Great overlook of the city. Not too bad of a hike.

Power line Trail which branches off 1906 was a great hike. Good incline the whole way for a great workout. Awesome views on top of Mt Helena.

Love the entrance of the trailhead with the bridge and a creek running. Mostly shaded area.

With all the recent wood chipping it smells wonderful!!! This trail is a little steeper than 1906 but is more direct and will get you to the top faster. I suggest going up Powerline and down 1906 for a nice loop.

Great trail to get to the top of Mt Helena and see views in all directions. Lots of tree thinning makes it feel like a park and the trail is wide and in great shape

This was a great day hike, and the view from the top is unbelievable. Big sky country here for sure.

A local treasure. Soaring views with lots of interesting terrain. Great day for hiking or mountain biking. Shuttle on Saturday mornings to trailhead.

Hiked the ridge through from the Prospector Rd trailhead to Adams St. The views on the
ascent to the south are spectacular with mountains and trees galore. As soon as you round the mountain, your view north includes Helena, the rest of Mt Helena, and the rest of this basin we call home.

Fewer hikers and greater chance of seeing wildlife have brought me back to the Prospector side of the mountain numerous times. I'll gladly risk the bears to enjoy the solitude.

Easy, nice views of Helena valley.

The 1906 is a fairly easy trail. For more of a challenge and for the better in shape, go straight up Powerline and take Prairie Trail or go higher and come down the 1906 back to the trailhead/parking lot. Need ice trekkers in Feb as the snow turns to ice. The varying terrain keeps it interesting.

Excellent views of Helena.

Steady and steep incline but not a bad hike for being so close to town. Nice views as you go along

Great hike! Longer than I thought it would be, but worth the effort.

Pleasant.

This trail is definitely tough but worth the hike once you get to the summit!

This was a great trail for a nice day hike. Although it is an in town trail, the fairly dense woods can make you forget you are not away from town. The views from the summit are gorgeous and are well worth the time.

I used to hike on Mount Helena regularly and summited a handful of times. It's definitely a tough one for those who don't hike regularly! I love the mix between woodland and meadows. And the views all around are stunning.

Gets lot of use even in winter on a good day. Has an awesome cave as you're going up. Need to be in relatively good shape if you plan on getting to the top. Incredible view of Helena and surrounding areas. Should be a requirement if you're just visiting/new to Helena.

Grizzly Gulch Drive is a porous road that continues after Helena's Park/Main Streets end. There are plenty of residential drivers, dogs and the potential for grizzly bears (yes, seriously, very seriously, the road's name is not cutely named, it's realistic, grizzlies are known to attack sheep outside Helena and there are many signs posted in this area warning of the bear threat). So it's not a great place for trail running, as I found out the hard way, but Grizzly Gulch seems like a nice access road for mountain biking. Take bear spray.

"Must do" trail in the Helena Area! Excellent vistas, well maintained and doable 24/7. It's a climb... 1300ft from downtown, about 1000 from the Adam's Street trailhead, but well worth it. Can be icy but slow and easy will get you there anyway

Because this is an in-town hike, the trail gets a LOT of use. Although it make for an easy access the heavy usage also means that if you are seeking solitude you probably won't find it often on this trail. The 1906 trail is primarily north facing. This means that in winter, once snow is packed down to ice, it does not melt very quickly. Hiking this trail without traction devices that have "teeth" will mean you are bound to end up with a more than your feet hitting the ground.
