Once you find the trail head it’s super easy to follow. This trail was a little less lined by wire and stakes. There is quite a bit however some places it stops and allows for close up looks at the petroglyphs. Very amazing to see these and struck me full of wonder. Hot and dry with no shade. Pack water. Prepare for sandy shoes as well.

Very sandy, be prepared to empty your shoes! Won’t see your first petroglyph until .4 from the trail head. Very easy to follow as it’s roped off with stakes and wire. Forgot to turn off recording as I drove up to the next spot.

Great trail to start out with if you are not used to the elevation. Amazing view of the city and Sandias!

Nice hike along sandy paths. Good views of petroglyphs - especially if you have binoculars. No shade so be prepared with water.

Some cool petroglyphs that are worthwhile seeing, but otherwise not too much to write home about. Bring binoculars since a lot are a good bit off in the distance.

Super easy, I went early in the morning before it got too hot and saw a lot of magical hummingbirds.

Well maintained trail that gives great views of Albuquerque & Sandia to East & the vast desert plain to Mount Taylor on the West. Desert Eagle airport is vey close and you can watch small aircraft take-off & land. Only three shade areas and no water, but does have clean restrooms at the trailhead. Gates open @ 9am & close @ 5pm.

This is the easiest petroglyph trail that I’ve found. Well marked and fairly level sandy paths the whole trail. There are a lot of nice petroglyphs to see, and they are spread out over the whole trail, There isn’t any shade, but the hike is not strenuous in the least. I came unexpectedly and unprepared after work in my leather ballet flats and had no problems finishing the trail (I did have water, which I recommend bringing). Saw a lot of wildlife: lizards, hares, and even hummingbirds.

Great trail. Went around 7am on a Tuesday and only 3 cars were at the trail head. Weather was nice but I’m sure can get extremely hot midday. Would be a great running trail.

Easy and fun hike - especially in the morning... cool breeze and very few people! I can't imagine doing this trail in the summer time - you would probably get heat stroke very quickly.

Great trail for a 5k trail run but the 89 degrees, 13% humidity, and 33MPH wind killed me!!

Very sandy , beach like in places trail. Only a small area near any Petroglyphs if you are going for that reason. If so, go to one of the other trails nearby. This is mid May, we were before noon and it was extremely hot. No shade. Be sure to have water and a hat I’d recommend. Certainly not a good place for summer. I enjoyed the different topography from the foothills and mountains, and it was fine for a nice walk.

Rocky with a great hill to run up and down. Be careful not to twist an ankle on the rocks. Great views at the top.
