Great short hike for beginners, especially snow shoeing. We caught the trail after a snowfall and was perfect snow shoeing conditions. Glad I had them on me to make the hike a bit easier.

Went mid Jan. parking and trailhead were closed. Had to park on side of road and trek through the snow to meet up with the trail. Great winter waterfall! Short and easy trail.

This is probably the easiest trail for Mt. Washington. Add Clay for a bonus.

Did this a couple times. I prefer it over most Mt. Washington routes.

I enjoy looping this with the Link Trail and Cas. Ridge Trail.

Absolutely fantastic trail!!!
Not for the faint of heart though.
Fairly easy till you break the tree line then it becomes difficult.

Great hike with our 5 and 7 year old troopers. Amazing views and technically challenging caps made for a not at all boring hike for the kids.

Happy Labor Day! What a brisk 20 degrees!

Easy 3.8 or so to Carter Notch hut on the 19 mile brook trail.

Then a very difficult 1 mile up, up, up to Carter Dome on the Carter Dome trail with a lot of scrambles. 1700' of elevation gain in 1 mile, with great views back towards the hut and the Wildcats.

Then an easy over to Mount Height. Rewarding views of the presidential range, buy was getting late so I didn't stop for long.

Then the mess begins. The .7 mile hike down from Mount Hight had several blowdowns which required going around, under, over down on the Zeta Pass back to the Carter Dome trail.

Then the 1.8 on the Carter Dome trail was worse with blowdowns and chunks of missing trail.
I'd guess they added an hour and surely sapped my energy on this 2.5 mile descent back to 19 mile.

I was happy to reach the 19 mile trail intersection and an easy 1.9 miles out. Arrived at dusk tired and grateful, any longer and I'd have put on my headlamp.

10:30 departure
6:10 return
7 hrs 40 minutes (probably 6.5 hours moving time)
9.5 miles plus some bushwhacking around blowdowns.
45 minutes at hut

Views were breathtaking - worth the difficult hike. It took us 5 hours to reach the summit on this trail in late October. We are average level hikers who took many stops for pictures.
**Leave early, bring warm layers, prepare for wind speed changes, terrain changes, and pack a flashlight if it gets dark before you finish. Hiking boots are a must bc of terrain**
The top of the summit has a cafeteria and restrooms. Many non-hiker visitors here. Also there’s a train that takes you down (to only one side of the mountain where not all parking lots are).

Amazing view. Recent snowfall led to slippery rocks near the top, so it can get somewhat treacherous during rainy periods. However, totally worth the hike.

Loved it - the views above treeline are truly breath-taking. As others have commented, the trail is very exposed once you're out of the woods. There were gusts that made me extra cautious about foot placement and slipping. Had to turn back early (maybe 1/4 to 1/2 mile from summit of Clay) because I had a gear failure and didn't want to chance it. I can't wait to come back and finish the entire trail; maybe even summit Washington. note: Make sure you bring warm gear - once out of the woods it is cold and windy.

one of my favorite hikes in the White's. Mt Hight offers tremendous views and doesn't get too much play.

Had such a blast on this one. The first couple miles are gradual, up and down. There are a few water falls, which are gorgeous. We we're lucky to get a clear day. As long as you do your weather research, and are in good shape, you should be able to manage this trail. Rocks can get slippery, and it can get very windy past the Alpine point. Just stay cautious and enjoy! Incredible views.

lovely falls. easy to reach for such a stunning set of falls

Yet another spectacular White Mountain, Presidential hike. Last hiked it in 1983 on a tour of the huts. Hiked up Ammonoosuc Ravine. Stayed at Lakes of the Clouds Hut. From there, went on Westside Trail to Mt. Clay, to Sphinx Trail, to Great Gulf Trail, to Lakes of the Clouds Hut, and back down the Ravine.

Yet another spectacular White Mountain, Presidential hike. Last hiked it on August 28-29, 1993. Up Huntington Ravine and over to Alpine Garden Trail, then up to Mt. Washington summit and stayed the night. Next day, came down David Path to Boot Spur Trail to Huntington Ravine and back to lot.

Fun hike
