Views almost as good as South Mountain! Really easy trail, just a short steep section. Totally worth the effort for the view!! Next time we would drive further up Reservation Road to parking area with port-a-potty and access to South Mountain. Would hike both mountains in one trip.

Great trail and some awesome boulders to climb

Took the trail clock wise. First three miles or so were a nice walk on wide trails used for snow mobiles in the winter. Once you start gaining elevation, there are more challenging sections including boulder scrambles and water crossing. Huge diversity throughout. Longer distance than reported in the summary snapshot.

the views

Light traffic and beautiful views with all the foliage! Brought two pups who loved finding all the water spots. There is a large tree down across Shaw trail shortly after it splits off from Fundy trail - not too difficult to walk around but just something to be aware of. The climb to the summit does get rather steep, but not impossible - just a bit slippery with all the oak leaves and pine needles on the ground. 4 ⭐️ from our group as a few of the trail splits weren’t marked super well and had us doubling back. Found a few ticks crawling on my pup but he was off trail at times so that’s to be expected this time of year!

did this hike yesterday. Nice day out

Easy flat trail.

We did this trail on Sunday, but instead of taking the Mountain Trail at the junction with South Ridge Trail, we took South Ridge Trail directly up to the fire tower and then came back down via the 0.2 mile loop (blazed in red/orange) that connects back to South Ridge Trail. Beautiful day to be out. Nice colors still visible from the tower - although beware: bees are out right now around the tower and in the rocks around the tower. Otherwise, trails were in great condition. Dogs are allowed through the main entrance during this time of the season.

Nice hike! I went counter-clockwise, took me about 3 hours. I parked at the trailhead using the GPS coordinates on the map. Walked about 15 minutes through a nice leafy forest. At the first junction, do not go to the left through the gate. Walk a little to the right and the trail is marked with white diamonds up the rock face. Steep and rocky and challenging for about 10-15 minutes until the summit. Slippery leaf litter is bad over here. Walk for a while at a view nice viewpoints, and then start descending (steeply!!) down through a beautiful conifer forest. This eventually leads to the boulder field, with plenty of rock climbing fiends hard at work. At the near end of the boulder field, keep to the right. After this point, the trail markers is marked by painted white squares. Walk 0.2 miles to the car park, and hike up the dirt road to the right. Eventually the trail takes a right (marked) through some young leafy forest and some cleared out sections. At the junction with Chase Trail, stay to the right and walk through some easy uphills. End at the first junction.

Great hike with the kids. Amazing view at the end of the trail. The first third of this trail so can be done in a car and there is some parking up in that area before you start at the base of the hill.

Rocky climb up, forest walk on the return. Moderate views from overlook. Foliage is past peak, but great hike overall!

For anyone that likes to hike without seeing much people throughout the trails then this is definitely recommended! Barely saw anyone even when I ended up on the wrong trail lol but didn’t hear cars passing by which some other hiking areas include. Being able to be immersed in nature without a hint of “modern civilization” is gladly appreciated. There were times where I tripped on some tree stumps but other than that it was a smooth hike :).

Beautiful fall hike without seeing another person until we were almost finished! Markings going north up the South Ridge trail were sketchy at times, but still easy enough to follow. Followed over South Ridge Trail and had some beautiful foliage after the boulders.

We hiked only part of this trail today. Flat and easy for first part, then pretty steep ascent for lookout. I am a slow hiker due to back issues. Be Careful of Leafy cover!!! We never made it to summit ( sign said 1.5 miles), but there were nice views despite that. Due to time issues, we came down the same steep trail. We were coming down trail and taking our time and slipped and fell. Nice hike, but leafy cover made it slippery.

Parked at the visitor center but could have driven through lot and parked closer to trailhead. Bathrooms inside and an outhouse. Went up Mountain Trail (which was really steep the last half mile) and came down South Ridge Trail. Views at the top were great. Fire Tower was open but there were lots of bees and ladybugs.

Beautiful trail. Diverse scenery. Lots of acorns and down leaves so be careful. Summit and lookout views are pretty now but will be better in a couple of weeks.

Can’t see anything at the top of the summit or the overlook. Fun trail but a lot of flies and mosquitoes so make sure you have a headnet and insect repellent.

Nice way to spend an afternoon. the steep. rocky section on the middle can be challenging. but its very casual after that. not one of the more popular trails so a nice one if you want to be alone.
