Wow! Technically speaking only base on Fire Wave Trail - Nice. Small thought. The Trail is Easy, big rocks plus the “Fire Wave (like) Rocks” are just cool, watch your step the rocks are rigid but other than that it’s something different. Sit, relax and clear your mind.

Very quick and easy hike with cool views of the rocks in the park. Would be an easy hike to pair with another longer hike for the day. Lots of water needed as most of the hike is in the sun.

Hike was crowded mid-day on a Tuesday in April. I imagine the whole thing would be more grand in early morning light anyhow. Lots of lizards, blooming cacti, and beautiful striped rocks.

Beautiful hike and no crowds on a Monday.

Taking this trail clockwise (starting from the left behind the toilets) can be intimidating as you go down about 200 feet down a man made stone staircase. This can be tricky if you're not used to it, especially as the sand on the steps can be slippery with the wrong shoes. If this intimidates you, I'd suggest to start the trail from the other side of the parking circle, taking the trail counterclockwise. Going from this direction, you will take a sandy trail following the side of the road, then down some manmade steps (much more standardized in size than on the other side of the trail, and not steep at all- you can see those steps in my photos), then a short slick rock you may need to step down. This is the hardest part on this side of the trail, then the trail will be realatively flat for about .2-.3 miles, then it will get a little rocky. You could go down in to the wash take a left into the 'slot canyon' ... at the next left is where you can go up the 200 foot incline (staircase) or turn around and go back if the steps are intimidating.

Easy walk out, but it was very heavily trafficked mid-day. Impossible to get a pic without many people in the shot.

Beautiful, short and easy hike! Definitely kid friendly. There are plenty of rocks to climb along the trail. The scenery and colors here are amazing and the little slot canyon around halfway through the hike is really cool. This hike has plenty of great photo ops as well!

A very easy hike, great for kids!

my favorite spot at valley of fire alot of area to explore dont really need trails

Cool trail down a wash. Didnt see a single sole, and while only a couple of miles from my car it felt so desolate. Really cool experience.

Awesome colors, hard to comprehend how different areas so close to one another can be.

Overlook for Fire Canyon is breathtaking.

Lots of people and atvs

We got there as the sun was setting and once the sun went down we got caught in a sand storm with minimal visibility. We almost couldn’t find our way back to the parking lot so defiantly be very careful this is a short hike but still very cool

the trail is beautiful, but don't forget to stop and look around you or you will miss the hidden gems. There is a wonderful arch you can climb in and through near the end of the loop

very pretty short trail. This trail also offers one of the easiest access points into Fire Canyon

Short little hike over differing terrains, beautiful sandstone contacts and the conglomerates are beautiful as well. Fire wave itself is very small.

Beautiful scenery. The colors in the surrounding rocks are incredible

This is a wonderful trail with the spectacular views and colors of the surrounding areas. I would say that the drop into the canyon was a little more than easy. For my wife and I, I would rate this trail more as moderate. Well worth the effort.

SPECTACULAR imagery along the hike! So many unique rock formations and colors to gawk at. Very simple hike but you will want to be constantly stopping to take pictures and gaze at your surroundings! Valley of Fire is one of the coolest places I've ever visited.

This is definitely a walk rather than a hike, but more than a tourist stop stroll. Well worth it; the fire wave is unique and gorgeous. I had a perfect weather day, but imagine it gets painfully hot in the height of summer (bring water!) as you're walking on red rock or in sand the entire trail. I wasn't originally planning to stop at Valley of Fire on my drive to Zion, but really really glad I did. What a stunner.

very nice hike. great views, many directional signs and easy enough for all abilities. Its not 3.1 miles more like 1.1. Awesome slot canyon too.

Nice hike. Interesting slot canyon in the middle. Part of hike in sand so slow going. We took some side trails and found some interesting spots. What a great park

Easy hike with great rock formations. The trail is easy to follow and would be good for kids. Plenty of side trails to adventure off in your own. Didn’t see any animals but you will see many different animal tracks in the sand.

shorter than i thought it would be but the drive and the scenery was beautiful

A short hike through soft sand to a rock outcrop that has some great views. From the outcrop you can walk down a rock/sand wash to a vista with some more views. Well worth the short trip!

The trail is poorly marked, but pretty much everyone trampled in the same direction so you could tell more or less where it went. The trail branches at one point fairly close to the start; the left branch has some fairly deep side, but has an additional viewpoint. I think this viewpoint may be Rainbow Vista, but I wasn't too impressed. The side trail loops back into the main trail. If you follow it to the end, you'll arrive at Red Canyon Overlook. It's relatively pretty, and is worth the hike. Just don't expect to find a rainbow, because Fire Canyon is all red. I really wish the signage or the guidebooks they gave you were a little more descriptive, because I felt I missed something on this trail. From the other reviews and pictures on this trail, I'm not the only one.

Easily my favorite hike in the park. The views along the way weren't quite as good as Mouse's Tank, but the end of the hike was fantastic. The sandstone is striped like a giant cinnamon candy cane. You can't really see the detail up close, but the views all around have that spectacular striping. This hike has some uphill and downhill, including over a large portion of bare sandstone, but shouldn't cause any trouble for someone in decent health and fitness.

End of November.
This trail would have been no more than a 3 simply due to the sheer number of people hiking it, regardless of the beauty.
However: catch a connecting trail or just start walking/climbing the rocks and it’s like you’ve got the world to yourself. For all the people on the loop, once we branched off saw one family of 5 in the next 3hrs...
and it was a pretty awesome- following washes, hidden slot canyons, valleys, etc etc
We finished up the hike at sunset which made it all the more amazing. Looked like an alien world.
Definitely recommend if u r willing to go off the beaten path.
