We did a big loop with the Sourland Mountain Trail and some trails in the Sourland Ecosystem preserve. They were all serene and green, but the ecosystem trails are a bit overgrown.

Sourland Mountain is a great place for beginners. The trails are mostly well kept, if a bit rocky at times (speaking of which, definitely go see the boulders at some point), and not terribly strenuous.. It’s often busy, so if you’re looking for privacy and seclusion, the preserve is not for you.

Really fun trail. Quite rocky and technical in sections. Good uphill on the front end to warm you up. When it starts to get rocky, keep an eye out for the trail, easy to veer off trail. Just don’t look up long enough to roll your ankle (4 times). I’ll definitely be back.

I had a great time, trail was challenging at times but beautiful scenery none the less. Very peaceful with many things to see.

nice trail! enjoyed the loop and the scenery. look forward to coming back. a few more trail markers in some spots would be a nice addition

Great walk and very scenic

I love how rocky it is. not bad enough I cant walk both dogs at the same time though. we go all the time. always fun!

Rocky, but very scenic and definitely looking forward to going again!

This hike led to a nice view at the highest point of the pipeline we got to. It was steep for small portions, and there are a lot of options to make the hike longer or shorter if you want. Although it was a busier day, we didn’t feel crowded by the other people just due to the nature of the woods. This is a very pretty area.

The first part up is a steep climb to some rocks that you can scramble and climb over. The rest of the trail is deep woods with prairie by the pipeline. The part of the red trail near the end can be confusing, but if you follow the markers, you’ll be fine. You can see one marker from the next. The map shows taking the “connecting trial” with a big C marking the beginning. This is a hard scramble up a steep slope. If you look past the “C” market, you’ll see the square white marker for the trial ahead. I also didn’t bother double backing on the white trail to the red trail. Which reminds me, the connection between the red and white and the “connecting” trails are all together and confusing. Use this app to make sure you’ve taken the right trail.

great with dogs as well. sometimes gets rocky, but if my 6 mo of yorkie can keep up no one should have a problem. If you want to avoid many ppl, you need come before 10a. Can get crowded after that on the weekends. many small trails to follow...

Decent trail to hike. Not much in terms of scenery or views, but an easy gradual hike nonetheless. Most of the trail is shaded under trees, and mostly well marked. There were a few times I had to check the app to see which way to go. Oh, and watch out for snakes. Saw a 4 ft black racer on the trail

climbed up the pipeline train with Sun in the back, red trail to join white square. Descending the trail is hard due to boulders, took the circle trail to pipeline.

Not sure how this is rated easy. Took my 9 year old son mountain biking and we literally had to walk half the trail. It gets super technical halfway through with many rocks. Maybe easy for hiking, but definitely not for mountain biking.
