This trail has amazing views! Its really 11-11.5 miles. Church’s Pond is not worth the extra hike.

Great trail. Perfect mix of shade and sun. Not too heavily trafficked if you get there early enough in the morning.

For a great workout (7 miles uphill) go counterclockwise from trailhead in parking lot north of Visitor Center on East side of the road. The last 3 miles are downhill from Church’s Pond.

hardly any people on the path. Ran into maybe three groups of people. The hike was pretty easy except a few parts that were uphill. The uphill wasn't so bad but the beating sun made it more tiring. Overall, great hike. Our dogs enjoyed the creek!

It was a beautiful walk! Great day and not too many people. It was a rocky path but still enjoyed the walk.

Nice hike with great views, bog friendly. Start as early as 7ish to avoid crowd.

Honestly a pretty difficult hike for what you get. some really cool views, but the pond isn't as nice as many of the nearby alpine lakes. you can wade in the water but beware of leeches in the mud! They will attach to your feet. the hike down is deffinitely tons easier than the way up. we did it in less than half of the time. There also aren't a lot of great spots to rest which is hard with the steep uphill.

Pros: leas travelled, steady inclines Cons: small creek, only small part of hike, more exposed than other nearby trails Suggest counterclockwise on loop, look carefully for switchback 75% of loop to return (not well marked)

Great trail, close to town but not too close. Fish in the creek. You can also just go down and back to the creek, a harder or easier way.

Great trail. Not too many people. Lots of happy doggies off leash and wandering! My doggie slept great today! Highly recommend going early. I started around 11 and it was toasty on the last mile or so.

Some of the best views in Reno, the trail is extremely easy to follow, and is completely free of any litter of any kind.

Great Hike once we found it! Hard to find the entrance. FYI the GPS will take you around some residential neighborhoods. Just take Joy Lake RD all the way down. There’ll be a parking lot on the left. The trail is across the street. Make sure to keep an eye out on signs during this trail. We got off the trail quite a bit but it was worth it! Climbed up a mountain and saw a beautiful view. Good times!
