Great views, beautiful fall foliage. Either we missed the lake or it was heavily overgrown. Tough uphill gradient on the way back from the lake.

Happy to have done it, but don’t need to do twice: there are plenty of other trails in the immediate area to explore!

So fun and beautiful! Long hike but worth it. Didn't see a single other person on this trail. Heaven.

This is an absolutely beautiful hike which I would strongly recommend doing just before sunrise so you can really enjoy the spectacular views. Takes about an hour to get up and has a decent amount of vertical. This trail is not very well defined so make sure you’re keeping an eye on your GPS. You’re basically following the ridge up to the peak. You’ll know when you’re there

*followed the app directions to this trail, but never found the actual trail.
*on the east side of the road is a trail to incline lake....connects to third creek trail....makes a nice late afternoon fall jaunt.
*plenty of water for the dogs.
*easy, relatively flat.

A little confusing at the start. Think you’re supposed to take the bike path to the left according to the app, but we took the right and took TRT to Galena Falls and then up to Relay the back way which is a great detour anyway. The road to Relay Peak is a large dirt road all the way up and easy to follow. Spectacular views at the top. Took the bike path all the way back out which comes with even more amazing views of Tahoe and the fall foliage. Recommend taking the last mt Rose trail to the left instead of continuing onto the bike path which leads you straight to the highway where we had to walk back up it to the parking lot! 5 stars for the perfect views!

Great hiking trail, especially for dogs. Most of the trail is shaded and there’s an abundance of flowing water for dogs to drink from and splash around in. The scenery is pretty; trees, streams, and a view of a cool rock cliff (I don’t know what to call it) at one point on the trail. I didn’t find any parts of the hike to be very challenging so if you want a good workout just increase your pace:p

I did the Upper Thomas - Dry Pond - White’s Creek loop on a Monday morning. Beautiful. Mostly in shade, except for the downhill side of Dry Pond. Not too crowded, lots of friendly dogs being walked and a few courteous mountain bikers.

Kept going to the Mt Rose Summit, but the views at Galena falls were nice.

Who in the world ranked this hike as moderate!! After the first nine tenths of a mile the hike starts getting real steep and the path is hard to find and stay on. With the AllTrails however, it makes it easier to stay on track. It is a pretty tough climb to the first ridge and then it's still steep but at least the trail is easy to follow. The views are spectacular and the climb is rewarding. I'm glad I did this route ONCE, but I'll stick to going up the other side. Going down is also kind of hard.

This is a treasure of a short walk. We did it twice during our week stay to warm up for longer hikes. Go clockwise for an easier "up." Nice stream running along the hike, healthy beautiful coniferous trees. We collected some HUGE and perfect pine cones. Nice boulders along the way to sit. We saw very few people, mostly local dog-walkers. Highly recommend for a short hike.

My wife and I made it to the top on 9/14/18. Very inexperienced hikers but made it up and down in 3 1/2 hours. A few stops on the way up we’re needed, but it gave us a chance to take in the beautiful views. Windy on top of the peak, but the views made it 100% worth the work. Mt Tallac will be the target next trip out!

Great trail with a nice reward at the end (the falls) absolutely beautiful views in a few different spots, plenty of shade on warmer days and a fairly easy hike for kids too. My 10yr old had no issues and even my 2 1/2 yr old walked about half of it.

Great hike!! Steep but well worth the views!

Steep and soft dirt in the first half. Flattens out when you see the peak. Easy climb to the top. Worth hiking.

Great hike. Uphill in the beginning but it's not terribly steep. Great view at the top.

View is to die for, and if the climb up doesn’t kill you the climb down might

The trail head is 8911 feet, so keep that in mind. Very nice, well maintained trail, views of Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Great view of towering Mt Rose.

Great hike! Extremely steep and challenging uphill, but worth the view! Note that there doesn’t appear to be a trail on the last part to get to the peak where AllTrails indicates you go.

Nice moderate trail with decent changes in elevation,. Great sights and views on this trail. Quite a few fellow hikers on this trailer, from young children to senior hikers. Well worth the effort if you are in the north Lake Tahoe area.

Good workout, the sights are decent. Once is good enough for me

While the trail and the lovely waterfall at the end, are nice, there were too many people on the trail to really get in touch with nature.

A couple of good views. dry pond is... well... dry. good workout overall.

No sights unfortunately. Still a good workout

This was a phenomenal trail!! The first half was fairly steep but it lightens up in the second half. (We also wore nikes so no professionals here! haha) 100% worth the hike to the very top- the view was stunning! We went on 05/27/18 and it was somewhat snowy up top but pretty warm at the peak on the rocks.

My wife and I did this yesterday, not knowing about the falls. A delightful little beauty, well situated at the top of the Galena Creek drainage, with lush meadows below. Dragonflies cruising through voluminous spray for mid-August, and the tallest lupine (6’) I’ve ever seen along the creek at the bottom of the falls. The easy east trail from the Mt. Rose trailhead combines some Tahoe views with an amble along contour through high-altitude pines, junipers and mountain hemlocks, with hundreds of Clark’s Nutcrackers chattering about. Twin Mountain Hemlocks about 1/2 mile in sported the largest diameter trunks -by double - I’ve ever seen in that species. Two questions: does anyone know if 1) there is a trail all the way down beside Galena Creek to the County Park (maps do not show one); and 2) there are power lines heading in - is there an old homestead inholding along the creek?

There were not many people on the trail. Did run into a few mountain bikers. It is a classic trail for the area. I did get lost on the way back to the car. Once I saw the road, I knew I made a wrong turn. Here is a video of some of the sights. https://youtu.be/KCG1kRpLpKY

Beautiful morning. Went a little further out. Ready to go on this trail again but earlier to beat all the people
