winds among the rocks above the campground and visitor center. There is also a trail across the road leading to some ancient remains of Indian pit dwellings.

Trail was easy but the petroglyphs were amazing. While they were not intricately carved, they were fascinating nevertheless. Vistas of the Tularosa Basin and surrounding mountains were fantastic. Well worth the visit!

Short easy trail with lots of petroglyphs. Not much shade but it's in the desert. I liked this better than Petroglyph National Monument except that dogs aren't allowed on the trail.

Nice trail with lots of petroglyphs. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, but it's a nice stop on the way to/from white sands if your coming from Albuquerque since it's right off the main road. I like petroglyphs national monument in ABQ a little more than this site, but it's still cool.

Well maintained, clean trail. Easy to moderate ascent with LOTS to look at! Give yourself plenty of time to take it in, 2-3 hours. Good for kids, but will have to leave your pups at the main parking area. Staff was friendly and informative.

This was a great experience. The terrain was very rocky with a slight incline and breathtaking views. The petroglyph's were scattered about and plentiful. Hiking boots are a must and dont forget the water. There is no cover so the hot New Mexico sun will take its toll.

Get off the trail, do some exploring and you will be pleasantly surprised, especially that small hill to the west.

neat little trail with views all around. Kids should love looking for all the petroglyphs. I would do this trail before it gets hot since there is almost no shade.
