Loved this variety of landscape and well marked trail. The bike tracks today made me smile as we followed the amazingly diverse terrain!

A 3yo, an out of shape 64yo wearing oxygen, and 3 young adults with a dog made parts of this hike without too much problem . Rocky in places, steep in places for me, but I had good hiking shoes and poles. We saw hikers and bikers and quite a few dogs, some of which were loose. Decent views all the way to Cabezon and south to Ladron Peak. Perfect weather for this anti-black Friday activity.

Wasn’t really impressed. Lots of winding trails to choose from. Very open. Pretty views but wouldn’t do again.

This is a great trail. It is well groomed and well marked. Do not wear your sneakers on this trail, you need hiking boots because it is Rocky. Keep in mind that the full loop comes back on Chalk Dust trail.

See my report. I had a great time, especially coming down the Chalk Dust Trail.

Easy trail with beautiful views. Dog and kid friendly.

great short hike with cool views of the hills. good for beginners

Very urban -- huge houses visible/nearby and lots of traffic noise on the entire trail, with the exception of two short stretches in canyons. Mostly flat with several very rocky, steep climbs.

2.8 miles if you miss the out & back at the far end of the loop.

The weather was perfect for this hike and there were some loose rocks, but make sure to check out the trail map next to the parking lot before you start this trail! I ended up going left at the first fork in the road and got onto a different trail without realizing it, but it’s still an absolutely gorgeous area. It was perfect for a nice fall day, and I didn’t see anyone else while hiking. My pup loved it, too! I’ll be back to hike the actual trail soon.

Very enjoyable hike.

I checked out some of the trails encompassed by the 10k road which is a horseshoe with singletrack trails inside the loop. I found out that there are even more trails on the east side of the horseshoe. There is a smaller parking area about 1/4 mile east of the main parking lots with additional trails to the east. I'll be back!

Easy.

Beautiful trail. It wasn't crowded at all for a Saturday. There were four mountain bikes and three other hikers and all were friendly and polite. Interesting geology and numerous wildflowers in bloom. Amazing views! We will hike this trail again.

Awesome views!!!

Good hike, really exposed, nice views higher up.

Good trail to walk

Agree with Brianna about difficulty in determining whether I am reviewing the correct trail as there is a network of trails in this area, but...

Trial is easy access from main road to Placitas. Winds through mid size piñon/juniper with elevation gain. Relatively easy hike and perfect for a family walk at the end of the day. Would be tough mid- day on hot days. Otherwise a wonderful walk.

nice hike with great view from the top of the aspens

I started at the North Trailhead, so hopefully I'm putting this review in the correct place. Really pleasant, easy hike. Great for kids/fur family members.

Very beautiful. We went very early in the morning and heard coyotes so if you bring your dog please keep a leash on him. The abandoned strip mine was not seen this time, maybe we didn't know where to look or maybe we were taken with the other scenery. I will say there are a few sketchy areas with very lose rocks.

Done this trail and various off shoots many times. Changing scenery is its prominent feature. It can get hot so hiking earlier in the day the better.

Wow... Was a great hike...
Ups and downs.. The top was beautiful.
If you have knee problems You will have alittle bit of a rough time heading back to your car.. I do and it took me a little extra time.. Besides that... Great hike.

For a beginner that considers herself out of shape, I'd say this is more on the moderate side. A little rocky in the beginning and a lot of up and down hills. Some parts of the trail are a bit narrow. Not a lot of shade, but I was expecting that. Certain parts of the trail were closed too. Great views and a great workout though!

A nice long hike (loop) by adding part of the Osha Loop and all of Penasco Blanco which connects with the North Crest Trail until it intersects with the 10K trail again and then back to the trailhead parking lot off NM 536 which is paved and goes to the top of the Sandia's at ends at the Crest House.

Trail was great and beautiful! Gets pretty rocky underfoot though, pretty sore by the end. The color changes and the views were 100% worth it!

Trail was way too muddy this time of the year. Pretty views but hard to walk.
