Pretty cool trail used mainly by climbers for accessing routes on Rainbow & Browstone Walls (and descending). A lot of 2nd 3rd and a bit of 4th class scrambling. Cool chimneys and rock tunnels to climb though. Awesome way to spend the day if the rock is still to wet to climb. Didn't see a single other hiker almost the entire way.

I am not going to say it's easy by any means but it's worth it. We went up to watch the vegas lights come on and descended in the dark. Was an amazing view. Tough uphill ascent with lots of long rocky pulls. Great workout. Don't give in at the first hill though.

Nothing special. Used as a slow recovery scramble for the legs after doing Chasm Lake in Colorado.

Nice little flat hike then it gets fun and the views are pretty special. Very easy access/parking.

This trail was pretty cool . Was very scenic up until the endish, then the fun starts. I really enjoyed myself on this adventure.

The first 1.5 miles is open gravel trail that’s not too eventful until you enter the canyon and come upon some level 1 scrambling. Then the trail gets a little unclear once you reach the last half mile which is the majority of the elevation gain. Great views of the Strip along the way!

Trail was hard to follow at times especially in the beginning at the top. Great views. We were the only person on the hiking trail but did see a few trail runners and mountain bikers on adjacent trails.

This area is where my family (local to Vegas) calls home. Pick your poison out here (for free). Easy, rocky trail approach to the Red Rocks. ..Simple desert trails not frequented by the national park tourists...Challenging scrambles with beautiful vista payouts...Enough moderate rock climbing to fill days worth of sends. Plenty of places with minimum to no exposure to picnic with little ones. This is where I teach my kids (ages 3 & 5) basic desert knowledge, hiking, scrambling, & top rope climbing. Come check out the locals spot and avoid the crowds. Word of warning....This place gets plenty of sunlight which is particularly nasty during summer months. Seriously, I almost killed my sisters dog on a 15 minute hike!!! Plan accordingly :)

I put this trail together because I needed something a little more difficult than any one trail in Red Rock could offer. I do recommend going counter clockwise when leaving the visitors center that way you can knock out Turtlehead Peak early on.

Not too exciting until you get to "the Hidden Canyon" - very cool scramble up and around Canyon. Beautiful!

Took the long way to the top of this trail - followed it back down from the top! Wow! This is rated Hard for good reason - be prepared the wash is thick pea gravel to huge boulders at the top - Take lots of water in the warm months! View is worth the effort!

Will do this one again - well worth it!

Nice trail away from the once every five years hiker

This is a great trail to take your AllTrails app on. There are several promising spurs and no signs. However it's beautiful country so I don't think you could really lose out on the scenery of you didn't follow the trail to a "T" The loop is part hiking and part belaying. If you go without a rope take the right branch on the loop. As others have mentioned you will have to turn around but at least you will Summit.

Starts out slow and gradual as you enter the turn around point in the back, bring climbing rope or you'll have to retrace your steps and go back the way you came, very amazing scenery if you go and would recommend to anyone.

Did this hike at nighttime (don't recommend doing it alone!) to get a good view of the meteor showers, not only was that sight amazing, but the view of all the city lights is spectacular. Haven't tried a daytime hike yet, but the night one is definitely worth it.

Wasn't sure what I was getting myself into wth this one but oh what an accomplishment! It was a hard climb up. Coming down the backside was a breeze compared to climbing up the front. Would do it again but maybe climb up in a different area.

The trail is rated difficult but it's moderate at best. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. Definitely an enjoyable hike that should take no more then 3 hours.

Reattempt on 11 Mar but prevented from summit (350m approx) due to heavy snow in the slot of final approach. Not knowing the depth and sound of flowing water underneath forced us to camp on high point at base of Rainbow Wall...Pretty damn cool by itself. Sandstone has amazing grip here. Will compete this after the melt.

Easy to follow, some boulder hopping. Watched the rock climbers. Good fun

The skinny: not that exciting of a hike, almost teases you with just doing Turtlehead Peak as opposed to trying to find Kraft Mountain peak.

From the parking lot you follow the Kraft Mountain loop trail and go up Hell Hill Trail. (15-20mins)
Then through Rattlesnake Trail you'll come to a junction, go right onto Upper Gateway Canyon Trail. From there the peak is literally in front of you, you just have to make sure you're not wasting your time going up the wrong one. If you walk up the UGC Trail, you'll see the trail, but not too visible. Don't give up when you can't find it, cause you're so close!

about an hour-1.5hrs each way at a slow & steady pace with minor breaks in between.

Have a video of the hike up the point where I went up the wrong peak the first time lol

This is a great little hike. After a long hike yesterday this is what my aching legs needed. It starts out nice and easy...the is a maze of boulder scrambling up to a mountain pass. The view from the top isn't the best, but it is well worth it. There is more to explore around the pass, but I ran out of time. I am probably going to come back and do this one again.

awesome hike overall, saw a gila monster scurry by once in the wash area. trails do seem to disappear easily. sandstone cliffs are beautiful.

I'm still not sure if I actually did it. the closer you get to the mountain, the harder it got to make out the trail. it does have a nice view and a good mix inclines and declines.

This was a fun but challenging hike. Its slightly off the major trails but is used by climbers going up Rainbow Mountain, Rainbow Wall, and Juniper Peak. The trails run along a wash full of very large boulders, along the edges of the mountains that contain heavy brush, and a long narrow channel as you near the top of the notch. The long narrow channel contains many scrambles, some of which you climb and crawl through gaps in the rocks to get up to a higher point. Several areas have ropes that aid in climbing difficult rock obstacles. The trail up to the top has footpaths that are not well defined. There are many cairns that keep you moving up in the right direction.
