WalkingGreat!

My go to place to get my daily power walk. Beautiful reservoir, perfect for all ages. Lots of shades and benches around the reservoir. Restrooms available.

WalkingGreat!

Great place with a beautiful view!

Be away that the large water fall is not on the main path!!! It’s a little overlook that is easily overlooked (pun intended). Other than that it’s a very flat easy and kind of boring hiking with a cute fairy path at the start or finish depending which way you go

I was wondering what all the kids and Karen’s were doing in a hiking trail till I figured out I crossed into the fairy Forrest. That part is pack with loud kids and their teachers/ soccer moms. I’ll have to come back to see the other side.hopefully it’s not that busy

Yellow trail is uphill from the jump, mostly rocky, overall with some flat walkways. Went about 2.20 miles and back, for a total of 4.43 miles.

It’s not an easy hike! And it’s longer than 5.8miles!

Not difficult but VERY rocky. Other reviews say it’s flat and paved in some areas but that is incorrect. There are some gravel paths but the majority of this trails have roots and large rocks. I would highly recommending hiking boots but good sneakers at a minimum.

I would not say this hike is easy or for beginners. The trails do not have the best signage and some parts of the trail is definitely overgrown/unmanaged. It is super rocky - hips are definitely feeling it now, but this is what made it fun and challenging! The waterfall is nice and gets super crowded. Absolutely recommend using this apps directions to get you to the right parking lot for the hike...otherwise you may add an extra 2.5 miles :)

Hemlock fall location wasn’t clear , make sure to go a little up the stairs and turn left

Perfect afternoon walk lots of different vegetation. The River was low because it’s been hot recently. Lots of people/kids/dogs in the fairy trail section but it lessens up as you go along. Definitely needs maintenance. Some downed trees along the way, made it hard for my dog. Also not very well marked most of the way, lots of people to ask for directions though if your phone/GPS dies lol

If you don’t follow the map it is very easy to get lost. But awesome trail!

You can finish the trail fast by cheating using the bike road , most walking trails are just parallel to the bike road . The rahway/river (white ) trail was muddy after the rain last night and needs some grass cutting , lots of poison ivy so better wear pants and long sleeves . The lenape ( yellow ) trail is well maintained, only some loose rocks going down to the parking lot . This was really our first funny trail because we can hear people so relax walking on the bike road when we were walking around the loop . No wonder some hikers finished it so fast !!!! The waterfall not too much water but it’s nice , look like a park with chairs around . You will see people going down from the parking lot lol , and we were so sweaty. A plus before you start using the Rahway trail are the fairy villages for kids . (Late post, trail was Sep.4,2020)
