Rollins State Park, located in Warner, is situated on the south slope of Mt. Kearsarge. A 3-1/2 mile long scenic auto road rises from the park entrance through woodlands to the parking and picnic areas. The picnic area, located in a natural wooded glen beneath granite ledges, is historically referred to as the "Garden." It affords views that stretch from Mt. Monadnock to the hills of New Hampshire's coastal plain. The summits of Pack Monadnock, Crotched and Uncanoonuc Mountains, the hills of central Massachusetts, and the Boston skyline are visible on the horizon, while the Mink Hills and Merrimack River Valley can be seen nearby. A one-half mile trail to the summit of Mt.Kearsarge leaves from the picnic area.

We’ve done this one a few times (most recently yesterday) with our dog and girls, 6 and 12. It is perfect for our little one, although going down on the rock slabs and scrambles has had a few challenges for her. Always lots of people, and there is a park fee, so just be prepared for those logistics.

Loved this trail. I went with two children and a dog and we made it up easily. It was a little challenging the first time we went because we are first time hikers but we went again the next day and found it easier. I live close to this Trail and we'll probably do it often.

Great easy family hike with great views. Lots of dogs and kids on this trail. Bring a lunch and eat on a picnic table at the base of the trail after the hike.

My first hike ever! Was slightly difficult in some parts but worth it once you get to the top! Absolutely gorgeous views! Trail was slightly crowded.

An easy, pleasant hike (when not too crowded) with nice views and a sizable bald summit.

This is a very easy route to the summit of Kearsarge. The trail is a quick hike with mostly easy to moderate grades and is heavily used. I used this trail as part of my descent on a 9.5 mile hike to the summit via the Lincoln Trail. The one lost star is due to the crowds.

Short hike but definitely some little challenges at times but nothing to dramatic. Very busy on the trail and at the top, mostly families and screaming kids so if you want peace and quiet this isn’t the trail or summit for you, but once your at the top the views are nothing short of amazing!

great hike to do with kids. It's short and sweet

This is definitely an easy hike. Took us less than thirty minutes to reach the summit but, still great views!

Fun, rocky hike with fantastic 360 view at the top!

Gate was closed so about 6 miles were just walking up paved road. Fairly easy hike but watch out when you reach the planks, some of them aren't nailed down completely.

Hiked from the bottom at the ranger station all the way up after an ice storm. Incredible experience and a beautiful place! 10 miles later! Lol.

Very easy hike. .5 up and .5 mile back. Some rocks, but nothing crazy. Brought my 7 and 5 yo kids who had no problem. $10 to get into the park, then you drive up 90% of the mountain, park, and hike the final bit. Phenomenal 360 degree views on top. Great bang for your buck!

This is our favorite trail. Our little kids can do this with very little difficulty and the views at the top are amazing.

Always a great hike all seasons. Love it in the snow when the trails is closed! That extra 1 1/2 mile is a nice warm up. Sunrise hikes are awesome as well.

Epic fail. Went today and road was closed for the season already! So lame. We had kids and only planned for a short hike so we couldn't walk the auto road the whole way. Maybe next year! I hope they consider staying open longer because there were many folks in the same boat as us that left annoyed and disappointed.

Love ,love this mountain! Perfect distance for a day hike. Today it was breezy and cold. Snow flakes were in the air as we made our trek!

I love doing this as a sunrise hike.

Great trek! 360 views. Pack a lunch for the summit. Great moderate climb on at times slippery granite rocks.

Im sure it would have been a nice hike if I didnt have my son. Many people said it was good for kids. I would highly disagree, it is not a hike for the younger kids. I was not expecting the trail to have as many rocks as it did. It was overall a pain in the but. I gave it a rating of 2 because it was not younger kid friendly. I couldnt even make it to the top with my son.

It was a nice hike for first time out this season!

If your able to travel the auto road to the parking lot this hike can be great for young children who will get to cherish such a awesome experience!

I love this hike and go at least once a year, usually in fall. You can drive on the auto road almost to the top and then take the short, but sometimes rugged, well marked path to the top. Beautiful 360-degree views!
