Very good workout. We walked whole loop and enjoyed most of it. We were attacked by flies by Bear Swamp Lake. It was so many of them that we almost ran.

My pups 1st walk & she had a blast in the lake & river

❤️Great for an easy to moderate hike. Perfect place to take your dog

Trail mark colors need to be marked on the AllTrails map.
Moderate hike, nice scenery, can swim in the lake.
Trail is marked well. But some sections of the trail had trees fallen. This needs to be cleaned up.
Flies everywhere.

Lovely hike. Good amount of up and down, with 3 scenic viewpoints. Went counter clockwise, felt like a good decision with a natural lunch stopping point midway at the titular den. Not too crowded when Memorial Day Weekend. Easy to get to from Tuxedo train station. Overall great day hike.

Loved this hike! Spotted Bear tracks which was neat

Great trail, there are quite a few parts that have a nice view, some steep spots but overall an easy hike.

Quite a few trail options and nice scenic views

Went with two kids—8 and 6–They got a little bored while we stuck to the road, but when we went off the road and on some actual trails or climbing over some of the many rocks scattered along the hills, they enjoyed themselves. Haven’t made it all the way around loop yet. Will probably have to do it without kids.

Hiked as a stewardship trip for Blue Friday with Campmor and NYNJ Trails yesterday! Nice initial incline and with the rest of the trail being very reasonable. Went with 12 year olds, dogs, and a mixed group. Nice views of the valley! Kudos to hikers for keeping it clean, we picked up less garbage than I thought we would!

Love this hike. The history of Claudius Smith and his gang is always fascinating to me. My dad always took me as a kid and we still go and enjoy ourselves. Love the views. We usually do the blue disc trail to the TMI trail to the white trail back so we can check out the Dutch Dr. shelter. From the shelter you can see below the field where the dutch doctor would grow his medicinal herbs. I almost always find fossils on this hike.

Awesome hiking trail in NJ! Great views!! Challenging with some climbing and perfect distance!

This place is incredible! Been here numerous times. I have hiked all trails in all seasons. Best hiking by far in New Jersey. I have been to many trails in south and central and west nj. This place has all types of trails. Great workout trails that last hours and small easy quick ones to take in the scenery. Great for dogs and kids. Drive two hrs every other weekend to get here and it's worth it. Make sure you arrive early in weekend before 930am. This place gets tons of visitors and the lot is jammed packed. Beautiful streams and waterfalls and overlooks and lakes. Plan accordingly if you take deep long hike. Never go off trail ticks snakes and getting lost can be avoided if planned and prepared.

Note; if your taking rt 17 as if aug 27th road blocked but there is a detour.

only the parking spot was little confusing. other than that, overall experience was awesome. we started from 67 Johnstown road, Sloatsburg (a small parking space for 4 cars). started with Orange and connected to Blue trail and did all the way up to TMI and joined in Red trail to join the Blue trail and the to while trail to get back to orange trail. overall 6 mile loop. unfortunately we did not bring lots of water and there was no water source either. awesome views.

Perfect if you just want to see the wooded outdoors. This path has 2 lakes for you to lookout on. Also features a beautiful waterfall. I know somewhere in the park you can go swimming near the waterfall. Also bring your dog if you can. There are tons of people with their dogs on this trail. Also its pretty well made for strollers too. Just be prepared for the big inclines while making your way up to the big lake.

This hike is beautiful but be cautious to follow your trail markings at ALL TIMES. It's fairly easy to drift off onto nearby paths.

Hike this with the hubby and our 10 yr old havanese. This hike was full of surprises, ups and downs, and 3 (or 4?) summits, rock caves, and lots of wild raspberries and blueberries to snack on along the way. Saw some Beatles, a lizard, and a tiny frog. Took us about 5 hours to hike the 6 mile loop, but that's bc our dog is slow and we stop a lot to snack on wild fruit! Definitely a beautiful hike. No one was around, so it felt blissfully remote :)

Lots of free parking and easy trail signs.
The lower loop of the park around the lake is great for an easy stroll and great view. The trial to the top has some s steep parts but it's manageable. The trail has great views of the stream leading down the mountain. Lots of dogs along the way and stroller friendly

The views are really good. We followed the Blue-Disc-trail to Almost Perpendicular. There is a steep rocky climb in the beginning till Almost Perpendicular. The view is awesome up there. Then we followed the blue trail to another good viewpoint Claudius Smith's Rock. From there we followed red trail where we dropped elevation gradually. In the end, there is white trail that brings you back to Johnsontown road Parking. I loved the blue-disc trail which is challenging and has steep climbs. White trail is just flat and not well maintained. Overall, a very good experience for me. As a beginner in hiking, I found it little challenging but doable and worth it on reaching the top.

Great trail the trial gets steep but I got a running stroller up the hill.
Lots of water falls and small animals along the way.
Great way to spend about 2-3 hours

Great place for a hike! starts off moderate level and then once you hit the loop it's easy. Brought our dog and had a blast

Did the Yellow trial counter clockwise to the reservoir then the blue trail back. Three good views in 3.3 miles. Good with kids.

Too many people, dogs not on leashes. Shelters were all occupied with people with tents essentially making it super uninviting. Not to mention the stealth campers every 2 miles or so setting up fire rings everywhere. Trash like nobody's business I hiked out a whole grocery bag full of it from Bald Rock.

Considering Sterling Forest is not that far away, you're better off going there. Ramapo is okay but it's too close to highways and flight paths, if a little tranquility and distance from man-made noises is important to you.

Love it

Variety of trail difficulties

Often crowded

No cave, no waterfall, basically just the lake. Lots of people at beginning and end of the trails since it is connected with the easy ones.
