wonderful trail for bike riding

It is 10.3 miles and 1600 feet of climbing. Great course. I did it after snow storm and it was a lot of fun “little bit challenging but that is what we MTB like it” Highly recommended

wonderful trail

Awesome trail

Awesome trail

Easy. Perfect hike to go on with a big dog. The water is beautiful!

Fall blooms coming into peak. Damp and chilly day but once you get moving warms up. Nice and easy. Blue trail into the green. Hugged the beach for a bit then up through a pine grove. One minor incline and all ground. Good for beginners and children. Picked a couple of ticks off the dog and the wife when we got home.

Great hike though not quite a true loop. Gets overgrown as the loop gets closer to the end. Hiked with my wife and three daughters age 6,5 and 2. Carried the two year old half of it but older daughters loved it. Very scenic and pleasant walkabout

Very nice place. $10 parking fee so bring lunch and enjoy a nice view of the water.

This is a beautiful area to hike, but be weary of the upper white trail as it is not well marked and it's easy to wander off the path. The $20 entry fee (holiday weekend) was very steep, but the views were worth it. The main red blazed trail (Cushentunk Trail) is an easy trail in my opinion with gentle elevation changes. The high side of the white trail gets a little more technical with some rock scrambling.

Ok, am confused. We went about five miles in from South lot. Then we took a very close look at loop. Looks like it goes back across water?? Didn’t want to chance the last five with a prospect of doing 20 or so and wife killing me. Any feedback? Does the loop close by taking walk on road back to South lot??

Beautiful clean trails. Lots of side trails to make this a longer loop if you want. I totaled 17 miles without repeating any trails. The last 2 miles are on road.

Did this hike with my dog for the first time and she loved it. The hike wraps around the entire lake so the down side is if you don't have it in you to hike 20+ miles you'll have to head back the way you came. Other than that the lake is gorgeous, and there are a ton of spots to stop and enjoy the water.

I think is a really good trail for bikes BUT if you're an expert at that cause Im actually a beginner and was extremely hard and exhausting for me
I've been at Six mile run and I thought maybe Im ready for this but NOPE not yet
2.5 miles in the red trail and i was done already
Had to take the road to get back at the parking lot cause to tired
Definitely going again when I get in better shape and more experienced

There was a $10.00 fee to enter the park. Just turned around and found a free trail.

If you're looking for a place solely for hiking, and a trail where you feel like you've gotten away from civilization, then Round Valley is not the ideal place. For the first 3-4 miles, you're never far away from main roads or houses. Round Valley is also a popular place for mountain bikers, so again you don't really feel away from it all.

With that said, if you're looking for a place in NJ for an overnighter where you can pitch up a tent, get a campfire going (with plenty of fallen wood), and where the campsites are decently separated, then Round Valley is actually quite nice for that. Plus many of the campsites are within a stones throw of the reservoir which makes for a nice setting. So I'd say 3 stars for hiking, but maybe 4 stars for camping.

Pretty easy hike and nice views. Very muddy and almost felt like a walk through the park versus an actual hike. The trail to the campsites is more challenging here but overall, this trail is decent for a quick view of Round Valley. Despite all the 'There is NO poop fairy' signs, many canine owners on this trail do not pickup after their dogs, which makes for more than enough land mines along the route, unfortunately.

The trail that starts and ends at the end of the bridge is untouched, we had a difficult time finding out way though the trail the first time since the trail gets so thin and over grown at some points, besides that, it's a great place to walk.

Took my border collie with me to accompany me. Beautiful beach and view. The hike was alongside the beach about 75% of the time, the 25% being in woods or alongside the road. There is a fee to enter the park ($5)
