Really, what doesn't this trail have. Roots, rocks, steep climbs, well marked, deep woods, water features and 20th century ruins.

Good markers make it an easy trail to follow. Decent look out points but many views blocked by trees. The castle steps is the coolest part right at the beginning of the trail.

Hard! But so good! Not a lot of places that are flat. Very challenging - steady inclines. Very pretty ponds and lookouts.

Amazingly beautiful. Late fall hike with few leaves in the trees offered extensive views!

Beautiful solo hike on a well-marked and maintained trail. It took me about 3 hours, but I’m pokey and stopped for lunch on the beautiful Moon Ledge on Daniel Mountain. There are definitely some steep and rocky bits so bring your hiking poles! It was surprisingly populated for a random Monday in November, but it was also 70 degrees and sunny so that could have had something to do with it. I saw several folks on the Ann Stokes Loop but had Daniel Mountain all the myself.

Incredible views at the top. A little slippery after all the leaves had fallen and a little difficult to see where the trail was but we managed. It was a beautiful trail would definitely come back.

Beautiful view, a lot of leaves on the trail. Pretty easy especially if you take Ann Stokes to get there.

HikingGreat!

There are two parking lots. One is at the trailhead. If that’s full, there’s a second lot across the street. The Stoke’s loop is easy with mixed terrain. The Wantasiquet section is steeper and rockier. I appreciated having hiking poles as the leaves make for slippery slopes.

It was great! I went with my family to see the old ruins of Madame Sherri’s summer home and then to do this trail. It was tougher then I expected! There were definitely some steep inclines but the view was amazing!

Beautiful trail, nice and clean with no litter. It can be a little treacherous - especially with fallen leaves obscuring the trail and making things slippery - but it’s a beautiful piece of land with some beautiful views!

Elevation gains off the bat. Moist ground, rocks and footing was slick and tricky. Overall great hike.

Hiking

The Ann Stokes loop, which leads to the Daniels Mountain loop is a great day hike with varied terrain and forest types. The Ann Stokes loop is mostly hardwood forest that is filled with wild mountain laurel. It must be gorgeous in the spring. My fall hike featured beautiful copper beeches. The Daniels loop is more evergreen forest, and many of the trees are large and mature. The moon ledge at the tip of the Daniels Mountain loop (not the Daniels Mountain summit) is a great spot for lunch. The trails are well marked and very well traveled. I was surprised by how many people were hiking there on a weekday. The length of the loops and the up and down terrain make it a nice day of exercise with lovely views from some spots, as well as the interesting history of Madame Sherry's castle ruins.

I love this trail! Hiked yesterday (10/17). Gorgeous views at the summit, not too steep or challenging, but a great workout. We combined the Daniels Mountain Loop with the Ann Stokes loop for about 4.5 miles, took about two hours. There was almost no one on the Daniels Mtn loop on a busy Saturday, and this was the best view. Will definitely do again!
