First time riding in the desert so I can"t give it a 5 ("as good as it gets"),but it was a great ride. Excellent desert scenery, good flow, some degree of technical riding amidst some deceptively difficult climbs.
I crashed and burned early on my second loop,so I had to walk out, but I will be back!

Fine, if you like pure desert hikes. Spends a little too much time along the highway , and is mainly a mountain biking trail.

Easy hike. Awesome landscapes

Great 5 mike loop for a good cardio hike. Easy to get lost. I was definitely glad I had this app with me. Look and listen for bikers. I did run into quiet a few on the trail. I’ll put it on my list to do again.

Had a great time on this trail. Definitely has some rough terrain but still had a blast

Although it’s rated moderate, parts of the landmine loop are difficult for the beginner mountain biker. Beautiful trail of hills, plenty of rocks and Joshua trees.

Nice hike. The first mile pretty much parallels the highway but after that you head into seclusion. I went on late Sunday morning in November, mid-50’s but was quite comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt. Bring a light jacket just in case. Mountain bikers share the trail but I only ran into a few during the first and last mile, and all were friendly and respectful. Went an easy 2 miles without seeing anyone in the deeper part of the hike. The trail seems to trade names with Mustang Loop based on trail signs and what I was seeing on the app. If you like being panoramically surrounded by glorious desert mountains, you’ll love this trail.

Did 1/2 of Western Trail and all of The Hurl. Nice 6 mile hike.

Great trail...I'm a beginner and 49 years old. I walked the Landmine Loop in just under 4 hours.

Had a nice time on this trail. I would say that for the most part, it is a biking trail. You need to keep your eyes and ears open for them. They can sneak up on you. Some nice views of the Red Rock area. Pretty good work out. Bring lots of water, there is no shade to be had.

probably closer to a moderate trail, some hard climbs and difficult rocky areas, but the north part of this trail is awesome, great beginners g drops, worth going back and forth over

We did this half-day 7 mile trail with Escape Adventures. Our tour guide, Brandon, was super knowledgeable and fun! My boyfriend and I did this last week. We’re from Oregon, in our young 30s, and are relatively outdoorsy, healthy, and athletic. I went into this as a newbie mountain biker (although with cycling class experience) and the bf went into this with mountain biking experience, but only as a kid (20+ years ago). He did okay, but I did not.

Spinning/cycling class skills do not transfer over to mountain biking well. I had difficulty learning how to balance my weight, position my body, and apply the brakes. The terrain had loose gravel, large rocks, and prickly plants along the narrow trail. On one of the first dips, my brain froze and I applied the L brake (front wheel) because I’m L-handed, rather than the R (rear). I went head first into the prickly plants & rocks. My left thigh was pinned under the handlebars until I unfroze. This is not a trail to practice and experiment on for the 1st time. During the switchbacks, I was intimidated and got off my bike and walked which was allowed and even encouraged. The tour guide and our fellow rider rode ahead and then the 4 of us would reconvene for briefing before the next portion. This was great because they were able to do their thing while the bf and I took it slow. Overall, the bf had minimal problems with the trail, unlike me. Although both of us were panting heavily during the climbs due to the change in elevation, dry air, and hot sun.

The trail and landscape was beautiful. We got some great photos and captured many of my falls on my GoPro which has been comical to watch. I’m still bruised and limping one week later, but battle wounds are the best.

Used to love mt. biking this area. Great trails if you can tolerate the heat and the off chance that you crash into something pokey.
