Excellent hike. Varied terrain, nice views, rocky at points - boots are appropriate.

Great trail for hiking with the kids and dogs! The boardwalk bog is really cool!

Beautiful hike. Hiked it in the snow. Enjoyed every second. Well marked trail, a few uphill battles but pretty easy hike. I was lucky enough to have a clear day so the views were spectacular. some of the spots you have some branches in the way of the view but overall I have 0 complaints.

A gentle two mile walk with very interesting scenery! Very flat and took about 45 minutes. The bog was interesting and we even saw a porcupine. I want to come back again and combine it with the monument trail.

Very sweet and well marked, perfect in the fall! And definitely on the easier end of moderate. We made it in 1.5h with stopping at the monument which was quite chilly and windy. The monument was closed for the day (we kind of deserved that having driven through 5 hours of rain to get there) but it cleared up nicely for the hike.

Not a bad little trail. It’s worth it to see the monument but don’t expect an endless view at 1800 ft. The trail itself isn’t that scenic, just typical woods besides the wooden walkway by the swamp. I drove 1.5 hours to hike here and wasn’t disappointed, but not a place I would go to twice.

Very nice hike. I would recommend it to people who have at least some experience, since the trail is sometimes very steep and rocky. Proper hiking shoes is a must! Great views and nice places to take a break and enjoy the scenery.

This was a great hike. Only problem is the Appalachian trail markers were worn off or missing in places so we made some wrong steps before find the AT again.

Kids friendly, stroller friendly.

Very easy trial. Most of the trail has fine gravel pavement and super easy to push a stroller along. There is a short board walk in the middle. My 8 year old walked it twice because he likes it so much.

Expect 30-40 min with kids or stroller.

Great scenery, all around great hike.

Beautiful trail, unique plants and swamp landscape.

Some of my favorite views in N.J.!

You can also combine it with the Cedar Swamp Trail (the blue blazes) for some more cool scenery.

Absolutely gorgeous. One of kind bog unique for any location. Enjoy the nice walk.

Plenty of shade. Great views—no ridge hiking though. Two hikers—two ticks. We tucked our pants and used spray and still had two. There is also plenty of poison ivy—it’s low so if you wear pants you’ll be in good shape.

fun trail ! has a little bit of everything

The trail would be good if it was taken care off. It is overgrown.

Very well maintained. Some rocky sections but nothing too steep. Nice tree canopy in most segments of this trail, a nice respite from the sun. At the monument it was very windy which is apparently quite common.

Just hiked half but loved the trail. Not another soul on the trail in 4 hours!

Beautiful hike to see magnanimous Atlantic white cedars available only in this trail. Hemlocks are enigmatic too. At the fag end of the trail, I lost my way and started walking north toward NYNJ border. Soon realized and walked south to reach parking. Nice boardwalk near swamp where snow is still melting. Mosses are beautiful and form a carpet on the water. Difficult to imagine it was a 12 feet deep lake 15,000 years ago.

It’s a great mid-distance loop. A nice mixture of climbs and flat terrain. You’ll pass hardwood trees, a flowing creek, a small lake, and some nice overlooks. It’s a great way for new high pointers to check a state high point off the list. If you are a high pointer, I recommend going clockwise on the trail so you climb into the high point near the end of your hike.

Good hike not very challenging in terrain but good elevation. There’s a couple of scenic out cropping . Trail is well marked . Upset that the state line isn’t marked . I know silly . Just has posted trespassing signs

Conditions as of 3-31-18
Snow is sporadic and deep in spots . mostly dry overall .

Cool spot being the highest point of NJ .

Nice little hike around the top of the mountain. All the really good views can be seen from the monument which is awesome

Very peaceful. I walked the entire trail today, and never saw another person. Trail gets pretty rocky at parts, and slippery from all of the leaves.

It was a really well marked trail! A bit confusing once you hit the monument though. I would definitely recommend.

Agree with Kshitish's comments. I got way way off trail a few times - the new 15 mile trail needs to be marked better. The first part of the trail I covered was beautiful, there was some evidence of bear activity however. But once that trail hit the road I completely lost track of where I was supposed to go. It also seems strange to me to choose to use blue dots while there is a blue dot Appalachian trail that connects to this. Don't follow my track!

I thought the trail was great but being an out of stater, I had to pay $20. That leaves a bad taste in my mouth so I'm only giving this place 3 stars.
