This is actually 5.71 miles out and back. Trail is rough, hiking boots are strongly suggested to help navigate terrain. Mount Bald has wonderful views.

Amazing views the whole way up, from waterfalls to 360 Mountain View’s. Definitely a very hard trail, especially on the way down. Very long as well.

One of my favorite trials in the area.

Amazing trail! As others have said here; take falling waters up and enjoy the waterfalls then cross over the Franconia Ridge and go down Old bridal trail. the whole thing took me my dog and my slower friend 8 hours to complete the loop.

Quick and easy with great views at the top!! Perfect hike if you only have a couple hours to kill. The only downside it the highway noise if you’re starting from the Indian Head resort side. The cool part about that though, is walking under the overpass.

Used Mt Kinsman Trail to connect to Kinsman Ridge Trail to get to North and South Kinsman. The Mt Kinsman trail is a great trail. After passing the junction for Bald peak the trail gets steeper with more rocks and roots to go over. One it connects with Kinsman Ridge Trail there is a nice little outlooks where you can see Cannon Franconia Ridge.

Wonderful hike, incredible view! Good for a casual. Type of hike mid day

Views are amazing at the summit!

Great moderate trail with a steady incline. Perfect for a new hiker. The views at the top are beautiful!

A nice moderate trail with a beautiful view at the summit which is perfect for family with young children and inexperienced hikers. It's a casual easy climb through the wood for most of the way before it gets a little steep closer to the summit. The main thing I don't like is that it was incredibly buggy in June. Even in the summit where it's sunny, we were relentlessly pestered by bugs.

The panoramic views of the whole Franconia notch area is absolutely incredible.

Great view for such a short hike. Would be great in the fall!

Did an out and back to Little Haystack Mtn. A great four + hour hike. The waterfalls are viewed early, about half a mile in and get better as you continue for about another half mile. Once past the falls the trail gets steeper and more technical to the summit of Little Haystack. The view at the summit of Little Haystack is spectacular on a clear day and, gets better if you continue to Mt. Lincoln and Lafayette on the Franconia Ridge Trail. Then you can go down the Greenleaf Trail to the hut and continue down the Old Bridal Path Trail.

I would say the hike is moderate and the view is totally worth it.

Good trail, dog friendly. Not too steep. Easily up in an hour and down in 35 minutes. Nice views.

Franconia Ridge Trail between Little Haystack & Liberty is a MESS. Tons of down trees, a bundle of 4-5 trees every 200ft. We took the trail from Haystack over to Liberty and the first half of the trail is where most of the problems lie. We let the caretaker at Liberty Springs know and they will be working on clearing it up in the following weeks. If you are taking the trail between Haystack and Liberty, be ready to do the limbo! Overall great hike.

Really fun hike! It was a little muddy from the rain but still fairly easy! There is a part where you cross the brook which is a little challenging but other than that it was great! Very pretty hiking up along the water! Would definitely do again.

Great view at the top! Wasn’t too bad of a hike for my dog. Ran into a bear on the way down but he ran off quickly.

I really enjoyed it. The trail was heavily traveled, but it was the beginning of the holiday weekend. Hit a few spots of snow and ice but nothing unmanageable. The summit was windy. I wish I had more time I would of headed up the ridge trail. Definitely go back.

Perfect day hike. I only saw 2 people toward the beginning of the trail and then had the whole place to myself. Beautiful views at the top!

Completed the loop in 6 hours. Ascent up Little Haystack had a tiny bit of snow - we didn't need spikes but they could be helpful for that tiny section. Very windy on the Ridgeline. Descent had a tiny bit of snow, less than ascent. Beautiful hike! We saw why it is so popular.

I had a great time on this trail. Nice and steady incline, but I wouldn’t describe it as steep. The view is great at the top. Would be perfect for a picnic lunch!

one of my new favorite hikes! fantastic trail, extremely well marked. steady incline, but not too steep. the view from the top is absolutely breathtaking! (and smells like christmas trees!)

*the trailhead is at the very back of the flume gorge parking lot off exit 34a*

Nice trail. Lots of incline. The tunnels going under 93 are fun for kids. Trail still had some snow when we did it in april. Nice view at summit.

It's a nice trail, but don't do that, do the whole loop on the franconia ridge, it's definitely worth the few extra miles! You are already up there, so why skip the best part?

****Careful this tracking is odd and include doing the franconia loop TWICE! Otherwise, this trail is great, and is similar to what we did back in late September 2017. The tracking is weird however, why do the loop twice? This hike is only 14 miles if you don't do it twice... What we did was start from mount flume, walk the ridge, and then back down the valley - probably around 22 miles

The Basin and the first cascade you encounter are nice, definitely worth a stop. However, I would not recommend going beyond there. The trail becomes steep and eroded, with bad footing, there is also a very difficult brook crossing. Neither Kinsman Falls nor Rocky Glen Falls seemed particularly amazing.

Beautiful winter hike for a breath of fresh air! Scenic!!
Been going here for years and it never gets old! A wonderful spectre of nature and I love the changing scenery during each season! You won’t be disappointed!

Amazing hike. Set off around 8am to leave plenty of time and ended up getting back to my car at 1pm. Spent about a minute at the summit due to very strong winds, very cold, and it being socked in. Mother Nature decided to reward me on the way down and things cleared for a beautiful bluebird sky complete with birds serenading me. Used microspikes the entire hike and without them, it would have been much more difficult in a lot of places. Had the entire mountain all to my self. All in all a great time.

Used this trail up to Bald peak and onto the KRT, great long hike. Fun butt sliding on the ridge too.
