We hiked this trail in June with temps in low 80s. It is indeed a mostly moderate trail but there are some very steep climbs and some of the terrain going down is steep and very rocky and slippery that are a bit challenging. Take a hiking stick for stability. We would not recommend taking your dog without some little dog booties due to the parts of rocky terrain. most of the hike is shaded and beautiful. We saw an elk and wild turkey. when you reach the top of the mountain, make sure you take the correct turn to go back. glad we had this app to help us ensure we were on the correct trail as we did make a wrong turn and had to double back. overall worth the hike.

Nice trail easy to follow only down side was that several people did not clean up their dogs poop which was right I the middle of the trail.

Trail is in good condition and well marked. There are lots of views down into side canyons and several old lumber roads that make nice side treks. Just don't get lost! We saw lots of Elk and Mule Deer.
We also hiked down Dark Canyon itself, which runs west to east, lying north of the marked trail loop. It is marked on the All Trails map as Dark Canyon Road, which in reality does not exist and only parts of it remain to be seen. The canyon is very pretty with may extremely large trees. There was an unusual amount of animal skeletons to see, along with a stock tank and spring at about 2.5 miles from the top of the canyon.
Benson Ridge Road, which leads to the Dark Canyon trail head is rough in places, but can be driven by all but the lowest suspension of cars, as long as it is driven slowly.

Super Easy (:

Great trail, the elevation at almost 9000’ did slow us down a bit. But we did well being 60 and 64 years young!

A good trail with a few camping options along the way if you're a backpacker looking for some backcountry camping. We saw several other hikers and everyone was friendly and shared the trail well.

Easy to moderate, depending on the weather. Impossible to miss. Not very frequented. Took me (woman, 210lbs) 2:45 hours including two ten minutes breaks.

Me and my little one who is 4 years old did this trail today and it is perfect. Easy trail with easy clear signs to follow. Definitely going to do this one a few more times.

Our ‘go to’ trail. Very nice shaded trail walk for out dogs and it’s a nice loop.

The trail is a good stretch of the legs. Not too much for wildlife but did see a few deer, osprey and a lizard. The trail is lined with piles of down timber, hundreds if not thousands of piles.

Went there on 4/28 loved it some hiking with the bike then the fun starts. You can get some speed good paths you really can’t go off course. It’s more fun than work will do again.

Not sure if I’d rate this easy. More moderate but great hike.

Good easy to moderate hike, little long, kinda the same ol same ol, enjoyed it

First time on this trail. Great! The views of Sierra Blanca are very nice. A couple of steep climbs, but nothing too difficult. A very well maintained trail! Birds!

It’s a wide trail looks as if atv’s use it often. We always take a small and medium sized dogs so it was a nice trail to take them on. We didn’t see a soul out there the entire trail. It’s all up hill going in and downhill all the way out. Very nice scenery.

Nice hike. Elevation climb is gradual and easy to navigate. Opens up to other trails for those who want to keep going. Great forested area!

needs better markings.

Though the trail is still very muddy in many areas (I suggest taking a bag to put your hiking shoes in after and a second pair of shoes to put on before heading out), we were able to get through the whole trail and enjoyed the great views and solitude. Not many others were on the trail at the same time.

This is one of my favorite trails. It’s got great views, solitude and flora and fauna. Easy to walk and pretty quick.

Did this loop (T92->T93) with my wife and sister-in-law, all of us avid hikers, on a beautiful winter day, highs in the 60s. Must say, not our favorite. Heading up the "easy" T92 is fine, although you're hiking up the canyon, basically spending time in or crossing the wash, replete with rocks and stones. But that was trivial compared with the "difficult" crossover and descent down T93! Very rocky and a bit hard to follow in places (good news: all seem to get you back except the branch at the top you need to pay attention to). For sure, hiking poles help. Vistas are great albeit partially blocked by trees. Good for one time we all agreed.

Just tried to hike this today. The trail was covered in snow and was VERY muddy. We tried to push on but the mud was so slippery that we were unable to continue. I’m sure it’s a great trail after the trail has dried out.

We got a little lost towards the end where the trails converge, but just went back the way we came. Did this trail with a 7-year-old and 14-year-old who really enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this hike. Beautiful scenery and there was some snow on the backside on the mountain when we went last weekend.

We started at T93 and hiked the loop to T92 back to our car. Spectacular views, and signs of wildlife everywhere. Well marked, aside from a few wooden trail signs knocked over, but just follow T92 and you'll stay on track. Time well spent, phenomenal hike.

Less of a hike, more of a stroll. Should be rated easy. Good forest views

For a hike with kids, this was awesome. Beautiful views. Trail was easy enough for the kids but not so easy that it was boring.
