It’s beautiful, just too short... I found it perfect for a quick jaunt, a great little place to sit and have a snack, read or write. Several interesting caves.

beautiful yesterday

A steady hike upwards and a bit rockier than most of the trails I’ve hiked in Charleston. The view at the end was amazing and worth returning for. We stayed up there for a good bit. I’d recommend going on a weekday, otherwise it will be somewhat crowded.

Great practice for high elevation hikes

Great trail. More of an incline than from the description. Beautiful beautiful. Did this with my 8 month old on my back.

Absolutely amazing view at the top. Steady climb up the whole way. Definitely worth it.

A breath taking view. Moderate sized rocks for trail, steep incline for a good time. High altitude with slight shallow air at the peak. A beautiful trail that someone wouldn’t expect from Vegas. I Highly recommend it

steep and rocky but great views!

Have hike Cathedral Rock multiple times and always enjoyable. Fairly short hike, takes me about 1½ hours, including a break at the peak to admire the view. The elevation in general and the incline of the trail make for a good workout.

Walked this challenging trail with my daughter and her boyfriend. I’m 50 and out of shape. This was a great way to test the endurance and strength of a “old man”
The views are awesome and I will be returning to do some of the other trails on the Mt. Charleston range!

Great moderately difficult trail. Beautiful views, great amount of exercise if you’re looking for a short hike. There were multiple boomboxes on the trail, which was kind of annoying. It was also slightly crowded.

As good as it gets. Great cardio. Awesome views. And a little price at the end of the trail.

Nice hike, steady climb after steep start, good shade. Two tiny springs at top still flowing. Great place to beat Vegas heat!

I’m reviewing this from a family with two young kids perspective... and it is a fantastic if grueling hike. Not sure what I could have done it in myself, but it took us 3.5+ hours round trip stopping at every bench and sitting spot along the way and a long cool down up top. Started by about 8:30. 4yr old and 8yr old went up and down on their own. Incredible views. Highly recommended.

Great trail to hike! Some days the parking can be limited so try to get there early. I hiked with my dog and it was even a work out for her lol. It's Very challenging but worthy. It's not a boring straight trail- it curves and peaks up right away! I like that it has several resting stops with large benches. Great view once you complete it! Coming down is easy but steep so be careful with the loose gravel and rocks in certain areas - u can slip or slide which I did

5/30/2017 Great hike. Snow is all gone on trail. Pretty steep even with the switchbacks. At top you can turn left and hit Griffith peak in about another 1/3 Mile up or turn right and dare to continue on to Mt Charleston for what looked like miles and miles all on an epic ridge trail. I was very tired and, with the elevation- chose left and even that was really grueling. The other reviews on this site are spot on so no need for me to add anything else other than BRING WARM CLOTHES it was cold and windy up there.

Carried my 4yrold damn near all the way up.. but he made it down the whole way by himself! My 6yrold daughter did it up and back no problem! Great family hike!

Did this trail on 27 May, the weather was overcast and sprinkling with light rain at times. Trail is well visible, with benches along the way to stop and take in views. Highly recommend to those seeking a little longer of a trail that doesn't require climbing over boulders or anything too extreme.

Really nice view once you get to the top.

The details: Hiked 5/16/18. 55 y.o. hiking fit. 7 am start. 3 hours to summit, 5:30 RT. Snow is no longer an issue, just a couple of very small spots. I brought my yaktrax, and didn’t need them. T shirt up to ridge line where you make the left to GP. Very windy and cold from there, needed hat and gloves and a layer.

This is an awesome hike, my favorite in LV area. 360 views at the top. Very well maintained trail. No scrambling but very steep at the top. Have fun and treat yourself to a Buffalo burger and a beer at the lodge afterwards!

Great views during the entire hike up, and an awesome work out! If you’re not in good shape (I’m not) definitely give yourself a few hours so you can take some breaks along the way. I only gave myself about 1.5 hours and I definitely felt rushed to get off the trail before dark. Take your time and enjoy the trip, it’s something you have to do while you’re in the area!

Summited 4/28/18 - as previous hiker said, lots of snow above 9k feet just after the second major overlook. The trail became completely obscured and we ended up following footprint paths in the snow directly across the switchbacks until just before the final bit of trail to the ridgeline. Trekking poles and microspikes helped us a ton and are highly reccomended. The snow often was up to our knees and there is currently no other way we could see to reach the ridgeline. Some footprint paths lead through more powdery snow that you can sink deep into, so be careful. Dirt on ground was damp from the snow melt and mostly had good traction, but was occasionally muddy and required extra caution. This was our first time hiking through this amount of snow and we felt confident as long as we took it slowly.

At the ridgeline, snow is melted away. A patch here or there on the final hike up to Griffith peak, but nothing that cant be walked around. Finding a safe route down was much easier as we already had a feel for the layout of the snow. 8 hours round trip for us from Cathedral Rock parking lot, including a break for lunch at the ridge line windbreak.

Hiked to the peak 4/23/18 and ran into 2-3 feet of snow and ice once we hit 9,300. From the cathedral rock trailhead, it’s about 9 miles round trip.. Spikes were huge in helping us hit the top since the switchbacks became hard to follow once we hit the snow. Great views the whole time

Nice short trail, lots of trees and shade. Occasional creeks with running water.

One of my favorite trails. Beautiful sites to see and a wonderful summit.

Amazing trail! Very steep but the views are worth it. The clouds moved in about halfway up unfortunately and while it was fun to hold in the clouds, the view from the top was just grey in every direction. I'll definitely be coming back in the Spring!
