Explore the most popular dogs on leash trails in Bear Brook State Park with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

A perfect combo of all great things in nature- steep areas, foresty areas, babbling brooks, and a waterfall. Gorgeous day! Numerous trails can be a bit confusing, but signage is pretty good. I hopped on the Cascade Trail after Little Bear- great choice.

Great trail! Took my dog, she had a great time and we got some good exercise! Be cautious of a few downed trees in certain parts of the trail.

Beautiful spring day. A bit muddy in places but I'll take that over work any day!

A good trail, the dogs love it!

I walked this counter clockwise in direction and it’ seems to be the best way — lots of stone steps and just long enough and interesting- for a dog walk. I have mountain bikes this and they have made recent improvements to make it more mountain bike friendly. Under used more than likely won’t see a soul

a little confusing, but absolutely beautiful

I had an hour to kill while out of town and this was perfect! Took about twice as long to get to the top as it did to come down, but the views were worth it. Well marked, fairly technical, and is mostly rock towards the top. Wish I had time to go longer- worth the $4. Heads up, they only take credit cards in the booth near catamount. The main entrance is cash only.

Cut our loop short because of the threat of thunderstorms but still a nice trail loop we made. Pretty easy with 3 kids and only slight inclines. Would be great for mountain bikes!

Very short but a good climb and lots of fun. There is not much of a view due to trees blocking the vista but it was a great hike. The trail is not marked with blazes, but occasionally there are white markers that say catamount. There are many little trails that run off the trail that are obvious in the summer, which are possibly mountain bike trails

The way we went, which was the most clear path (up Catamount, down Catamount shortcut, didn't bother doing the extension at the top) was only about 2 miles. Makes it an easy to intermediate hike. Yes the whole way up is an incline, but it's not too steep. Catamount shortcut is a shorter way up, but much steeper!

Absolutely gorgeous. The trail was well marked and very quiet for it being a 70 degree afternoon in October. Totally worth the 4 dollars per person park fee.

New to mountain biking. Friend took me here. Some sections were pretty technical, looking at the loop we did, most was on the black difficult trails. For the most part though, it was a blast! Had a lot of fun and was beat the reat of the weekend, but it was a good kick into the world of trail riding

Awesome. Well maintained trails for hiking lil advance for biking but if you k ow how to bike lime that its perfect

Lots of trail options here. I usually take One Mile Trail and follow it to the Bear Brook trail. The river is pretty. There's a few narrow parts which got congested with mountain bikers. Also took the path nearby Bear Brook which lead to farmland. Don't hike here on the hotter days and in late July/August though, the deerflies were especially horrible and ruined a few hikes. Tens of them chased us three miles back to the cars. Four dollar park fee per person upon entry.

I keep getting lost trying to stay on Pitch Pine. Im either going to get shot with an arrow or hooked by a fly fisher.Little Bear trail is fun though. All in all well worth the park fee.

We did the Hall Mountain and Ferret trails this weekend, though not by design! We set out to climb Hall Mountain, then follow the trail around to the Hall Mountain Marsh Trail and back to the car off Podunk Road. The Hall Mountain Trail was mostly unmarked, and we came upon several intersecting trails that are not marked on the park's trail map--very confusing. Because we could see Hall Mountain from several spots along the trails, we could orient ourselves and choose trails that appeared to take us in the general direction of the car. We finally came upon a sign at the intersection of the Hall Mountain and Ferret Trails, and decided to take the "sure bet" and follow Hall Mountain Trail out to the 4-H Camp and to Podunk Road. No sign of the Marsh Trail anywhere. Despite the confusion, the hike was fun and the park is beautiful, but I hesitate to recommend it because we felt like we were lost for most of our hike.

This is a nice hike when you are looking for something that isn't overly strenuous. It takes you up and down through a beautiful woodland area.

Wonderful park with lots of trails to choose from. The trails themselves are well maintained however, some of them were very poorly marked, so navigating proved to be tricky at times. Beautiful area though, and no crowds when we went so that was a definite plus!

I used to go to Bear Brook on a daily basis when growing up. Place is beautiful and is great for hikers, walkers and all sorts of outdoor activities. Has all sorts of trails for exploring and is a wonderful place to go and fish and relax. Is also a great place to take your camera as you will see many animals (small) and birds as well as some beautiful scenery. Has a campground as well as a beach area for swimming.

I LOVE it here! It is close-by, available all year round, has varied trails. My daughter comes with her horse and I with my mountain bike.
