Good moderate trail to begin your day! Nice and cool with wonderful breezes. Get there early, trail head parking limited.

Great hike. moderately challenging, as I had to rest three or four times at the switchbacks. pack plenty of water. amazing view at the end.

Great trail. Some inclines, but not too gravelly or potentially muddy. Lots of flats to counter the inclines on the ascent. Not as "Mountain View Scenic" as Mary Jane or Trail Canyon, but nice for those who like a look at the flora. Hundreds of beautiful pine cones on our hike.

Great hike! We did this hike a month ago. prior to all the smoke. Amazing views. lots of switchbacks. Once you get to the ridgeline, that is a great place for a break prior to the final straight up push to the summit.

This IS the only open trail to Griffith Peak, but it is NOT the Griffith Peak Trail. The Griffith Peak Trail was never used all that much, and is still closed due to a fire some time back. The trail in question is most commonly referred to as the South Loop Trail, as mentioned in the body of the article. By the way, it's an excellent hike!

Nice view at the top but lots of people crowding the trail.

The temperature was only around 80F late morning in early July. When it was 104F degree on the Strip, it was an amazingly refreshing experience to hike this trail. Great view and well maintained.

My dog and I both made it the second attempt to hike it. The top was steap, recommend poles or walking stick.

This hike was really fun. I took my six-year-old grandson and we were so excited when we found the first mine. When you arrive to the end of the trail and there is a metal sign posted on the big tree in front of you saying the owner of the mind you’re going to go right to get to the first mine which is a short distance. My understanding is the second mine is further up but you have to crossover a lot of debris and we chose not to do that. On the next trip we’re going to veer to the left at the mine sign on the tree
and follow the second spring up.

Fun hike. View at the end makes it worth it.

Tougher than it looks. Bring water and good shoes or boots to wear. View at the top is rewarding.

Loved this hike!!! Gets your heart pumping but plenty of places to catch your breath and such incredible views!!! I will definitely be doing this one again!

Led a group of co-workers for a little fun weekend outing; all skill- and endurance levels were represented, and we all got up to the top just fine. The trail gets busy and some parts are in open sun, so I recommend an early start. It's a beautiful trail with a great viewpoint.

Beautiful hike. I believe this one is better than Mary Jane Falls. Hiking boots a must.

What a gorgeous view! The weather was great and a welcomed break to the LV heat. It was the perfect getaway for the day. We started the hike at 9:30 am and it was just perfect. It’s definitely a moderate hike, but take stops along the way and enjoy the journey.

After reading all the great reviews on here I had to go and check this trail out for myself this past Saturday.

I’m kicking myself for not going sooner. The views at the bottom are nice but as you start to get near the top they are just absolutely gorgeous.

The trail is mainly on an incline the entire way, so don’t forget to take a break when needed.

this was the first time I hiked anything like this. I felt accomplished! We took my 3 grandkids and my dog and they did fine. Gorgeous views during the entire hike. We even had some rain. At the flat area near the top there is a small flat area you can camp. Leave no trace and no camp fires. This hooked me on hiking! Strenuous hike for beginner, but so worth the pay off.

Great hike with friends. Uphill going to the top of Mount Charleston but you will be rewarded with a great view of the surrounding mountains and valley below. I would definitely do this hike again.

Beautiful trail to a stellar overlook! We were fortunate enough to get some of that rare Nevada rain on our way back down the mountain! It only added to the adventure and the beauty of the day! This trail is in great shape!

We just completed this hike in the rain and it was gorgeous. The view is phenomenal and totally worth the hike.

Awesome hike! Nice trail that has few people on it.

I was trying to go to the Trail Canyon Overlook (not to be confused with Trail Canyon!), missed the turn off and wound up here. Glad I did! The view was great and it's always nice to get away from the Vegas heat. This hike is a great work out for the legs and lungs! On my way down, I found the turn off for Trail Canyon Overlook and made my way there. Unfortunately, that trail seemed impassable at a certain part, so I had to turn around. Will definitely do this hike again!

Great trail and hike to help beat the heat of Las Vegas. Took 4 adults and 6 kids ranging in age from 3-16. They all did great. Many places to stop along the way.

So far my absolute favorite hike as far as view goes. It isn't the most difficult hike but the views and foliage view are breath taking. A great hike for a date too. The top of the rock is a romantic one!!

I’m in average shape with some difficulty breathing at this altitude ... so that part was difficult for me but pushing through that it was worth it to get to the top of Cathedral Rock, worth the workout on my lungs and legs :). It was a beautiful hike would definitely do again and hope to continue to condition myself to join the world of outdoorsy types like you all!

I only marked it as decent because I could not finish the trail. I was only checking my app sporadically and wound up at Cathedral Rock (first time up these trails). I backtracked to the turn and headed for the Trail Canyon Overlook. The turn toward TCO is marked by a 4x4 post in the ground. If there was a sign it is no longer there. A little over half a mile later, it dead ends; right where the map shows a sharp right turn. There is no path there. I pushed through and came upon a built up manhole cover, but couldn’t go any further. I also tried scrabbling around the area to see if I could circumvent the growth, but no such luck.

Still, it is beautiful up here! I’ll give Cathedral Rock 5 stars.

Awesome hike - make sure you arrive early as parking was full at 8am. The hike is mostly comprised of inclines with two switchbacks at the end of the trail that gets you up to the viewpoint. Great views. Coming down was very relaxing and pleasant.

Just got back from this hike. Worth every ankle busting, hamstring flexing, quad building step! The view is incredible!
The whole hike up is pretty much an incline and mostly made up of switch backs, you'll be feeling it in your thighs halfway through but keep going. The hike down will be rough on the ankles. My legs are pretty much jelly fish right now. Its closer to 10 miles total.
The scenery goes from okay to great. The fire took out a lot of trees and early on you may find it discouraging but if you keep going it gets a lot greener.
You'll feel a sense of pride when you've made it.
