It was a nice day out in the middle of no where. i think if it was later in the season there would be more green which would make it even a better hike.

Easy to moderate, depending on the weather. Impossible to miss. Not very frequented. Took me (woman, 210lbs) 2:45 hours including two ten minutes breaks.

Me and my little one who is 4 years old did this trail today and it is perfect. Easy trail with easy clear signs to follow. Definitely going to do this one a few more times.

Our ‘go to’ trail. Very nice shaded trail walk for out dogs and it’s a nice loop.

The trail is a good stretch of the legs. Not too much for wildlife but did see a few deer, osprey and a lizard. The trail is lined with piles of down timber, hundreds if not thousands of piles.

Went there on 4/28 loved it some hiking with the bike then the fun starts. You can get some speed good paths you really can’t go off course. It’s more fun than work will do again.

Not sure if I’d rate this easy. More moderate but great hike.

Great trails. Friendly service. Had a great time

Tough challenge on my MTB....but good fun

Good easy to moderate hike, little long, kinda the same ol same ol, enjoyed it

The loop is good. Many alternate trails like Turkey Canyon and Argentina Canyon. NOTE: the road to the trailhead was blocked by an Army Corp of Engineers gate. You can either alter the route slightly by going to Three Rivers Campground or start the hike at the Bonito trailhead west of Bonito Lake.
Beautiful views. Water in the creeks were flowing enough to filter water.

Tough hike once I reached 3.5 miles.. stopped at 4 miles . The hike back to truck was slightly rough suggest good hiking shoes and thick socks.

Feel great & stronger.

If your not in shape your gonna be hurting

Did this trail on 04/07/2018. The weather was perfect. Only a little chilly at night. There is a small stream at the beginning of the trail but the rest of the trail was dry. Beautiful and well kept trail! Several flat spots for camping along the way. Going back this summer for sure!

Great trail. Takes a lot of agility with all the rocks. A lot of steady uphills that will work you pretty good. Beware it’s over 4.7 miles. I think I ended around 6 miles total.

This was a great hike, views and terrain, awesome! The weather was mild being February (a plus). Being a 42 yr old Midwesterner with no significant local elevation changes this hike was a challenge but doable, 5.5 hrs out/back. You need to be in reasonable physical condition to complete it though. Also, must take plenty of water and some snacks. Well worth the planning!

First time on this trail. Great! The views of Sierra Blanca are very nice. A couple of steep climbs, but nothing too difficult. A very well maintained trail! Birds!

It’s a wide trail looks as if atv’s use it often. We always take a small and medium sized dogs so it was a nice trail to take them on. We didn’t see a soul out there the entire trail. It’s all up hill going in and downhill all the way out. Very nice scenery.

Easy to follow for the most part. Also able to knock it out in less than 2 hrs. I recommend early morning or afternoon

Amazing views and wildlife. Like others have said, moderate trail til around the 2.5 mile mark, then becomes much harder. The transition will be quite obvious, though.

Nice hike. Elevation climb is gradual and easy to navigate. Opens up to other trails for those who want to keep going. Great forested area!

Though the trail is still very muddy in many areas (I suggest taking a bag to put your hiking shoes in after and a second pair of shoes to put on before heading out), we were able to get through the whole trail and enjoyed the great views and solitude. Not many others were on the trail at the same time.

Great trail, made it 2.5 miles in before my hiking partner and was gassed and needed to turn back. The views are amazing and the trail is challenging, definitely bring lots of water.

Love this trail right out of the rainbow lake camp ground fun trail after a morning breakfast!!!

Beautiful hike, one of the best I've done so far in New Mexico. Canyon is stunning, views breathtaking. Except for the first mile I didn't meet anyone at the trail (a sunday in june). Trail is easy to follow, but between milemarker 3 and 4 it can be tough, in some places you'll have to watch your step. Last mile and a half until dirt road is relatively level.

This was SUCH an amazing hike! It is exceptionally difficult- we made it 2.5 in, through the second set of switchbacks! Absolutely GORGEOUS.

Bring LOADS of water, maybe some snacks.

We will be going back!

By the way, bring 5 dollars cash, and be prepared for an all-day experience!

Only went in 3.7 miles. The steepest portion of the trail is the first 1.5 miles. It’s rather rocky as compared to the PNW. There were patches of snow but easily done in trail runners. Some slick mud in spots. Saw a beautiful bull elk at about 2.5 to 3 miles in. The trail stays in the trees the whole time and I’m guessing this would be a great hike in the warmer months.

This is one of my favorite trails. It’s got great views, solitude and flora and fauna. Easy to walk and pretty quick.

Lovely trail and well kept. I loved the view of the farmland and cows. Flowers were everywhere when we hiked this last fall.
